Whenever I manage to get up for a game and the majority of the ground start singing that chant really gets me.
Great to hear everybody in fine voice and its sounds amazing, but it is a nod back to the tough times we have been through and are coming out of.
I am in my own little Derby bubble down here, but the worry was all consuming back then, looking on here and the DET for updates and any crumb of positive news.  You don't know what you've got till its (almost) gone.

archram reacted to Alty_Ram in Premier League clubs to vote on scrapping VAR
This seems to be the crux of Wolves' arguments against VAR:
    1) Impact on goal celebrations and the spontaneous passion that makes football special.
    2) Frustration and confusion inside stadiums due to lengthy VAR checks and poor communication.
    3) A more hostile atmosphere with protests, booing of Premier League anthem and chants against VAR.
    4) Overreach of VAR's original purpose to correct clear and obvious mistakes, now overanalysing subjective decisions and compromising the game's fluidity and integrity.
    5) Diminished accountability of on-field officials, due to safety net of VAR, leading to an erosion of authority on the pitch.
    6) Continued errors despite VAR, with supporters unable to accept human error after multiple views and replays, damaging confidence in officiating standards.
    7) Disruption of the Premier League's fast pace with lengthy VAR checks and more added time, causing matches to run excessively long.
8 )Constant discourse about VAR decisions often overshadowing the match itself, and tarnishing the reputation of the league.
    9) Erosion of trust and reputation, with VAR fuelling completely nonsensical allegations of corruption.

Can't argue with too much of that personally.

Update on my "another one bites the dust" thread. Torquay have new owners a new manager AND have taken Neil Warnock on as a Director.
Torquay was his first management job  before moving on an up.

Fair play to Carlisle. 9th on the list is a great achievement considering where they are geographically and in the table.

I still have a big smile on my face and remember listening to a few middle aged men coming out of the Lincoln City ground after a well earned 0-0 away point.

Giving it “Well that’s top 2 gone, we will be lucky to make top 6……..” and then having to hold my tongue listening to another middle aged man in the row behind me throughout the final game against Carlisle Utd moan and groan with one of his best comments being “Derby your bl00dy rubbish get into these” as our players held their positions and controlled the game into another 2-0 win and victory.
I hope he left 10 minutes early to beat the traffic and moan all the way home before moaning at his wife and kids because Derby had the audacity to get promoted!
If you can’t enjoy the good times what’s the point…..a good away point at Lincoln City perhaps!!!!

What a job the academy staff have done to keep us performing at such high levels, despite being torn apart over the last 3 or 4 seasons.
I know Paul Warne and his management team have done a great job, but I think its being matched by the academy management team.
Clowse must be a very happy boy.

Post from a northeast reporter keen for Sunderland to sign and play Dajaune next season. Shows his assist, goal and penalty.
When other teams have hugely promising youth players in a position they need (and the hardest position of all to fill), don't they actually play those youths? Our only other contracted striker is Washington. If you're a defender, you'd far rather defend against CW than an explosive young striker with pace, power and oodles of skill.
I hope Dajaune is given the opportunity to set the Championship alight with us next season.

Got a feeling that in the not too distant future both Knight and Bird will be plying their trade in the Premier League, obviously not with Brizzle, both are class acts, both gave their all for the Rams, wishing them all the very best for their futures , they are and will be missed here at PP

looking forward to the new season and hopefully end back where the club belongs. If Ipswich can do it then there’s no reason why the Rams can’t.

I don't get all this we mugged WBA, many baggies fans have been bitter about it ever since. I keep reminding them that we deserved our spot in the Premier by finishing 8 points ahead of them in the league, likewise Bolton deserve to go up and have finished 10 points clear of Oxford and I wouldn't begrudge them a lucky win in the final.
QPR was a treble mugging, we finished well ahead of them, we outplayed them in the final and they cheated FFP.

