Osman would be a great signing, but as others have mentioned we're massively overloaded in centre midfield.

Fletcher is absolute dog doo and always has been. I'd rather Pearson tried to get Bent firing again.

Why would anybody consider Adebayor?  Sure he has the talent, but he only ever puts effort in when he is trying to secure a lucrative contract.  He would be an high wages and he would have no incentive to give 100% after we offered him a deal and the high tempo of the championship would not be to his liking.  He will have a negative destabilising impact on whatever club he signs for next.  Can't see Pearson having anything to do with this half-hearted chancer.

Only two realistic free transfers from that lot that would add something are Mariappa and Sidwell. Mariappa would offer similar coverage to Shotton (RB and CB) but is probably better. Sidwell will be a good signing for any Championship side - low or high. With the need for an experienced, ball winning midfielder, he could be a very good option for us. The rest would be on too high a salary and/or offer nothing.

Our squad also needs trimming too!

Flamini is still a good player but I would imagine on very high wages.

It's easy to get caught up on famous names but these players are being released for a reason.

Might be better to get a few on the way up not on the way down.

Although I don't think we need a lot of free transfers, I would certainly like 1 of the 4 mentioned just to add experience. We s9metim3s miss that bite in a DM role and I thikk Flamini would add that. I also think Fletcher would give fantastic cover for Martyn. I don't think we need a lot of players just the right players in the right positions. A real DM is needed one that breaks up play and would run through a brick wall if one suddenly appeared. That allows Thorne, Hughes, Bryson etc to play their proper roles.

Was just for easy reference really. Some people need a reality check in terms of what we can attract, and also what the likes of Palace are able to pay and are aiming for. Realistically even the likes of Fletcher are out of our reach. A year ago the likes of Hangeland would have been a yes but the ones I think maybe to are 35 and become a no. All that appeals to me now Sidwell is no longer free are Mariappa and Sessegnon.

Any player well over 30 that hasn't played much the season before should be avoided like the plague.  Let's not judge them at their pomp, but on last season.

Do we really want a player who has managed half a dozen games for a poor top flight team and is getting no quicker?

Sounds like a Robbie Savage scenario...
