think he’ll get a lot stronger too over the next 3 years. For him, another season in Div1 will be a good thing I reckon

whilst we’re at it despite his height nor can he head the ball, tho he has a good trick where he does a dummy header, then the ball hits the defender and goes in. Funny thing about his pace is that when pressing and tracking back he is pretty fast but as soon as he gets the pesky ball thingy, he hits the slo-mo
However he does work like a Trojan and I’d argue he had the purest scoring strike of last season (yes, better than Bird’s worldie). Bristol Rovers maybe, PP - at inside right just inside the box he larruped a firm square ball from the left with his right foot and absolutely buried it. It almost burst the net (but sadly didn’t open the floodgates for him)
I don’t think he’ll score 20 but it may be that when not blinded by Didzie’s brilliance he will be better.

Top lad , hope he reaches the level his work and attitude to the game deserves and will always get a warm welcome from me if he plays against us

there’s a lot to be gleaned from the ratings. One observation tho is that some posters rank players by how they play relative to expectations. So if Knight does his usual thing, he’s a 6. That undervalues his contribution because his usual thing is better than the next man’s usual thing. A similar example is Wildsmith who - particularly early in the season - was delivering flawless performances. But for that he was mostly getting 7.5, 8 at best. Because it was what we had begun to expect

guess they gave him a pair of pink floppy ears and a drum. He was probably still going when they all went to the pub

Absolutely correct Sir. In that sense, they are a flawed indicator of how well a player played; when Knight played right-back at the early part of the season, his average rating was little above a 6 because although he did a sound job for the team, his impact was reduced compared to what fans’ expectations were of his impact following his midfield performance.
The general amount of variation per player among fans’ ratings is quite large which shows how expectation and inherent bias work; they are not a “pure” value of a player’s impact.

Knight v Hendrick? Irish terrier v Irish setter. Different breeds, body types so different development

We'll see. He has that the attitude and will gather the bulk. I fancy he'll be heading off somewhere for a lot of money within 2 years.

We got very lucky with Hendrick - an ok footballer that hit somewhat of a purple patch and we were able to make a lot of money off him. When you actually look at his career - he’s had one good year, 14/15, the rest of the time he’s been average to below average. Four goals last season was actually his best return since then which speaks volumes.
He’s never been more than a Championship level footballer, at best. I expect Knight to have somewhat of a similar career. Hendrick is a better footballer technically, but Knight has a better engine. Hendrick could disappear in games too, tendency to hide and keep his head down. Long spells playing very safe but would pop up with a moment of magic.

love his spirit. Hard to know whether he can become a more complete footballer; or whether his destiny is to streak past lower league defenders again and again, and then get tangled up with the bye line. Similar questions arose irt festy - is he a thrilling one trick pony? Or is he a Rahim Sterling in the making? The (more) interesting question is : how should you coach players like this so as to give them the best chance of expanding their repertoire.

Billy Sharp is actually a really decent bloke as someone who has had personal dealings with him.
I can’t believe people are annoyed at him for not taking being called a sex offender in good spirits.

We’re not the only club. He gets it most weeks for the simple reason he bites so easy. He also bites too often which is why he’s a tubby f*cka

kevinhectoring got a reaction from Rample in Will any of the new signings be made captain?
doesn't play to Bird’s strengths and I don’t think Fozzie is quite right for it. Hourihane (is he staying?) would be almost as poor a choice as Jason Knight was when he was 19. Bradley might be the one. Don’t think Warne will be in a rush to announce it

hmmm I’d have thought it was a carefully scripted message aimed at getting a deal over the line. Telling the world the bids are insufficient but not far off seems a blatant effort to wring a little more out of one of the bidders; to allow him to reinvest asap
You’re suggesting PW might be prejudicing a deal by wading in. Well that’s more than problematic if the result is an unhappy JK is playing for him next season.
I think we should give PW the benefit of the doubt on that one

seems likely Warne would have asked the club to let it be known he was available for offer. But not much in the way of rumours so most likely outcome is he’ll have yet another season for us on the edge of the first team
