I b*****y well hope so but it seemed Mel was seduced by the Lampard effect and somehow thought Rooney could replicate it. But for me Rooney had been poor and slow and an impediment to success for all his teams for a decade. Your two Rooney posts are very fair and make good points and although I dislike Rooney for it, you can't blame him for not looking a gifthorse in the mouth, but you can blame Mel. Our owner made a great decision with Cocu and then pulled the rug from under him by bringing in Rooney. And now we're completely stuck and the work Cocu was doing, as he was tasked, to raise the value of academy products as a business model for the club, has completely fallen by the wayside.

FlyBritishMidland reacted to Ruud Aralliss in 21/22 Season Tickets
Not necessarily.  Some Season ticket holders have already said that they are “ trying “ other seats, meaning the possibility of somebody not able to get the seat they paid for last season. I’m sure people trying these seats are not opting for cheaper ones. Sometimes you cannot be on line securing tickets as soon as they are released.  There seems to be a bit of “ so what, deal with it” going about, but if you sit with groups of family and friends and can’t get your seat it could be a big deal.  Some people pick seats related to the amount of stairs they can comfortably climb or an isle seat as they struggle to pass people, there are fans with OCD. Sometimes it’s not as simple as it is might seem to some.

Surely the most logical solution is to play your best players in their correct position, rather than move them elsewhere to fit more senior players into the side.
This was Liverpool’s undoing when they played Fabinho and Henderson at CB. Not only were they weaker at CB, but they weakened their midfield in the process.
Derby must play Byrne and Buchanan at fullback. Shinnie in midfield etc. rather than shuffle the side around to fit 11 senior players.
We’d stand a far better chance naming a youngster at CB alongside Forsyth than say bringing Buchanan or Byrne inside or Shinnie into the back four.
Hopefully Davies and Jags will be here by then, but if not, Solomon would be my choice.

FlyBritishMidland reacted to Day in Let's talk about bans, warnings and closing of accounts
Let's talk about bans, warnings and closure of accounts, something that I try not to discuss as members are not always aware of what has gone on so a public court is not the way to determine if any warning/ban should be issued.
I just wanted to be transparent about a few things and it will be a lengthy post, sorry.
Now you may have noticed Bris Vegas has returned to the forum tonight following a permanent ban, he's not the first to have done and he won't be the last.
Not all members that are banned permanently will be allowed to return, this all comes down to the offence and how you react and handle yourself.
Without sharing Bris's message, he made a request through another member on Twitter, polite, no insults, that was then forwarded to the moderators room where a discussion is had an a vote. Including myself we have 10 moderators, I abstained from the vote to allow for a majority and as a result Bris was reinstated.
This is not a well don't blame me, but it's a point that I wanted to share as I have another member later where I have been accused of having an agenda.
We have had no issues during Bris's ban, there hasn't been an influx of emails and abuse through other platforms.
The next member I will show you was banned for something that went beyond the forum and a moderators personal life, a member that would never be welcome back on the forum regardless of how they behaved.
I have received hundreds of emails from all different email addresses, tonight I was given this screenshot as I have the user banned on Twitter, as I have all his previous accounts.

As you can see, he still regular reads the forum to be that quick on Bris's ban being retracted. Now, look, I find this funny to be honest, given all the communication we have had, I've warned him that the Police would be contacted which I was serious about, he must think this tweet would somehow change my mind.
    Sorry but no.
Putting the offence to one side, sadly we do see this level of response far too often to warnings and bans.
Absolute full transparency, if you react with any kind of insults, profanity to the moderator or via email to myself following a warning, you will receive another warning immediately which will trigger a ban. And if it's in response to a ban, don't ask a week later to be reinstated whilst it's fresh in our minds.
All we ask is for some respect, we understand the majority of members will disagree with their warnings and bans, believe me, I wish we never had to give any, but if we are to keep running a platform that welcomes all views (within forum guidelines), from time to time we must issue warnings to remind users of the guidelines, or bans where members have behaved in a way that we do not think are suitable for this forum.
Whilst I understand we are the most popular forum, and I say this not bragging, but calling it as it is, but we do not hold any members hostage here, there are other forums out there you can use if you do not agree with our forum guidelines or have issues with any of our moderation team.
Recently we have seen an increased amount of members that have recently requested to close their accounts, this is usually following some disagreement with another member and made in the heat of the moment, tired of the negativity or following a warning.
In most cases members are given a 30 day cooling down period where if they change their mind, the request is forgotten, However other cases where requests are accepted with immediate effect for a variety of reasons.
We do not appreciate members that have closed their accounts to return under different usernames shortly after. We understand at times frustrations boil over and I would advise all members that get a little tired of the forum, want out, to just logout, take a few weeks away before deciding to close your account.
This is not just a forum, but now a community that has been built over a number of years, a community that has seen real friendships that have extended outside of the forum. Having members that have basically given themselves a clean slate, know all the personalities and inside jokes go "undercover" goes against what we are trying to achieve here.
For those that have made it this far into the post, thank you, I appreciate it as it's been a difficult year for the moderation team as I'm sure you can imagine. I have asked earlier for respect and that works both ways, so when I can be transparent and feel it's important, I will be.
With that I am working on a system where members are made aware when their posts have been hidden which will be left with the reason by the moderator. I have been and on forums myself, there is nothing more frustrating when a post is removed and you have no idea why. I get it, and I'm working on it.
If you have any questions or feedback on any of this, I'm happy to read and respond where I can.
tl;dr Take your warnings and bans on the chin, don't abuse/insult moderators and you will be fine. And don't close your account unless you have absolutely no intention of coming back.

