Happy Valley... I really liked the first series, though it lost me a bit in the second. Despite that, curiosity got the better of me and I've just watched the final episode of series 3. Bloomin marvellous would be my appraisal. Not sure I agree with the implausible bits. Enough red flags on the car journey that I was actually thinking, best run for your f****** life long before he got in the car!
More importantly, I thought Sarah (Insert the)shire was absolutely brilliant. Overall, yes it's quite parochial, yes, it occasionally borders on cosy, but the sum of its parts make it top notch telly for me. FWIW, I've never seen a series yet I couldn't have picked holes in had I wanted too. The trick is to entertain the viewer sufficiently that there's no will to over-analyse and HV did that for me in spades. In a totally different stratosphere to LoD for my money, so I'm glad I changed my mind about completing the series.

You're welcome. If there's anything else that perplexes you about why teams in higher leagues are better then the teams below them, do feel free to ask old chap!

Post of the night (out of many contenders). Brought a tear to my eye. Thank you DC.
We've come so far so fast. And yet it feels the foundations are solid. Come on you Rams.

To be fair, they change the rules so often these days, I wouldn't have been surprised if i missed it! God knows how the refs keep up.

Apologies, you're both right, I was thinking of only a DOGSO where the rules were downgraded a couple of seasons back to only issue yellow for a DOGSO if advantage is applied. I wasn't thinking of serious foul play or violent conduct. Serves me right for sneaking onto the board quickly while at work.

Its amazing how after match we have the choice to talk about all the good stuff, or moan about the poor play, or who has let us down. Today we didn't have that choice. There is absolutely nothing to complain about from a derby point of view. And yes, like many I was worried by the team selection, enforced as it was, but it turned out to be "nay worries", as they say in Scotland.
Roberts is a good option to have at right back, and Curtis was safe enough, in part because of the lack of pace up front from Bolton. I know they have lost a couple of important players up front, but I don't think pace is their game. Their tactics were to lump it to the big man, or into the channels, and it didn't work. An important factor in this was our pressing, which I don't think I have seen as effectively employed before, especially as we kept it up all match. Thank you Jason knight for making it possible, and the new fitness regime!
A couple of times I had to wonder how Bolton managed to be in 5th place because they didn't really perform. The nearest to an attempt on goal in the first half was a cross that bobbled through to Wildsmith, and their only shots on target were at 56 minutes, 73 minutes and the goal, which should have been a goal kick. But they didn't perform because we didn't let them! And we have done that many times this season, particularly since Mr Warne took up residence.
NML had his defender on toast all match long, Max Bird has stepped up a gear, and our longing for him to toughen up was answered in only the 2nd minute when he bullied a Bolton player off the ball near the corner flag. And his pass to set up the second goal was an absolute peach. I've already mentioned Knighty, and it is good to see Hourihane, who was my least favourite putting himself about with a bit of passion - I don't know what happened, but he has been a different player since he came back from injury. I don't think there is player who can be singled out for playing badly - yet again. And it is getting to what it was like for Mac 1, and indeed the days of Brian Clough and then Dave Mackay, when we didn't wonder if we could win or draw, but how may we were gong to win by!
Today was a great football match, and I went absolutely bonkers berserk for both the goals - something I haven't done for years, because they were two tremendous goals. I was supposed to walk back to the car after the match, but got there without knowing how - almost as though I had floated all the way back! What a feeling!

First half, Curtis looked like a guy that hadn’t started a game since October. Second half, he looked like he had 45 minutes of football under his belt. If he starts on Tuesday, I reckon he’ll look like a player with 90 minutes of football in the tank. Hope that helps everyone ?.

Curtis is at the fag end of his career, just back from a serious injury with his first start, up against a big handfull. He lost a duel or two early, but over the piece he did the necessary, we won and they never looked seriously like scoring until Mr Magoo with the flag at the end.
Tricky game today against a good side, and we completely deserved the victory. Could have had 4.
The tests keep coming, and we keep knocking them over. Fun this. Who knows where it ends?

You’re right, there were 2/3 slip ups or misjudgments early on but I felt he sharpened up as the game progressed. Totally understandable. He’s never been the greatest passer, his headers tend to be clearances rather than steered to a white shirt (which Fozzie does better to my mind) but he has great presence and knows the tricks that CF’s play. Well played Curtis … and he will be all the sharper on Tuesday.

There was a lot of concern leading up to the game about the referee - understandable given some of his past performances- but I thought he had a decent match, particularly letting play continue in the lead-up to our first goal. The odd occasions when he made mistakes were because he was let down by the buffoon running the East Stand line - where on earth do they get these idiots from?

No he didn't. He made some excellent interceptions. Him and Fozzy dealt with them very effectively.

What do you mean "is that it"? I've longed to join the ranks of ITKnowers for years. This could be the making of me becoming a true forum legend, talked about in hushed tones for decades to come instead of just being bullied by @Boycie.

Me and a mate went on the train. It got a bit lively at the station and the old bill quickly tried round us all up to march us to the 'stadium'. I was only a teenager at the time, wearing a donkey jacket as it was damn cold, but every trip was a great away day back then. Remember being on the shoulders of some random bloke after the third went in. I felt on top of the world.
