Step forward ... Mike Ashley.  He specialises in doing quick last-minute deals (Look at Missguided earlier this month - went into Administration, but MA bought it within 48 hours). It's ready-made for him now.

The problem is, there's an absolute floor to the price here - if you don't pay enough to clear the MSD/Stadium issue (whether it be you, a 3rd party, Morris, whatever) and enough to clear football creditors and whatnot, there is no deal - the club will simply not be allowed back into the league and the purchaser will not follow through on it.  That doesn't really exist with something like the Missguided deal - that's a straight game of brinkmanship between the purchaser and the creditors - you just find the sweet spot between the two positions, and the deal goes through.

Ashley currently seems to be offering below that floor, so either he has to up his bid significantly (which is money he seemingly doesn't want to spend), negotiate something with someone somewhere (which takes time), or accept 3rd party ownership of the stadium (which he is apparently not happy with).

Beggars can't be choosers.  The Fixture List is published next week (Thursday, June 23rd). If we don't get a deal done inside the next week, then I can't see the EFL letting us go on a month-to-month basis of proving funds - they will kick us out beforehand and replace us. The other L1 clubs also want certainty (and avoid the possibility of losing a prime fixture / 5% of their income / refunding ST holders a game / suing or throwing handbags at EFL).

So would the EFL be kicking out the other clubs with money issues as well then? And before you say it it’s in the rules that you can start a season in administration

The standard of journalism these days is pitiful. Posting ambigious barnum statements on twitter and telling people to 'jog on'. The sooner people ignore Nixon and his ilk the better.

You can read it without believing it you know?

I agree. Which is why "other clubs" have probably been pushing for a resolution rather than actually getting "angry" as Nixon implied as part of his click bait headline.

I’m only saying because I had some money laundering check done on me when as a carefree  youth I took part in a company sharesave scheme and from the start of the scheme to the end the share price had tripled if not more. I then turn up at the bank with a wad of cash and based upon my previous history the bank didn’t believe where I got the money from and had to go through a series of checks which meant contacting the company and making sure the shares were genuine etc. It felt like it went on forever.

I blew the most of it on fast women and drink. The rest I just wasted.

And there was me thinking that George Best had died!

TBH I don't know what to believe anymore.  His MO is to pay the least possible for the best return...usually.  But there have been so many people spouting half-truths, rumour, conjecture, opinion across here, Twitter, the press that I really have no idea what's what.  I'm probably one of the least informed on this forum with how all this shizzle works.  It's a bloody nightmare trying to pick out fact from fiction since I'd hazard 99.9% of people have absolutely no clue what's being agreed or what's going on.  I certainly don't believe anything that comes of of Qs mouth these days, absolute shower.  I'm just waiting for the official EFL / Derby statement to say "we are happy to confirm xxx is the new owner of Derby County and we look forward to seeing them compete in L1".

Surely, if it IS MA, and he only pays the least amount possible (which would mean a 15 point deduction), he must realise that he would alienate a large part of the fanbase. So much so that attendance could drop by more than a third.

He would be the hated owner from day one! I would imagine the manager, coaches, and players would feel some resentment towards him also.

But, if his bid was enough to start next season on 0 points, He would be hailed as a hero.

I stocked up on Glenfiddich last night, I’m well set…

I'm off on holiday on Saturday so it had better be sorted by then or I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick.

Sadly, I will have internet access where I'm going. We could all probably do with a break from constantly pressing refresh but I won't be able to resist.

I think MA has a thick enough skin to cope.

I just think to get to this point he must have gone to some great expense with solicitors etc. I think he’s the quickest option but I don’t really think he’s the best. I think MA has far more experience in this sort of thing and given the choice I would have him over CK.

Agreed with expense, I wouldn't mind what he's spent ?‍♀️, As for the quickest option I believe all the donkey work has been done, It's now down to those interested parties to look at what's owed and to who, Best offer wins.

I'm confident a buyer is there...who that buyer maybe ?‍♀️

Ashley is right to be offering that kind of price though as the administrators have sailed us into a situation where we have five players under contract and no stadium so buying a club badge and five player contracts does not go anywhere near getting any value back on his potential investment. CK was offering a hell of a lot without paying out a hell of a lot. Ashley wants the stadium or a purchase where he will be guaranteed the stadium at a knock down price in a relatively short period of time. Yet the administrators are basically saying they will sell without any IFFs BUTS or MAYBEs - good luck with that as bidders will be horrified at what they are not getting for a lot of money.

To add to that u would think that commercially it makes little sense

come buy a season ticket and watch derby with a -15 point deduction and may or may not get relegated

hardly going to get bums on seats is it

I don’t agree . Even if we drop five divisions I think we will return to PPS at the latest on re entry to the League.

the stadium will not be demolished as it is too valuable . I don’t think the pitch or seating could find much of a re-use but the rest of the place can be. Function rooms , bars, restaurants, shops , offices . Maybe executive boxes too, you could get millions in rental and events .

What are you disagreeing with? We wont be able to afford the maintenance on the stadium if we're starting too far down the pyramid and we definitely won't be able to afford to buy it without a mysterious benefactor. Neither of those points is debatable. You could argue that you think the timescales wont be quite so long as a decade, but you are relying on back to back promotions to get us straight back up.

I said the stadium wouldnt be demolished as well - that was my entire argument - its too expensive to redevelop the land!!!! You wont make millions out of putting shops, etc in it though - not a chance. The only way you will make any significant money from it is gigs, etc and thats only if you're competitive enough to pull those events away from the bigger cities like Nottingham.