I’ll also add that I firmly believe Mel brought in Wayne Rooney in a bid to raise the profile of the club in order to sell it.
Rooney the player was never going to come in to the Championship and single-handedly turn Derby into serious promotion contenders. We didn’t sign him as a player for football reasons, despite being arguably England’s greatest ever player.
Mel then doubled down on him by naming him manager. And he’s still yet to sell the club. It was a bold move which ultimately backfired.
With hindsight, I wonder if Mel wishes he never brought Rooney to the club.
I firmly believe if we had never brought Rooney in and stuck with Cocu, signing a few of his targets such as Dursun, Panzo, Dykes, Moore and Dickie, we’d be in a far healthier place now, on and off the pitch.
Cocu was our Nigel Clough. Maybe he would have never have gotten us promoted, but he was exactly what we needed while clearing the decks.

Unfortunately I'm locked in as I renewed in September otherwise i'd be taking a break. Enjoyed going to watch my local side when non-league football was on before christmas and can't stand the Rooney experiment. Hopefully new owners come in, see sense, replace the manager and things turn around on the pitch. Otherwise I'll probably just go to a couple of home matches and try and catch the away games in the West Midlands.

That’s pretty much how I feel.  I just don’t have that buzz any more, or at the moment at least.  We might be in a poor way squad wise and financially.  Mel chased the dream in 15/16 and splashed the cash, it didn’t come off and we’ve paid the price ever since.
I’m really disappointed with the circus we’ve become, including Rooney as manager.  His performance hasn’t been great by anyone’s standards and managers have gone for less.  How on earth we’re paying a rookie a reported £90k a week is staggering.  I think since he’s come here he’s had very little respect for the club or fans in my view.  As a player he did Soccer Aid - imagine Fergies view if he’d told him he was off for a couple of weeks to do that - buying a watch and isolating, coming back clearly unfit, lack of leadership as captain yet somehow gets the managers job.  As a manager a woeful run and bad tactics, he’s continually talking about his bosses in public  and says he wants to restore “pride & dignity” to be plastered all over the internet the next day.  How are the players supposed to respect him.
Like you, I’ve often thought about not renewing but I have.  Now, more than ever, I feel really disillusioned.  I don’t want a millionaire takeover throwing loads of money at the club.  I’m not even that bothered about the PL.  I want a well run club.  I want stability.  I want a manager who I feel has loyalty and respect for the club and us, the fans.  I want to enjoy my football again.

    Good question.
I've had a season ticket for 27 years.
Bar the Lampard season. The last couple under Cocu I lost the buzz massively.
I wasn't enjoying the match itself. The matchday experience I love. The pub before etc.
Same with away days. Looked forward to the day but invariably the football would ruin it.
I found myself leaving games early which I never did before.
The football was awful, I don't like what we've become under Mel Morris.
After the season finished I was always like this isn't for me anymore. I think I'm gonna just go to odd games here and there now. I'll still support Derby. I love Derby.
I think being in the same league for so long has removed some excitement, midweek games on the red button too. Made it easy not to go to games on a Tuesday night. Playing teams at home like Reading, Preston etc on a Tuesday night isn't exactly lighting the fire in my belly.
But I always renewed. Always had that fear of missing out. What if I don't go next season and that's the season we finally do it.
Last season taught me that my fear of missing out was unfounded.
So for the first time in 27 years, next season I won't be renewing.
I'll get tickets for odd games here and there.
But I've come to a point where the club isn't what I recognise anymore. I hate everything that comes with this club at the moment.
I'll go back at some point. But for now. I don't want to go.

