Why am I checking the forum and twitter at 10pm? Never going to be an announcement at this time of night. Best I rest up as tomorrow there’s bound to be an announcement that Lampard has left and we’ve appointed Cocu......and that it’ll all be confirmed within 48 hours.

Imagine the stick we’d get if he was sacked before Christmas.

He must be given time I suspect that’s the reason it’s 4 years ...I wouldn’t expect miracles next season but he knows his stuff and prem teams will not mind lending us some young talent and Mel must’ve gave him assurances about finances ...exciting times ...i thought PSV were very goid when he was there and expected him to push on but Fenerbahce was apparently political and other factors like backroom staff problems...I do not see another manager out there that could be better or more exciting than this appointment

Another impressive thing about Cocu is how much money he made PSV

“During his time managing his home town club in Eindhoven he spent around £49m on player recruitment, whilst generating more than £134m in player sales.”

This is impressive meaning he’s increased players values and plays decent stuff ...what’s not to get excited about

Spot on @Saity This appointment excites me even more than Frank's did and I was like a giddy little girl over that one.

Just hoping Mel has a fat compensation fee AND a period of notice written into Phil's contract so when we win the Championship and Barca come calling we can tell them it's a straight swap for Messi or yous lot can do one.

It was a joke mate but it's great to see you in positive mood over the new gaffer anyway ?

I know, I wouldn’t be pissed off if we had that kit, either. I just think it would be really tacky and tinpot.

I’m very excited about Cocu, as I think he could be a great appointment. I’m really beginning to kick myself for booking holidays/trips for August.

Any standout Dutch league players that would be potential targets? Seeing as we are hiring 2x ex PSV coaches and one current one, do they have anyone we could potentially bid for?

Little list of potential players we could look at:

GK: Marco Bizot (AZ Alkmaar) caught my eye this season, particularly the latter. AZ had an excellent season last, qualifying for the Europa League. Would be hard to peel him away from a chance to play in Europe, but seeing as we're about to hire Phillip bloody Cocu as our new manager, I'm kinda feeling like anything is possible.

RB: Bart Nieuwkoop (Feyenoord) seemed to lose his place a lot to Cuco Martina. Class right-back and at 23 he's still a good age.

CB: Sven van Beek (Feyenoord) would be my number one choice. Thought he would progress the way De Ligt has a few years ago. Solid at the back, decent enough pace and good with the ball at his feet. He's valued at around 3m euros which, when you compare to the fact that Tomas Kalas has just gone for £8m, I would say is a god damn schteeeel! Has had injury issues, however.

CM: Quite a few here so I won't go into very much detail. Jorrit Hendrix (PSV) might be out of our reach, but he's a PSV wonderkid who I'd love to see here if we could afford him (valued at 7m euros). Guus Til (AZ) would be a class signing, too. Combative central midfielder who, despite being only 21, is the captain of AZ. I'd also love us to look at Joris van Overeem (FC Utrecht). He started off as an attacking midfielder but evolved into a more defensive role. Was a big fan of him during his time at AZ. You've also got Bart Ramsalaar (PSV), Morten Thorsby (Heerenveen), and young Deroy Duarte (Sparta Rotterdam) would also be excellent additions, especially Duarte. I think he'll go far in the game.

Wingers: Charly Musonda (on loan at Vitesse from Chelsea ?) looked decent on the right. Prying Sam Larsson (though unlikely) from Feyenoord would be fantastic, if we could. Dennis Johnsen (Ajax) is an exciting young winger we could take on loan. Dabney dos Santos (Heracles) is another young talent we could look at too. He's rapid and has a lot of raw talent, but hasn't taken flight yet really.

Strikers: Number one target here would be Sam Lammers (PSV), no doubt about it. He went out on loan to Heerenveen this season and scored 16 goals (making 5 assists in the process). He scored a shed load of goals for Jong PSV (30 in 63 games) and, at 22, he is one of the serious top talents in the Dutch league. I'm pretty sure all our new coaching staff will be aware of this guy (with the obvious PSV connection) so I would not be surprised to see us go all out for him. He'd also fit perfectly into the style of 4-3-3 Cocu will bring. This guy should be our No.1 target from the Eredivisie.

To summarise, the main players I'd love to see Derby go for (from the Eredivisie) are:

- Sven van Beek (CB - Feyenoord)

Guus Til  (CM - AZ Alkmaar)

Joris van Overeem (CM - FC Utrecht)

Deroy Duarte (CM - Sparta Rotterdam)

Sam Larsson (LW/RW - Feyenoord)

Sam Lammers (ST - PSV)

Hope this helps ?

At least we won't be losing the bounce... not appropriate to link but if you're viewing in an appropriate place - @KeiranLee on Twitter...

I wonder if that was the point that finally convinced him?
"At first, I wasn't sure if the Derby job was for me, but when Mel told me I would get porn stars waving their boobs about in my honour, how could I possibly say no?"

I think it would be hilarious. I'd even add a photo of our Phil schmoking a massive dooby on the front. In for a penny....

Is it bad that I’ve never been arsed to change this on my laptop?

Yes, that looks like a seal in the background wearing sunglasses.

Great post Nuwtfly.

Quite a few Dutch players with good reputations have not taken to the English game but we've had a couple of decent ones before.

We need at least a right back option (if wisdom and/or bogle go), centre half, two midfielders, wide option (maybe two)
