This is the place for crazy formations it seems, here's my inverted 4-3-3.

                          Carson

Cyrus      Keogh       Shackell   Lowe

                     Baird.  De Sart.

                           Butterfield.

 Ince.                 Nugent.               Johnson

Width from the full backs, Baird making a back 3 in possession, De Sart supporting him when not, Butterfield given license to do what he wants past the halfway line, Ince and Johnson tucking in when attacking to allow the width of the pitch to be utilised by the full backs, playing off the clever movement of Skeletor up top.

Baird and De Sart have already shown a great range of forward passing, playing Baird central allows him to hit both flanks with his passing, rather than just Ince, and Johnson's in because I rather like him, and he's not Camara.

If Hughes is available, tell Jacob to run himself into the ground for 60 mins knowing Will will take the last half hour, and let them work together like that until the inevitable promotion party.

One clear lesson that you could take away from Wassell's tenure is that Johnson is completely and utterly unsuited to playing on the left of a three.

Also I doubt that Baird has the legs to play in midfield anymore. Other than those issues the team looks great.

9/11, I'll take that.

Baird wouldn't really have to move all that much with my system, and replace Johnson with someone else with outstanding hair and we're singing from the same hymnsheet.

Coyr!

It might work with Baird in midfield if you have a very energetic midfielder in there with him but I don't think either Butterfield or De sart would be able to compensate. I could see it working if he was playing behind a fully fit Bryson and Hughes for instance.

Also I never thought I'd see Johnson and outstanding hair in the same sentence haha.

I'm well aware I'm talking ******, but wanted to fit it in with the general theme on the forum recently!

I actually like a lot of that. Especially Baird central and Butters allowed to go and play his game. Hughes in for De Sart though. I'm with others, I see little reason to play the lad unless we're signing him in the summer.

Bradley knocking the **** out of their winger/full back is something I'd enjoy too.

Any decent pubs. I've not been to Villa Park for nearly 30 years.

There is the Witton Arms which is left out of Witton train station or if you turn right about half a mile iup the road is the Yew Tree. I will probably start in  the Yew tree then head for the Witton Arms,  then it's only a 5 minute walk to the ground from there

Sorry to digress but seems a topical place to put it.....

Buried an old friend today. Paul Chatfield from Utch. "Chats" was a year older and a lot wiser when i started going away with Derby in the mid 70's.

One story that came to mind today was when he and I went to Villa away in the late 70's. Living in Utch, we decided to get a bus to Stafford and then a bus from Stafford to Villa. Chats had heard there was a direct bus link to the Villa ground from Stafford.

There was. It was the Villa supporters bus. We paid our couple of quid and slipped quietly on to the bus early doors. No problems as there was a couple of old dears at the front with flasks and tartan rugs and a few "normals" scattered about. We settled about 5 rows from the back and hunkered down with a four pack of McEwans Bitter and 10 No.6, as you did back then.

The bus started up and was about to move out when 20 or so drunken louts piled on, all loud and beery singing Villa songs and chucking tins of beer to each other all round the area where me and me mate were sat.

We was about half way there when they realised we weren't joining in. One asked where we were from. Chats knelt up on his seat, faced the back of the bus and replied we were Derby fans from Utch. The bus went completely silent while i battled to control my bowels until one bloke stood up and said "fair play lads". You could tell a few on there wanted to have a go at us but they left it at that. A couple of the Villa lads held the bus back after the game as we were the last to board and we ended up having a pint with them in Stafford before getting the bus to Utch.

Good man, top DCFC fan, taken too soon, RIP Chats.

My observation - Butters hasn't shown this side of his game for a while. His confidence seems to drop when he gets 30 yards from goal, and he ends up spinning around a passing back. Last season he would hit 2-4 shots a game from range, with usually 50% making the keep sweat.

He needs someone to pull him aside before kickoff and tell him if he has the ball in their half and the adventurous pass is on he has to take it, just for a game. He may lose the ball 2/3rds of the time, but a couple of passes may actually get us in positions where our forwards can do damage

He went through a spell in which he was constantly blasting the ball over the bar.

In recent times he has at least troubled the keeper. He needs a goal to give him confidence and then hopefully will knock in a few if only to raise his price tag.

I would imagine there'd be a queue for him. Even now.
