Something has happened behind the scenes.

Looks very much like he didnt have the backing of the senior players.

How many of the players have improved under his tenure?

Style of play has been dull.

For me the correct decision. We are on a downward curve and something had to happen. Hats off to Mel, he is a proven winner and he could see the signs that things werent right.

Bloody hell, some folk think 30 games isn't enough. You think 45 minutes is enough.

Only if you think I was being serious.

It was a pre-emptive strike,

I've seen a ton of people coming out the woodwork re: Clement claiming to have known it was a rubbish appointment from the start, thought I'd post something negative that I could claim dibs on in 3 months to see if I could emulate the aforementioned *********

All those who are unhappy with this decision. Watch us tear this league apart now, and THEN tell me how you feel.

Bookmarked

If Paul Clement had to go this week, did it really need to be 6pm on Monday?

The timing of it stinks. Maximum impact - evening news, local radio phone-in. And conveniently timed for there to be no time for anyone at the club to speak to the media.

Dirty, Dirty Derby County.

I suspect the "Wassall until the end of the season" line is just to stop speculation around who we're after. Otherwise, I don't see the point of sacking PC now. Surely better to have let him have the rest of the season and increase the chances of him either walking or being poached by Bayern so as to prevent us from having to pay out compensation.

Personally, I'm not outraged by this decision. The appointment was a gamble to begin with, and it's fairly evident that we've not really moved forward at all this season, in fact, we've probably regressed. This has become abundantly clear over the past month.

In terms of Mel, well there's the issue of the appointment - they've obviously massively miscalculated PC's ability to do the job, and that sits squarely with the recruitment team. Other than that, it's all speculation. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes and who's doing what. Could be best case scenario, could we worst case, impossible to say at this point.

Congratulations to Darren, and good luck to him. I just hope that the Academy doesn't suffer.

Irrespective of what now happens on the pitch, Mel has failed.

Failed to appoint the right coach.

Failed to create an environment in which the coach could succeed.

Failed to work inside 12 months with two coaches deemed amongst the best in Europe.

Failed to stick to what he said.

Failed to keep his nose out of matters which are not his specialism.

Failed to realise he is on a bigger learning curve than PC.

He should resign.

Chin up PC - you're best out of this environment. It's not good for the important things in life - honesty, decency, integrity, loyalty.

Wonder if Sam will be next. Presumably, as he can no longer even write a letter to season-ticket holders.

Mel Morris could murder a few innocent children and some people would find a way to praise him for it.

Look where we were 18 months ago. The team, the buzz, the innocence. 2 managers and £25m later... we're everything you hated about football.

C'mon, we're horrible. If this was another club you'd think so.

But because it's a local bloke and he's chucked some money at your team... you've been bought

Can't help feeling a bit like this at the moment too.

I'm sure things will seem better in the morning.

Let's hope we get the same reaction as the last time we surprisingly sacked the manager..... made the playoff final!

I would have been happy to give him until the end of the season, but being honest the football has in the main been dull and pointless, similar to Clough style (not a dig at Nige as he laid the foundations), I doubt he'd have lasted this long if we hadn't ground out the results from Sept to Xmas, I know we were top but it wasn't particularly great to watch.

What frustrated me was the lack of ability to change it, especially after all the talk and tinkering pre season to have a plan b.

He must have been the only person in the ground that couldn't see Preston deliberately line up to leave Shackell and Warnock free to have the ball as they are the 2 worst with it at their feet, then his post match comments about keeping possession above all else and not doing what the opposition did in playing risky 50/50 balls, when they had 3 great efforts which 2 needed excellent blocks which were goal bound and we had 1 real effort just wide near end of game..... and I think we played better v Preston than we have for a while! Too stubborn comes to mind.

Also, why do so many on here think the players were foisted onto him, do you think he had no say?

Not bitter much.  Perhaps Neil Clement needs to become acquainted with the divisions current form guide with us rock bottom then he may have a slightly more balanced outlook

Or an even more balanced outlook would be to add the previous 25 too, with a whole two losses.
