That would make Warne sense as Barkhauzen has been scoring and assisting
Overall play leaves a lot to be desired. Plus when the chips are down i have 0 confidence he'll come up trumps.
Ok to have in the squad and he does get on the score sheet but shouldn't be a regular for me.

Who can say? On the transfer thread the 'joy' seems to revolve around paying a fee! 😄
Who will he replace?
Barkhuizen hopefully.
Obviously if he stinks the joint out and isn't better than Barkz then questions should be asked.

Who'd of thought that a player that claimed that they have a better skillset to hold up a ball over Harry Kane isn't a tactical mastermind.

I thought the Knight money went on paying the Jozwiak balance.
We settled the dispute with Poznan in August, around the time of Knights transfer.
Great shout. Either way we've missed out on key funds in the summer. Hopefully there's no more skeletons in the closet.

Are we actually skint or we just being mindful of how we spend after the MM fiasco?
There's surely a difference, just struggle to see where the Knight money went (?)
Knight money went in to the running of the club. Its quite lame and boring and doesn't bode well for an exciting future but that's where we are at.
Believe if we offloaded this month a proportion would be put in the kitty but we don't appear to want to sell this month.

Clearly Ward isn’t actually fit enough to contribute. Brown there to keep a seat warm. Once you exclude them two our bench didn’t look great.

Hasn’t his loan ran out?
Thought we might have heard something one way or another.

Can anyone explain why Manchester City are avoiding answering their 115 charges before the rule changes in August, whilst Forest and Everton must answer them now?
115 charges which has dragged on for how long?
I want to sit here and take the piss out of Forest as nature intended, however it's just wrong how Manchester City are continuing and picking up silverware whilst others are having the book thrown at them.
I agree with this completely. The excuse is that because there’s so many charges it’ll take longer to come to a conclusion.
When judgement day comes I’ll be intrigued by the punishment. -

I read something about 16 points based on the likes amount they’ve gone over by. Obviously, that could be way off, but if it is, that would put them on 4 points.
Shame there’s not a fingers crossed reaction on here.

Only Forest could be deducted points in a season where another team has been hit with a double deduction and 2 out of the 3 promoted teams are useless.

Would you say he would provide better cover than we have when we play 3 at the back
Wouldn’t really like to say without watching him again. But I’m not a big fan of any of our centre mids so to play the law of averages I’d say yes.

So update ( although not much of one ) is that my Charlton insider mate has said CBT is supposedly carrying a knock but believes from what he’s heard he’s played his last game for CAFC and said he believes it is us that’s the main interested party as hasn’t heard any other clubs mentioned apart from us
He thinks a figure of 350k would get him not the 500k that has been mentioned but to me that seems a lot for a player out of contract soon
also another note …Dobson there CM looks like he’s on his way as was taken off yesterday and done a lap around the stadium applauding the fans and is also out of contract soon
I quite like Dobson and is quite a tough player who gets stuck in I actually wouldn’t mind if we got him as well as CBT
Charlton fans love Dobson and I’ve always thought he’s a good CM
Watched 30 mins of the second half and Dobson knows how to hit a 30 yard pass over the top. Can’t say he looked too menacing as a goal threat though. But wouldn’t sniff at him.

Hopefully they both don’t need just a point to be the auto two….. cue boring 0-0 ….
Yep would be sickening, worse than Barnsley taking it easy against posh last season. Although that doesn’t excuse the ref sending curt off.

Peterborough play Bolton last match of the season. Hopefully we’re up by then.

Watched most of the second half of Charlton v posh and Charlton should really have got a second. Annoyingly posh hang on and continue their charge.

Missed a penalty at 2-0 too. Not looking good for them at the moment. Shame posh are winning.

