BOB BIGGS reacted to Comrade 86 in Craig Forsyth
Let's rewrite history and pretend the lad's the root cause of all our woes. That way we can post a load of spiteful bolarks at the same time as completely ignoring the service he's given the club. Yeah, he had a shocker, yeah, maybe his time is done, I've said myself that I think his legs are gone, but let's show a bit of class and respect because he's earned that much, at very least.

Magnificent servant to the club, the dedication he’s given us over the past 9 years couldn’t ever be undone in one game.

BOB BIGGS got a reaction from Reggie Greenwood in Rooney judged harshly vs Nigel Clough
I wouldn’t argue with that. Like Cocu and Rooney, he inherited a squad that needed vast improvement. I think McLaren, Mark 1, and Rowett had slightly better squads to work with. Lampard, with his 3 loanees, probably had the best set of individuals.
It’s probably just my take on things but I never fancied us to get through those games, even the QPR game, which was one of the most disappointing afternoons I’ve ever had at a football match. After the sending off, I presumed QPR would kick the ball over the stand for another 30 minutes and then sneak it on penalties. Perhaps my glass is always half empty - but in defence, I have been supporting since 1963?

Congratulations @gfs1ram on winning the whole darn thing in the very last minute, commiserations to @Cisse who has led for a good while this season, only to blow it at the very last hurdle.
Thanks to all participants,
HAVE A GOOD SUMMER !!

BOB BIGGS reacted to Wolfie20 in Lee Buchanan - Gone to Werder Bremen
It's about time the young players were cut some slack - Buchanan, Bird and Knight are still only 20 and Sibley 19. You mention Hendrick and Hughes - we knew Will was a special talent, at least at Championship level - but they were 24 and 22 before getting their 'big' moves - who knows what level our youngsters will be at in 4 years time.
They have just had to endure a fight against relegation which would have tested the most seasoned professionals let alone those with very little experience - what a horrendous season in which to try and be fully integrated into the Clubs'senior squad.
One of the saving graces about having no fans in the ground is at least, with things going wrong, the boo boys are kept at bay.

BOB BIGGS reacted to uttoxram75 in Is this our worst ever side ?
Lack of leaders on the pitch. Normally in any group you tend to get a few who are vocal, people who lead and encourage, doesn't matter who the captain is, there's normally two or three who lead from the front.
Without Bielik and Curtis Davies we appear to lack that natural leadership. While players like Shinnie, Knight, Clarke, Byrne even, give everything physically, they are not vocal leaders, the type of characters you want to be constantly giving orders, possibly CKR is in that category but ideally you need two or three further back giving it some vocals, whether encouragement or orders, we seem very quiet.
The players are possibly not the worst technically, certainly no worse than many we've seen over the years but seem rudderless and incapable of making decisions themselves.
I mentioned it after the match yesterday, but the 5 minute period where Swansea won the game started with Joz passing a 5 yard ball 2 yards behind the player it was intended for straight into touch.
At that point, the natural leaders are required to bolster the team, keep the spirits up, arm round Joz, all that kind of stuff.
I get the impression they are all expecting someone else to do it.
Jake Buxton and Richard Keogh would have the same bunch of players safe in mid table. We've probably missed Curtis Davies as much as Bielik for his leadership.

BOB BIGGS reacted to angieram in Melvyn Morris fan club
Okay, posts that are critical of Mel Morris' tenure as owner are not taken down.
Posts which contain personal insults of Mel Morris are.
The same applies to other previous or future owners, players, other posters.
How difficult is it to grasp the difference? Quite difficult for some people judging by the number of posts we have taken down in the last twenty four hours.
If in any doubt please re-read the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you joined the message board. If you don't agree with them, you are welcome to find somewhere else to post your personal insults. I hear Twitter aren't too fussy!

BOB BIGGS reacted to England Ram in Reasons why it has gone wrong.
A million and one reasons but a glaring one is our absolute lack of pace and ability in our front line.
We don’t / can’t turn any defences and get them on the back foot so they never have to worry about it. We play in front of them and lump it up to a distinctly average forward and rarely have players supporting him.
With this in mind we’ve scored the least we have in many a year and with our also porous defence we’ve lost more than we’ve won.

