In a court of law, character references are used along with other evidence. The evidence in his defence was that he was not looking at where he was placing his foot, he was unbalanced at the time and wouldn't have had full control of where his feet were going and there was no lead up to the incident, there wasn't even any excessive force to make it a stamp rather than a tread. I will ask you, the FA or anyone to provide any evidence that this was a deliberate act and not a pure accident.

It was a red card, not a particularly harsh one, certainly not an obvious one, but It was a sending off.

there will be a lot of times this season where players (from our club and other clubs) get away with things that are far more “obvious” than that. It happens, It has been happening since the beginning of the game and is still happening with VAR etc etc. (Which is the last thing we need at this level)

it’s amazing the amount of outrage on here about It to be honest, especially as most of the match day threads are littered with people slagging off Fozzy for being rubbish…..!?

we will miss him, it’s not the end of the world, we aren’t going to go down, we aren’t going to go up….with or without him for these 3 games.

    pretty zen arent I…..?

But is character irrelevant when looking at an incident in detail days after the game? To come to a decision like this, they must show that there was intent and that it was not simply an accident. What proof has come to light, to show this? Surely, if Fozzy was deliberately treading on the player, he would have aimed at a bigger target, like his thigh, not in between his legs.

Yep. It is today and utterly irrelevant.

How many times do you hear the neighbours say “he was such a quiet man” after they find out that their neighbour has killed 20 kids!?

We know Craig’s character and he is an honest and fair footballer. Not a deliberate act; unfair punishment in my book. And as others have pointed out, what about the penalty decisions: the handball by the Florist defender described as “clever” by the Snotts Evening post.

Unfortunately the "character" is totally irrelevant, you cant bring that variable into it at all.

Honestly, I think it was probably a sending off, the ref missed it, so the retrospective ban is applied....put it like this, everyone and I mean everyone would have been crying about it if a Forest player had done it and got away with it.... (see everyone crying about the boro player)

Its just one of those things, it happens, no pathetic conspiracy, it just happens.

Ronaldo left United to join Real Madrid when he was one of the best players in the world and approaching his prime.

No way would he have done it the other way round.

He would have lest Real Madrid to go to FC United if they had offered him enough money.

  5. I honestly don’t think the goals scored is going to be the main thing we have to worry about, the defence is my biggest worry.
we have an ok at best starting defence, but if anyone thinks that 863 year old Davies and 943 year old Jagielka are going to stay fit and be able to play every Saturday and Tuesday from August until May then they are living in a dream land - and without those two, we have a big problem.

The one I saw was Marshall has a basic contract, not exceptional wages, however he has a large clean sheet bonus that hinders our ability to pick him.

Now you can insert your own jokes here about him never getting that bonus as we dont keep clean sheets, but if things are very tight and he gets an extra 6k+ if he keeps a clean sheet......

ha ha ha ha...yeah, contracts are often bandied about for anyone to see...

Have to say it's been one of the few England away games I've missed but I was overseas and returned the previous day.  Didn't see that performance/result coming and having just got back from one country to go out again to Munich (as you corrected me) was a ball ache.  Obviously regretted it since, but had a great night in the pub with the lads as the goals rained in.

Lads that went described it is exactly as you mentioned.

Luton away was an odd one for us.  A few us found ourselves in their seats to the right of the away end and we we're quickly spotted by the locals.  Not surprising the stand wasn't full and slowly more and more lads moved and sat near us.  Thankfully about 7-8 lads that we're sat down from us we're DLF and they made themselves known. Strangely enough Luton then didn't quite fancy it and we finished up being the C Stand for the day.

Did Ipswich away in their end once which was a classic I'll save for another time.

Great stories Gents, enjoyed every one.

We got the tickets off eBay too and they only arrived the day we were leaving for Munich, actually we drove up the road looking for the postman as we were leaving for the airport… thankfully he had them.

the walk back to the hotel, we got fireworks thrown at us as we stood on a petrol station forecourt lining up to get a crate of beer…. That didn’t feel too safe so we hot footed It out of there.
when we eventually got back to the hotel the atmosphere inside was electric, everyone singing and dancing and outside just loads of police sirens and breaking glass.. we went out the next morning and It was carnage…I bought every single German newspaper that day and still have them all…

best England away trip I have ever been on.

