Posted September 14, 20168 yr Team selection for the last two games has to be a big wake up call to Tom Ince ! firstly Russell is in because of his effort over you in your so called position to be followed by butterfield which should be telling Ince I have to improve to get in the team or I have to get my agent to get me out of here, which do you think it will be by the end of January?
September 14, 20168 yr I think it'll be a different manager who knows what he's doing and starts playing him, because he's on of the best wingers in the division, unlike butterfield who, a good player as he is, is a bloody centre mid!

If he's smart, he'll do everything he can to make it work here, as I suspect he's probably got a reputation that other managers don't want on their teams. Unfortunately, football players aren't always smart.
September 14, 20168 yr Either that or we have a manager who thinks he is clever making a point? Don't start him, fine. Leaving him on the bench we needed a goal, were on top but failing to create, criminal.
September 14, 20168 yr Yes we needed ince in second half. A better option as sub that Blackman surely?
September 14, 20168 yr I think it was Ince's mardy face and fed up demeanour on the bench that cost us big time last night......
September 14, 20168 yr Leaving one of the most creative players we have on the bench to prove a point, when we are so bereft of any guile in the final third, is nothing short of criminal. To be fair though the manager seems to think guile and creativity isn't necessary so it's hardly a surprise.
September 14, 20168 yr Blackman or Ince when you need a goal? No contest really, not sure where Pearson's coming from with this one.
September 14, 20168 yr This is such a weird one. Why give him the number 10 shirt and then bench him?
September 14, 20168 yr This is a critical part of Ince's career. At 24, if he drifts for another season or so then it will be very hard for him. Yes he has talent but he has failed at his last couple of clubs and apart from a stellar season or two at Blackpool, his career trajectory is now pretty flat. Started well at Derby but gone flat. Much hype, much potential, lots of "best winger in the league" type of stuff, but little actual evidence to justify either on a consistent basis. At the moment he's just another squad player. Needs to up his game and start producing if he's to stand out.
September 14, 20168 yr Was it really to prove a point as some are saying? Or the fact he has done nothing when given the opportunity so far? Personally I'd of brought him on last night over Blackman, but he hasn't proven anything to NP to warrant game time more than anyone else.
September 14, 20168 yr For me, Ince is such a frustrating player. When he's up for it and giving 100% he lights up the team and creates chances from nothing. When he isn't, he just disappears from the game leaving others exposed defensively. I can see NP being put off by his apparent lack of effort and benching him for that reason. Come on Tom, make the effort and show us (and NP) how good you really are.
September 14, 20168 yr If the intention is to give Ince a kick up the backside and he starts at Bristol and has a blinder then I guess it will have worked. but if he keeps leaving him On the bench and ating centre mids out wide or even worse...Blackman, then I give up on Pearson.
September 14, 20168 yr i know there are a lot of folk on here who says Ince sulks and doesn't give his all but I always see him working hard. yes sometimes you can see a scowl when something doesn't come off but I bet half of that is internal self criticism. I'd always have him on the pitch at some point or another. Makes things happen does Tom
September 14, 20168 yr Devil's avocado here When Ince came on against Newcastle he really didn't make much of a difference. Not saying Blackman was the right man to bring on - just that Ince has been poor under Pearson too.
September 14, 20168 yr I like the lad, although he certainly isn't his Dad. The problem with him is he is easily shown inside onto his left foot. Great for him if he can drive a ball on the run into the top left hand corner with players all around him...but he cannot.
September 14, 20168 yr Ince has to play. I know how frustrating it can be watching Ince at times trust me! But he can score goals and he can make things happen. Time to get the best out of Ince and hopefully get him to do it consistently! I'll put it out there: he is one of our best players!
September 14, 20168 yr Not sure why people are surprised - he hasn't played well as a wide midfielder for years. Forest, Palace, Hull all tried to do the same. It's not his position. What makes it worse is that Butterfield has played better there in the two games he's played, and he's even further out of position!
September 14, 20168 yr Can anyone remember a good bit of play from Blackman EVER whilst in a Rams shirt? There would have been more hope of getting something from Ince last night if he had been brought on and played centrally. But the substitutions were too late and unimpressive last night and that is Pearson's responsibility.