BOB BIGGS reacted to uttoxram75 in The ‘I was right’ thread
I was in the minority of keeping Nigel Clough. He was building a superb team and would have got us promoted on a ridiculously small budget.
-
BOB BIGGS reacted to Nuwtfly in Get him gone.
I think some of that Cloughie sentiment is a bit more to do with him being perceived a bit more as: one of us...maybe?
I won’t lie, I’m a bit of a Nigel apologist and always want him to do well when I see him pop up at another club.
He absolutely turned our club around, from top to bottom, after inheriting an absolute mess. We might be in need of someone to do a similar job after this season ?
-
BOB BIGGS got a reaction from Dordogne-Ram in Get him gone.
Cocu desperately needed forwards/goal scorers and was equally denied them in his transfer windows. Presumably, transfer embargo, lack of finance etc were already biting.
I accept he had to go but I’m afraid Rooney hasn’t been any more impressive. He’s had lots of time, and unlike Cocu, had Bielik available for a while. What a player he was in his short time on the pitch this season. Another few games and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

BOB BIGGS reacted to jono in El DerbyCo
Quite common in most clubs. The candidates all had suitable CV’s ... None of us were fundamentally opposed to any of the appointments at the time. We might have had a dislike of either Pearson’s 1970’s PE teacher mode or the razzmatazz of Lampard but they were all typical of football. We have had every variety with the exception of trying to recruit the sort of tough guy agricultural manager with a “proven record” (although Pearson might fit that bill) . where everyone would have moaned about the lack of ambition.
The transfer policy “errors” started with Bryson and Hughes being injured in the same match which lead to panic buying at inflated prices. At the time, these were seen as bold, supportive and positive moves. Your are eating hindsight by the KFC family bucket load.
The financial state of the club ? .. Mel filled it with money .. some spent well, some badly .. We haven’t had a fiscal mismanagement situation or anything “taken” from the club by Mel. We got in a mess on FFP and Mel coughed up by buying the stadium and paying the club money for it.
Sam Rush ? Is Mel really responsible for another man’s ethics ? ( or lack of them ? )
The fiasco ? .. Someone broke their pledges or didn’t meet their obligations .. it wasn’t Mel. Maybe Mel shouldn’t have trusted them but good business and life is defined by trust. You have to start somewhere. Has anyone thought about Mel here ? He has obviously had some serious health issues yet he hasn’t flinched from being a DCFC man
yes, for sure, be sceptical or wary of new owners, we all are, we care about our club, but Mel has been a straight shooter from day one. Some of the things he’s done or wanted to do didn’t work out but he is trustworthy beyond doubt . Now maybe those he has trusted are sharks .. but that’s a different story.
I cannot believe how you have such a judgmental attitude to a guy who has given his best efforts and a shed load of money to this club. Your judgement is littered with an astounding lack of logical analysis.

BOB BIGGS reacted to Comrade 86 in Kaide Gordon - signed for Liverpool
I can understand people being frustrated when young players we've nurtured and brought though the ranks nick off at the first available opportunity, to be honest. Given Wazza has had him in the senior squad recently, the onward path is pretty clear if he stays, after all. He's signed as a scholar until he's 18, but we're told he's been offered a pre-contract which he's not signed. You'd like to see young players (under the guidance of their parents), sticking around for at least a single season at the club that is, in a major regard, responsible for their development, but it seems that is not the way it works these days. For me, that's a shame. I'd have dearly loved to see him stay but no doubt the big fish are offering to throw comparatively huge money at him and his parents and we clearly can't compete with that.
For all of that, I hope Kaide prospers at Liverpool for several reasons; firstly, he seems to be a good kid and a likeable one at that. Secondly, we could always use the sell-on / add-on fees. And lastly, as a further testament to the excellence of our Academy set-up and another reminder that there are aspects of Mel Morris' tenure that some less gracious fans might appreciate a little more than they clearly do.

We all need a Boost though. We need to hear from M@M about the takeover as soon as possible. When it comes to the Crunchie, we’re so short of Celebrations at present and there’s no Revels for us......( Yes, I’m bored?)
