There has been loads hasn’t there, we probably brought in some of them due to him being out with his serious injuries but not one of the replacements have ever looked better

Derby's recruitment in the fullback areas has been diabolical in the past 30 years. If i had to make an all time XI from the past 30 years i'd be looking at Fozzy, Brayford or Bogle. All solid championship full backs in their prime, but hardly a good return. Anyway moan over, well done Fozzy.

Plus he clearly doesn't want to leave Bristol (the place) as he waited around so long after his release from City to sign for Rovers.

The sooner CM retires the better.

Would've been happy to have signed him over Waggy or Wash in the summer but alas we didn't and with Collo pulling his weight, signing another 30 odd year old doesn't make much sense now.

  3. Can't see Bird leaving in the window purely because I can't see anybody spending £1.5m+ on him when his contract expires in the summer. I know we'll be entitled to compensation and my guess may be complete nonsense but i doubt we'd get £1.5m+ compo.

Warne seems to rate him which is fair as he is our best midfielder, however for saying he's one of our own and has been with us for years, my personal attachment to him is minimal.

Think he'll leave if we don't go up and is we do get promotion it'll be 50/50 if he stays or not. As long as he gives his all until the summer thats all we can ask for.

Unfortunately, he's just not very good, and at 24 he's unlikely to improve by much in the future. It's as if our recruitment team went searching for a "more athletic Korey Smith". Neither are good enough to play the sole DM role, and neither offer enough going forward to play further forward. Bird gets criticised for a lack of end product, but he's like De Bruyne in comparison to Fornah.

Think your post is slightly harsh, but can't really disagree.

Think Fornah's probably an average league 1 midfielder. Signing a well rounded centre mid must be a tough gig admittedly but we really struggle to find a balance between goal scorers (Hourihane and Sibley) who can't really defend and defensive minded players who can't score (Bird, Smith and Fornah). Maybe Thompson is the golden ticket?

  5. If we could keep JJ and bring in another forward then i'd be happy.

Would hate to extend JJ's deal only for him to break down a day after deadline day. That said, we'd need to move one of our forwards on if we brought two in which doesn't seem viable.

Therefore I guess JJ as a gamble, then a quality winger and attacking centre mid will suffice.

  6. Sickener.

But as others have said, as long as we react accordingly you just have to accept today for what it is. Plus when you play 100mph football 3 times over a small period against 3 good teams it was always going to be hard to sustain.

Went to the game and thought Warne’s tactics were sound . Up against a dogcrap team with dogcrap players , who tried to play like Man City . Just wait for them to give us the ball and put it in the net . We should have been 4 up after 30 mins , only taking advantage of one of their gifts. Should never have been hanging on at the end .

Yep watched it on stream and if every team played like them we’d win every match.

I know they’ve had points deductions etc. but if they put that sort of performance in most weeks then I’m surprised the Wigan fans can stomach the it.

We’re still only fourth, despite the recent form.

Someone had be the Christmas grinch, and it had to be me.

Just shows that the criticism earlier in the season was justified. We’ve gone on an unbelievable run and we’re 4th. Without Warne and the lads turning it around we’d be sat around 9th with 6th place our only hope.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Whoever has the best January will go up automatically.

I thought it was an abysmal performance glossed over by the fact that we somehow managed to win it. We would not have done if Smith had not got injured and replaced by Fornah

But we did win. If we sacked Warne and his successor came in I doubt most of us would care if we stole a victory.

Whilst today doesn’t banish any demons for me regarding Warne, a wins a win and better to feel good about it than pick fault IMO.

It’s better than the current alternative though. The pedestrian nature of Hourihane/Smith just doesn’t work. They don’t have the movement on or off the ball.

Yeah agree we haven’t got much option. Feel like we’re missing that magic in the middle but can’t see us pursuing that kind of player until Hourihane has gone.