Nobody pushed Portsmouth, us included. They went top in September and never budged an inch. Nobody laid a glove on them, let alone Peterborough of all teams
People made fun of our runners up trophy but I promise you Darren old chum, they don't give out trophies for giving it a jolly good try

archram reacted to RadioactiveWaste in 24/25 Sky TV Coverage
I think my argument about TV subscription is just how many people actually want the service sky offer Vs how many just want the bits they're interested in.
People want their entertainment all la carte and not set menu especially if they're paying for it and these days it's a realistic expectation.
I don't want to watch however many championship, league 1 and league 2 matches, I just want to watch DCFC, and I highly doubt high numbers are subscribing to sky to watch EFL matches anyway. So why do sky pay the EFL for the rights? Stop anyone else having them, steer the ones who do subscribe towards the matches it's profitable for sky to show.

There'll probably have everyone 12.30ko on the opening day except for Friday and Sunday for the games they decide to irritate fans with.
As someone snookered by distance and rarely gets to matches these days,I should be all over this extra coverage but I hate what it's doing to the game overall. I certainly won't be paying sky for it where as I didn't mind giving ramstv the occasional tenner.
Hopefully the ramstv international coverage is still available and I may discover a new enthusiasm for flights abroad.
I think this is probably the last big rights deal with sky that the EFL will be able to pull. The subscription sports TV model is not what it was 20 years ago and it strikes me as sky are trying to kill off club streaming to get everyone watching their very expensive premier League games.
I think in a few years the clubs will rebel against this and do their own streaming - which is what Mel Morris was arguing for, but at the time he didn't have enough support (and picking fights with the league whilst also making all the other clubs hate him, wasn't savvy)

archram reacted to Dimmu in How impressive is PW as a coach?
Bit of a contradiction there Bris. First, you describe a big part of tactics and in the next sentence, you dismiss it.
    To answer the original question:
I'm not sure if talking only about Warne is fair as coaching is strongly a team effort.
I've seen Warneball being called physical, so why did he have a midfield of Hourihane and Bird for about half of the season? Or that Warneball is putting crosses in? What kind of tactics would you choose if you had Collins upfront? Crosses maybe? Or the other way around, did Didzy score countless goals because we put a lot of crosses in? Nope, we played to his strengths. If I'd describe Warneball to an outsider, I'd call it pragmatic, fluid, and mixable while using our strengths and making the most of our opponent's weaknesses. Attention to detail is a strength when we talk about football management.
Just to highlight how fluid our tactics are: I've seen us defending with 5-3-2, 5-4-1, 4-5-1, 4-4-1-1 all in the same game. Well, we all have because it happened often when Bradley was brought on.
I think he has only two aims when setting his tactics. Firstly, how to get the most out of the striker (how much Didzy, Waggy, Collins, and Gayle have scored, I think he's got that right). The second aim is how to help our keeper to keep a clean sheet. (The least goals conceded in EFL is some achievement). If these two are not about tactics, then what is? And tactics need coaching. With confidence and some experience, I claim that is not an easy part of coaching.
So, tactics are a massive part of coaching and they have excelled. Another would be increasing the player's ability and that's tougher to measure. I haven't seen as fit team as the current one is in ages and it's part of improving the player's ability. Yes, it may have caused some injuries, but that's football. Also, they managed to teach Sibley to play as LWB. On the first try, he was horrible at it but played okay as fullback when he had a player in front of him. It's a testament to Sibbo and the coaching team, and during the run-in, his performances as LWB turned out to be one of the developmental highlights.
It'll sure be an interesting summer ahead. Will we build a midfield like Hourihane-Bird or Adams-Smith-Thommo? They don't have much in common, but the question is, will they continue to be the ones who'll be sacrificed when we aim to be at our best in both boxes?
I think Warne has shown to be an excellent manager, who seems to be able to build a bunch of individuals into a cohesive group and I really appreciate that. At the same time, my personal preference would be much sexier, quick short-passing champagne football. Maybe it'll come when we have the players for it.
