Steve Buckley’s Dog got a reaction from I know nothing in Carabao cup third round draw
Nice to coincide this with our court case against Liverpool for lost revenue from qualifying for Europe in 1989. Sure Steve Gibson could advise us on that one and as it was pre-premiership the EFL would have jurisdiction so things should go pretty smoothly.

I enjoyed that. Good cup tie. Did their fans know this was an early round EFL cup tie? They are aware that our average home attendance is always above their own? Strange bunch but a good turn out to be fair.
Sibley has to start on Saturday.
Some decent performances. Both teams could have had 4 in all honesty. We looked like a threat. Knight in midfield adds so much. Well played Derby-deserved it I think on balance.
The referee was abysmal though. 3 times Robinson dived and to be fair he called it right but why no yellow? Bartley taking out Knight, the two tackles from behind not getting yellows. All very strange. The ball going out after their keeper saved from Sibley and carrying on. I could go on. Doesn’t matter now though does it. Onwards and upwards.

Thompson 5.5 - gave the ball away time and again, and not just from the stupid passes give to him in the first half which thankfully we stopped doing in the second half

And this is partly why the EFL are done for. If folk were valuing property in this fashion, they'd end up in prison, but if the 'asset' is a footballer, yeah, fill ya boots. Meanwhile, the body that nearly hounded us into liquidation for the heinous crime of alleged FRS102 non-compliance, stands idly by, whistling and averting their gaze. Nothing to see here, apparently!

Steve Buckley’s Dog reacted to Woodley Ram in Matchday Thread - Shrewsbury Town v Derby County (16/08 19:45)
I have two comments about the game
Collins needs help up front, far too often he is on his own in the box with 2-3 defenders to beat. I like playing out from the back, but we seem to reset when we get the ball, we seem to get the ball back, wait for the opposition to re group and then attack. We need to move the ball quicker whilst the opposition defence has not reset. -

I think it all sounds like witchcraft. What’s wrong with gathering the family round the Bakelite wireless?

I agree that we can’t ignore the facts that we are behind other teams in terms of preparation (not sure we can use that excuse much longer) and that we have indeed signed a lot of players in a very short period of time that will need time to gel. But, on the other hand, there is nothing wrong in making critical observations provided they are reasonable and we remain mindful of the mitigating circumstances.

I remember that. We ran back to the car to listen to the radio because we had no idea whether the goal had stood or not. Did Dennis Tueart score it? I am presuming so - it normally was him in those days!

I remember Sunderland away - possibly 1991? First game of the season - Comyn and Coleman’s debut - where we all got locked in afterwards, standing in a holding pen in the pissing rain, to allow the Sunderland fans to disperse. It went on and on until 5 o’clock when the whole Derby contingent started singing the theme tune to the sports results programme - der der der der der de der der etc etc. happy days - got coined in the head and jumped after the game. In conclusion, they need to keep it. Far better tradition than getting coked up, throwing beer around and falling asleep as the game starts if you ask me. Classified results are part of the tradition. Far better than zombies on their phones. As for radio generally - couldn’t live without radio 6 introducing me to some great new music.