Getting tickets in the past was never always straightforward which has meant I’ve been in the wrong end. (Not like that if that’s what your thinking !)

I’ve been away with England and finished up in the Home End a few times, sometimes alone but also with others. It’s normally met with odd looks when you belt out the anthem but on the whole been okay. It’s 20 years since the 5-1 in Berlin and I  know a few who went in the German end that night.

I’ve also done it a few times with Derby (Luton away springs to mind and sat with Cardiff and Wimbledon at Pride Park, plus started the last ever game at the BBG in with the Arsenal fans before being moved to the paddocks after Ashley Wards early goal was celebrated - they we’re not happy)

Have you ever been away (or at Home) with Derby in the wrong end and did you get rumbled.

Would be great to hear some stories to pass the day.

It was Munich not Berlin...and we went in the home end that night.

It had been going off in town all day before the game, we saw loads of gangs of German and English just wandering around smashing the place up, it was a really moody atmosphere and because we had tickets in the home end we almost leave out hotel to go to the game....glad we did..

We decided no one would notice us, sat there in the middle of their main end, didn't say a word to anyone, we were totally undercover, then when Yanker scored for them the row in front of us all turned around and screamed "F you England" "ha you English pigs" etc etc, seems like we hadn't been as "undercover" as we thought.... anyway as the game went on and we equalized we managed to sit on our hands, then when the second one went in we lost it....the locals were fine with us, same for the 3rd, the 4th...but by the time the 5th went in they were getting mightily annoyed, so we went and stood with a group of 10 Milwall fans who were also in there, safety in numbers....

Walking back to the hotel.... that was like the wild west...

I’m fairly sure it was Sheff Weds. They put up a banner saying “thanks for no fences”.

Yep It was definitely Sheff Wednesday.

I still have a couple of my keys from the key club, the system barely worked, maybe I time in 5 the rest of the time the turnstiles were just opened up. We used to go in the key club and walk through into the pop side courtesy of a couple of bent railings that you could squeeze through saving myself who gh money to buy a programme and a bag of chips. Perfect.

nothing will best the seasons when I had enough money to get a season ticket in the C Stand though.
those seasons up there with my mates were the best ever. We saw everything up there…absolutely brilliant.

More space around SJP in general. Nowhere near as compact.

There was plenty of room around the baseball ground to extend It to what we needed, all we needed was a 25k capacity stadium, but the influx of huge sponsorship deals and TV company money had started and Derby didn’t want to miss out on a piece of that pie, the only way they could do this was build a legoland stadium and make It all nice and clean and shiny.

    such a shame

I cant wait to see the back of umbro. Rubbish kits

And yet you have a picture of a player who cost us millions and did nothing in said “rubbish kit” as your avatar…!?

I actually kind of agree with you, best kits we have had in ages were all the kappa ones.

There was a few Red Dogs in front of us in the South Stand.

Was tempted to tell stewards but they seemed a good bunch

I have sat in the Brian Clough stand a few times, totally fine, also had my red dog mates sit with me at the BBG and Legoland with no bother at all…the best though was definitely sitting in the middle of the German ultras as Svens magicians battered them 1-5…now that was hairy…! Ha ha

I can't believe that Wayne has got this mismatch of old / young / unwanted players performing at a level that could have us up with Fulham .

Actual 6 points but even without rose tinted glasses on

    Huddersfield should have been 3

    Peterborough should have been 3

    Boro should have been 3

    Forest should have been 3

    # feeling upbeat

Ha ha 13 points… give me a break; you do know that would put us top of the league don’t you.!!?

We are exactly where we deserve to be, just like every other team in the league is.

For me, it doesn't even come down to Fozzy's prior character. I literally don't think he can move his legs fast enough any more for him to make that action intentionally.

It doesn’t matter for even 1 milli-second what sort of “character” Fozzy has..

I have to say, I have just watched the game and honestly, thought that there was 1 penalty we probably deserved and that Fozzy was lucky to stay on the pitch.

to say It another way, if their full back had got away with the same sort of challenge as Fozzy did I don’t think I would be that bothered.

Started this thread as I think out of everything that either takes us down with the squad size and other issues are biggest problem this season is going to be goals I feel. I’ve looked at players previous seasons and also the player themselves and looked at goals return.

