My biggest issue ... and it’s one we should all be concerned about ... is the bounce

by all accounts he’s quite reserved and withdrawn ..

after frank and the bounce after every big win can we cope with just a quick gesture of wave to the crowd and disappearing down the tunnel

?

i hoping Mel has drawn something into his contract about this

This is insane!! Hats off to Mel. He proved himself a visionary with the Lampard appointment and he’s pulled it out the bag again potentially here. Can’t believe we’ve got someone of Cocu’s calibre! And he develops youth favours the same formation and plays a similar style.

Now there are no guarantees and most of us could be eating our words this time next year but if this doesn’t work, I honestly don’t know what else Mel could do!

If you can’t get excited about this then you must be a miserable sod!

Exactly what you say, BR84

Zebedee's taking the bounce he apparently created along with Ermintrude to entertain his minions in London .

Had to look up what that was. Glad I didn’t do it work.

Maybe everyone else on the forum is just too innocent to know what it is.

Or too afraid to admit knowing what it is

(Villa fan) Delighted for you guys getting Cocu, feel a little guilty after May, but we were in exactly the same position 12 months ago and now in the PL. It should / will be hopefully be you joining us next May as long as we don't come straight back down. If Chelsea fail to agree a deal with Frank and if that all falls through then I would still sack Frack and employ Cocu. The 4m from Chelsea is just the cherry on top of the cake.

Building on a point I made earlier: the money he had and where he spent it.

13/14 season:
Adam Maher - €7.20m - 19 year old midfielder.
Jeffrey Bruma - €3.15m - 21 year old centre back.
Stijn Schaars - €765k - 29 year old midfielder.
Santiago Arias - €608k - 21 year old right back.
Florian Jozefzoon - €248k - 22 year old winger.
Ji-Sung Park - loan - 32 year old midfielder.
Karim Rekik - loan - 18 year old defender.
Bryan Ruiz - loan - 28 year old winger.

14/15 season:
Luuk De Jong - €4.95m - 23 year old striker.
Remko Pasveer - free - 30 year old goalkeeper.
Andres Guardado - loan - 27 year old midfielder.
Danny Wintjens - loan - 31 year old goalkeeper.
Nicolas Isimat-Mirin - loan - 22 year old centre back.

15/16 season:
Gaston Pereiro - €6.3m - 20 year old midfielder
Davy Propper - €4.05m - 23 year old midfielder.
Hector Moreno - €3.15m - 27 year old centre back.
Andres Guardado - €2.52m - 28 year old midfielder
Nicolas Isimat-Mirin - €2.16m - 23 year old centre back
Luuk Koopmans - €90k - 21 year old goalkeeper
Simon Poulson - free - 30 year old defender
Marco Van Ginkel - loan - 23 year old midfielder
Maxime Lestienne - loan - 23 year old defender

16/17 season:
Bart Ramselaar - €4.28m - 20 year old attacking midfielder
Hidde Jurjus - €450k - 22 year old goalkeeper
Daniel Schwaab - free - 27 year old centre back
Oleksandr Zinchenko - loan - 19 year old left back
Siem De Jong - loan - 27 year old midfielder
Marco Van Ginkel - loan - 24 year old midfielder

17/18 season:
Maximiliano Romero - €9m - 18 year old striker
Hirving Lozano - €7.20m - 21 year old winger
Derrick Luckassen - €4.50m - 22 year old centre back
Eloy Room - €360k - 30 year old goalkeeper

18/19 season:
Jailson - €3.6m - 22 year old midfielder
Harun Tekin - €2.48m - 29 year old goalkeeper
Michael Frey - €2.38m - 24 year old forward
Berke Ozer - €2.25m - 18 year old goalkeeper
Baris Alici - €1.35m - 21 year old winger
Ferdi Kadioglu - €1.26m - 18 year old midfielder
Tolga Cigerci - free - 26 year old midfielder
Diego Reyes - free - 25 year old defender
Andre Ayew - loan - 28 year old midfielder
Yassine Benzia - loan - 23 year old midfielder
Islam Slimani - loan - 30 year old striker

A few things that seem to be consistent: 1) the bloke likes to sign a keeper. 2) the money is usually spent on the midfield - particularly young attacking midfielders. 3) he doesn't like to sign experienced players for relatively big money - out of the 10 biggest signings he's made the oldest came into the club at 23 (Jeffrey Bruma). Although, he is joint 10th with Hector Moreno who was 27 and still sold on for a profit. 4) He has previously delved into the UK market for loans and will have already made contacts at various clubs, notably Chelsea. It keeps the relationship strong there. 5) He likes the South American market, particularly when spending money - Jailson, Romero, Lozano & Pereiro in the last two seasons. 6) The average age of the team he had at Fenderbache was completely different to the team he had at PSV. I would therefore say he has an affinity for working with young players which produces the best results. 7) He's only really signed three strikers which I find fascinating - De Jong, Romero & Slimani - given the amount of transfers he's made.

Maxime Lestienne - loan - 23 year old defender

He's a winger.

Some good players signed but thats alot of transfers, and more money to spend than we have. Reminds me in some ways of Docherty at man utd. He signed young players and did lots of deals. I knew when he came to Derby that we simply couldn't afford to sustain that amount of turnover. We ran out of money and the wheeling and dealing became a spiral of decline. Hopefully we don't need that much of a rebuild this time and we can build within a sustinable budget.

UTR ????????

I hope thats exactly what we do get. It would be too cheesy to see the new man doing an impression of frank. A wave will do fine.

He made a hell of a lot more money from sales than he spent.

Easy - pass the mantle onto the players.

"Duane start the bounce" one game, "Waghorn start the bounce" the next..

Sounds like he has the right business model. Loan in experience and develop the young for a profit. Instead of developing everyone else’s young players for them
