Still don’t understand the rules.

Lundstram goes into a tackle wholeheartedly. Brighton player jumps in two footed, doesn’t get the ball and leaps into the air in agony.

VAR overturns a booking for Lundstram and he gets a red.

Not so much 'wholehearted' as a potential leg-breaker. Studs up, right on to his ankle.

Shouldn’t matter who’s on the receiving end. Both players have a responsibility to go for the ball. Brighton player dipped out and that’s when you get hurt.

If a player can’t go for a 50:50 ball, where is defending?

Makes me laugh seeing Roy Keane being so holier than thou.

Players also have a responsibility not to injure an opponent and to adhere to the laws of the game. They have to go for 50-50 balls in a responsible way. Ie not in a way that can be seen as serious foul play.

Serious foul play is defined in the laws as:

'Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play'.