FlyBritishMidland reacted to loweman2 in The colours of 1884 (please read)
After years of work and research here it is !
The Derby County shirt worn in the inaugural season of 1884 by the pioneers of our club, Cambridge Blue, Amber and Chocolate Brown the first colours of the Rams, it was thought that the early colours were blue but it was a shade of blue called Cambridge Blue which is actually more of a green. The badge was the badge of the Derbyshire FA that a player was permitted to wear if they had been selected to represent the Derbyshire FA.
we have had two made by a local tailor after we sourced the correct colours and the materials, the embroidery was done separately, even down to mother of Pearl buttons, it is to add further integrity to the book but moreover to show where the club evolved from, the team that wore these colours set the precedent for all those that have followed, the shirts will be on display at our Rams Heritage roadshows later in the year.
brought to life after 137 years by Phil Lowe & Jason Shardlow.

Interesting to see a decent number of you say that you don't really have a problem with the manager of your club getting pi55ed up to the point where he falls asleep in the hotel room of a group of young woman (and gets subsequently snapped doing so) just a few hours after saying he was looking to bring some "dignity and pride" back to the club.
I was expecting more to have a problem with it considering our recent history with staff members getting drunk.
Is it now a problem for Wayne and Coleen? Yes, but let's not pretend this isn't a problem for us, too.
Once again we are having our name dragged through the mud. When is this going to stop happening?
Does he deserve to get the boot for this? Probably not. He deserves to get the boot for nearly getting us relegated to League One (thanks again, Marlon Pack). But it certainly isn't going to win him any supporters, in my view.

Show me any player attacking who can recreate their past form, or build up any new form based on 20 minutes here and there played out of position in a team which has a defence-first setup.
Funnily enough the first time (actually only) he was used correctly, in position, in an attacking setup with other people to play off was Brentford away, scored a good goal to get us a point.
After that? Back to the wing!  He did have a good game out of position on the right but that was when we trialled the  Waghorn/Gregory combo so he had 2 CFs to play with, he wasn't just stuck out there on his own with the nearest attacker / midfielder 30 yards away from him
Yes he gives away silly free kicks and gets a few bookings. Does that justify his constant misuse and the nullification of any attacking threat he might bring to a team already utterly desperate for some attacking flair?
The fear of him giving away a free kick that leads to a goal or picking up enough bookings to be suspended for 4, 5 games a season is understandable when results are so tight and can hinge on so little but it works both ways. Use him properly and the benefits should far outweigh the risks.

What I’m saying  is, he’d do himself more credit if he simply said: ‘I’m in the middle of a poo storm. But you know what, I’m focused on one thing, getting the best out of the players on the pitch. “  What the silly chap doesn’t realise is: saying that, and acting it out, is how he best protects his brand. It’s also how he gets the best out of the players. Anything else is self interested treachery that damages our club.

Percy tweeted on Weds we were set to offer contracts to Davies, Wisdom & Morrison
Rooney is playing a number of trialists 2 weeks out from the opening game with seemingly no certainty they can play in League games
Tom Carroll is training here whilst apparently having a contract offer on the table from QPR
Like the tweet Alan Nixon has just put out suggests, think there's a bit of politics going on & probably some media pressure being applied by Rooney, knowing the fans will direct heat at Mel & Pearce. My wild guess is that the takeover is close (some suggestion on twitter this might be the 'other reason' for not being to sign players) but wonder if some dispute over price/debts to resolve.

Ok,be good to have Stretton as an option.
In respect of Baldocks miss (and the others in the game)..this has been a theme throughout Wayne's time in charge and we have to lay some blame at his feet...he's the head coach after all and in charge of instilling the mindset into the lads so they feel confident and happy to take that chance as and when it presents itself and without fear.
To say the manager doesn't influence these things, just look at the difference and massive increase in goals when Mac took over from the cautious Clough?...we were all of a sudden scoring goals for fun because of what changed in their coaching and management.
And that wasn't a team full of stars and known names, the majority were cheap or loan players from essentially nowhere brilliantly recruited by Clough, but Mac was able to mould them into a cohesive squad of confident players whose sum was greater than its parts.
We need to stop making excuses for the coaching team,it's gone on for too long..
