Not sure under what circumstances Rush said this but some people forget that in his later seasons, the football under NClough was horrible. Too defensive.

Emil Riis Jakobsen was released from our academy and deemed not good enough. He went back to Randers in Denmark and now finds himself playing in the league above us with Preston. My point being, don't judge a player too harshly too early, they may turn out better than you think.

I get it, but on the other hand, I can understand the club really want to rebuild the larger perception and image of us as we move on from being "the example of everything bad about modern football" (probably overstating it, but it felt like that was how we were seen at times) Whilst not being forgot about as a league 1 club.
It'll settle down naturally in time.

Well the World Cup will be finished by January, so if Derby can afford to pay his wages for the remainder of the season within their current budget restrictions then i don't see why not.

My dad is a fan, he was born in Spondon. My grandad on my mother's side was also a Derby fan. I never really thought about supporting anyone else, certainly not in it for the glory.

I’m not really even in the camp that he deserved more time. Football is a fickle business, and Liam will know that more than most.
I am just disappointed how it ended. The last 12 months has been a siege for the club and the supporters, and Liam made a huge contribution during that time. He provided a lot more to the club in my view than would have been expected of a first team coach/interim manager. Even from the South Coast I felt a tremendous sense of unity about the club during that period, and arguably it was my favourite season for many a year because of the shared togetherness of what we were all going through. In my opinion the decision to move Liam on should have been explained to us on Rams TV by either David Clowes or one of the Executive Team. I think some clarity on why he was let go would have been appreciated by many a supporter, and a heartfelt thanks - rather than a website message - was the least Liam deserved. It would have been a more fitting closure, and probably a better way too for Paul Warne to be introduced to the fans too. My opinion, for what it is worth, is that far too much fanfare has been given to the new man, with Liam pushed through the back door.
Anyway that’s my last post on the subject. Hopefully we get a win today, and results/performances improve consistently over the weeks and months ahead, so the actual decision can be justified.

Answering this separately because its kinda a different point. Will Warne get us promoted eventually? I think there is a decent chance of it if we hold our nerve. There is a fair chance that after an initial bounce the next few months gets a bit rocky due to the transition in managers, transition in styles of play and as a more taxing style of play takes its toll on our squad (particularly the older players). Will Clowes blink if this happens and we are only 10th at Xmas?
The question shouldn't be whether Warne will get us promoted, it should be whether he sets us up for long term sustainable success. We should be thinking now about how we get into the premiership, how do we stay there and how do we do it without needing to recklessly spend. Short term thinking is what got us into league 1 and the current mess financially. We need to be thinking beyond "get out of league 1 at all costs" or it will bite us.
To me the solution to it is something along the lines of focus on the academy, have an established style of play and culture that runs throughout the club and recruit both players and managers that fit that.
From listening to his interviews Warne does seem a very good fit for setting the right culture and a mindset in a club. But can he build towards a style of play throughout the club that we can build upon to a style that will leave us a prem team? And can he and his team coach a steady stream of academy players into being first team players? Those are both the big open questions to me.

If you do your research and choose your manager to put on a contract because you believe he is the right man for the job then 9 games is nowhere near enough, if you have to have an interim manager who don’t feel at all sure is right for the job then nine games is enough especially if the performance s are exactly what you feared they may be,
perhaps clowes like many really doesn’t want the style of football Liam produces with slow slow messing round at the back and keep the ball at all costs , let’s be honest it’s become clear we are just as likely to get caught out and lose a goal messing round at the back as we are getting caught on the break whilst going all out to score ourselves,
just the way I see it on the football I’ve watched play with Liam not only as interim manager but as coach / no 2 as well,
decent bloke but time will tell whether he is a manager , I wish him well

The window clearly didn't end the way we wanted. The talk of Premier League loans and waiting for our first choice targets never came to fruition. But a good window overall. The team are performing better than pretty much anyone expected. There is a lack of depth in various places so fingers crossed on the injury front.
Next goal is to make sure we are in promotion contention in December so that Bird, Knight and our other saleable assets want to stick around for another 6 months.

    I agree with this
It can't always help your development being 16 and getting battered by 18 year olds every week and the same at 18 in the U21s
Yes some will cope but some positions are more physical that others.

Just having and extra two experienced players at U21 allows us to play players in matches when they can best develop be that U21 U18 U16 or whatever. Would i prefer that we're bringing in permanent replacements for the huge outflow, yes obviously, but we'll take what we can get

We should always be looking to strengthen at all levels within the Club. The current first team squad certainly looks as though at the very least we should be competitive but both the U18 and U21 teams are struggling to compete with much better funded opposition and any moves to raise the quality of these squads (even for half a season) should be encouraged.
Getting beaten week in, week out won't do their confidence any good and may have a detrimental effect on individual players who have the potential to go on to good careers. The likes of Cashin, Thompson, Bird, Knight and Sibley all played in teams which were competitive, allowing them to flourish and blossom into first team regulars - can we be sure that progression would have happened if they'd been losing almost every week?

    Good luck to him
Very harsh to write him off completely. The coaches and manager haven't got rid permanently so I assume they still believe he can do something. They see a lot more than we do from the 20 mins or so you might see him as a sub etc.
Players aren't robots, and a lot of things can affect how they play. Run of games, bit of self belief, experience in the adult game (not the u23's) may all help reach a decent level. I imagine seeing Plange doing his thing can put real pressure on a kid in the same position, he's probably so desperate to get some goals and get his career underway that it hinders your game. Hopefully he feels less pressure at Carlisle and finds the net.