There are several scenarios you post about that seem wrapped up in speculation, Clowes family won’t let him spend so he needs to find investment seems to be the biggest one. What actual evidence is there to back this stance up?
We know from the wide reporting of it that we are subject to a business plan, drawn up by the club and approved by the EFL for 2 years post admin.
We know from what Warne has said across multiple interviews that he has a budget to use (one that Clowes believes is competitive enough to challenge for promotion, based on an interview he gave, with the caveat that nothing is guaranteed). Warne has explained a couple of times now that in a choice of paying wages out for a (perceived) good player on a free was believed to be more cost effective that using the budget on transfer fees and wages, meaning the budget will go further with our current approach (hindsight on one or two of them suggests otherwise of course).
Without visibility of the accounts, or inside knowledge of Clowes’ children’s view on their inheritance, I’m prone to lean into the logic based conclusion that the budget we have is decent but limited and I accept that present reality. We cannot currently throw money around without refrain, there has to be some consideration and limit to what is spent and how, and that’s just how things are for the club at this present moment, that’s how I see it anyway.Think you’ve covered it pretty well. But I think it was after the Stevenage game Derby Telegraph said Warne would have funds in Jan. I’m assuming they’ve written that on good authority. I’m also assuming by funds they don’t mean that few that we’d have to settle for a Harvey White type signing.
We won’t know the answer until Feb 1st but it suggests to me we should be able to make one good signing (at least on loan) before the window closes.
Personally I’d have sold Cashin to fund the window but Clowes and Pearce are it differently. -

Not so sure
Comparing to last season which is what @Caerphilly Ram has done it’s impossible to disagree.
Would I rather watch Didzy than Collins? Yes, would I rather us still have Didzy? Yes. But on output compared to last season we’re doing better. -

I'd argue all the incomings offer more than Springett, White, Davies, Stearman and Chester gave us last season. For al the tedious moaning about Bradley would people rather have Stearman as back up to Cashin and Nelson? Think not.
Of course not and obviously I can only speculate but I’d say Bradley is on x4 what Stearman was so he’s certainly not value for money.
But as a general rule the recruitment for the defence has been good, it’s the other end that’s the problem.

But he has said things like that, that’s what I don’t get. Maybe people just stop listening to all of what he says after picking out sound bites. He has regularly explained that he’s after signing a player or players but there are many variables in the process, and sometimes it doesn’t work out.
To answer your question I think there’s potentially enough in this current squad, provided we don’t lose anyone in Jan, to be promoted (probably via the playoffs). If we bolster that with 3 loan players as we did in Jan 2023 then it could help us further, if we signed a couple of quality permanent additions then autos could be on.
I said in the summer there’s enough firepower to score goals when people were lamenting the loss of McGoldrick, and look at that we’re out scoring last season at this same stage with the goals spread around. There’s more depth, cover and balance in the squad this year than there was last year, so we’re already in a stronger position in that sense in my opinion. We’ve won more points than we had at the same stage. We have capable players to come back from injury. It is already not the same situation we found ourselves in last January and there’s plenty of time left for it to improve further before Feb 1st. I don’t feel the angst about it that others seem to, but I guess they’re entitled to feel that way too.
Fair enough then, I’ll give you your dos McGoldrick hasn’t proven to be a loss. But I can’t help that think without 2-3 good additions we could end up falling away. Even if we get play offs, if we don’t go up it’s a failure.
Like I said, I’m relaxed about our January so far, none of our competitors have set the world alight either. But I just find the unnecessary comments irksome.Ultimately Warne can only spend what he’s got, but unfortunately for him if it goes wrong it’ll be his head on the block not Pearce or Clowes.

He says "two are close but there are no guarantees". If you choose not to hear that then that's your problem.
I’ve said Im quite relaxed with the lack of signings so far. But to play devils advocate I can see why others get frustrated because he doesn’t help himself.

I don't dislike the guy and he's good enough to be part of a successful league 1 squad and currently with his form arguably deserves to be starting. But if CBT signs and is as good as we hope then I can't see NML being the sacrificial lamb.
