Bit gutted for City. My Man Ure supporting mate now has Chelsea and Real Madrid to root for.

He was desperate for City not to win the Champions League and now theres hope for him that Liverpool might not as well. If Chelsea win the Cup he'll class it as a good season!?

Derby County were touring Germany giving nazi salutes just before World War 2 started. Virtually all of the largest companies in Germany today benefitted from forced labour or contributed to the war effort or contributed to the holocaust. I doubt you've managed to avoid using any of their products for your entire life.

Many British companies were also built on the backs of colonial atrocities. It seems very silly to single out Real Madrid just because they were at one point backed by a fascist dictator. Franco has been dead for almost 50 years for gods sake.

This is a football forum, so I commented on a football team. I didn't single them out.

I'm quite happy to discuss my consumption or not of Fanta on a soft drinks forum or my nonpatronage of the East India Company on a trade forum.

I agree. I really want to like City, cos they have a lot of England players playing for them. Liverpool have comparatively few. But I just prefer the style and passion of Liverpool. City seems far too sterile. Even their colour looks like surgical scrubs.

I think it’s great there are two different styles to battle it out. It’s probably what makes them so good is they have different qualities.

I believe when City are at their best they are the best team in the world. Liverpool, however, seem to be able to win in a different way and it’s probably why they boast a better Champions League record than City over the past five years.

Can you imagine Liverpool and City without Klopp and Pep now. It will be so weird. Both will still win trophies after they leave, but there is a chance neither club reach these heights again for another half century.

It’ll be like United post Fergie, or Arsenal post Wenger, or Forest post Clough. Managers like that don’t grow on trees, so it’s daft to assume you’d just carry on at the same level, cos everything else is the same.

I think old Hugo is probably the worst of the lot. One of the founder members of the National Socialist party - who knows,  without him we might never have heard of the little bloke with the Charlie Chaplin moustache and the world may have been a very different place…..

You are voicing a dislike of a football team because they were helped by a guy who has been dead for 50 years. You are free to hold an opinion, but it doesnt make it any less ridiculous ?

Come on. A long time ago. Would you not install any Neff kitchen ware because they made the concentration camp ovens to burn corpses, or refuse to wear Hugo Boss clothes because they designed and made Gestapo and SS uniforms?

Would you refuse to watch the Ghana football team because the largest tribe, the Asante, were one of the biggest slave owning and slave trading tribes. I mean where does it stop?

Well that @jimbo jonesfollows the Vikings in NFL, and as we all know they came over here and nicked land, our women and our church's gold....

... So I don't talk to him. Philistine. ?

There's a mad one going on in League Two at the minute. Bristol Rovers could get automatics, but only with an incredible turnaround of goal difference on Northampton. They're currently 7-0 up, which would do it, but the game has had to be stopped because one of the Bristol Rovers fans has got on the pitch and hit some Scunthorpe players. You don't get this in the Premier League.

Apparently they've got Joey Barton on the PA telling the fans to start behaving or the match gets abandoned. Never thought I'd see that.

In the nice position of knowing Northampton's result now too. 10 minutes of keepball will do now.

Mind you, if you think Man Utd are a shambles, have a look at Leeds, currently making a complete pig's ear of it on Sky.

And Everton winning - much as i’d find it highly amusing if Frank and his new besties get relegated, Leeds going down would be so much sweeter…

Everton won't go down. Their overpaid lazy squad will ensure they do enough to keep their easy gig. I'd laugh myself into a coma if Leeds went down, but I have a horrible nagging suspicion that Burnley's new manager bounce is over and done with.