    Byrne - 0 goals

    jagielka - 2 goals

    Davies - 2 goals

    Forsyth - 0 goals

    bird - 0 goals

shinnie - 2 goals. Most goals last season pens and not taking them now

    morrison - 5 goals

    jozwiak - 3 goals

    sibley - 6 goals

    Lawrence - 9 goals

    Buchanan - 1 goal

    baldock - 6 goals

    ckr - 6 goals

    bielik - 3 goals

    Stretton - 5 goals

probably been  harsh and some and more generous on others but obviously a guessing game. But even more I feel we desperately need a 20 a season striker

There is zero chance of us getting a “2 goal a season striker” you do realise the is don’t you…?

last season only 4 strikers got 20 or more in this league, 3 of them are now in the premier league….2 got promoted with their own teams…

Ack, who knows. It’s still a bit of lovely theatre.

I saw him debut at United .. a 17 year old come on and tortured Bolton’s right back. Inside out side, doubling back to do it again then crossed with his heel. He played with such delight. He was a ball player that was so obviously special … I thought … this ones the real thing, this is George Best reincarnated. … He‘S done pretty well hasn’t he.

The story goes that Ferdinand came back from a pre season game .. begging Fergie to sign him.

Good luck to him. I’d Rather United won things than City or Chelsea. How he fits in a team, I have no idea, will it work, o idea either but it’s a great story.

hey let’s get Will back, see how that goes.

I have told this story a million times in life (including loads of times on here) I saw his debut for United thanks to some corporate tickets, and was pretty adamant that he would never make anything and that I could have marked him out of the game…my United supporting mate who sorted the box loves to remind me….he text me earlier today actually about It….ha ha

I don't think United's team is actually that good. Not good enough for the major titles anyway.

The fullbacks are decent at best, but nowhere near the standard of say Liverpool's fullbacks. The midfield of McTomminay, Fred and Matic is no better than West Ham's midfield options.

Pogba is a quality player but lacks structure. Bruno Fernandes is a brilliant player but has yet to prove himself in the big games. Portugal certainly didn't trust him at the Euros.

There are question marks over Marcus Rashford. 11 goals last year wasn't great for a forward. United seem to have more hope with Mason Greenwood, who will now see his playing time restrcited as a centre-forward.

Question marks over Sancho too. Brilliant stats at Dortmund. But was that down to the Bundesliga's open flowing football and not very good defences? Hasn't impressed on the international stage.

Oh and United's goalkeepers aren't on the level of City or Liverpool either. I don't think Klopp, Pep or Tuchel would take many United players at all given the chance.

    But that's just me.

Let’s not mess about here Bris, Pogba is without doubt the best midfielder in the league and you could easily argue, the world.
Bruno has been amazing for them since he signed, his goals per game ratio might dip now though because he won’t be taking any penalties or free kicks anymore..!!!

Sancho will be great for them, he will scare this league to death.

they have a realistic chance this season to push City all the way. (I don’t think they will win It, but they have a great squad)

This isn't meant to be a dumb question but is a 36 year old CR7 any good? I know Man Utd got him for a nominal fee but he'll be 38 when his contract expires.....a lot of Man Utd fans seem to be creaming themselves but where would you place him against other players in the Premiership this season?

I’m not sure he is that good at all actually, he will sell 1 million more shirts and packets of noodles so I guess that’s all they care about..?
he will score 10-15 goals in a season without doubt.

Funny how United have really lost their shine in the last few years, as far as any Brit looking on is concerned. Whereas globally, they seem to be just as iconic as they ever were. From the outside looking in, you’re looking at a couple of second place finishes recently, regular champions league, europa cup finalists, so still consistently among the best teams in England. From the inside, it’s clear they’re in decline and have been for ages. The second places have been a bit deceptive.

From the inside, they’re picking up ageing superstars, with waning powers, to plug holes, ibrahimovic, Cavani and now Ronaldo. From the outside, they’ve got superstars playing for them, who cares if they’re best days are behind them, more names for the back of the shirt.

    it’s weird.

The 2nd best team finishes 2nd not deceptive at all.
they are still the biggest club in the world, and Ronnie signing just highlights that
