  1. Finally gone through the entire 7 (8 really, as the last one was 21 episodes) season of The Sopranos.

Never seen any before, and I have no earthly clue why not.

It may be the best thing I have ever seen on TV, and I can see why it was the most watched non-network drama in US TV history.

Outstanding acting with brilliant, insightful and at times, hilarious, scriptwriting.

Such depth to it and a real commentary not just on the mafia, but life in general, as they all deal with the same crap we all deal with.

I doubt many of you good folk haven't seen it, but if you haven't, you need to.

CahrlieGeorge/10 with some Colin Todd thrown in.

Ha Ha because it has had real terms cuts, it's a downward spiral. It's still the best channel along with Ch4

    Yeah, it's not even close.

The standard of drama the BBC turns out compared to ITV is insane.

We can always find something great on iPlayer, but we rarely watch ITVX. It's utter pants.

Having said that, after moving back from the US I looked forward to starting to watch QoS and boy, was I disappointed. Drivel. I watched a couple and don't think I made it through either before giving up.

  3. On the way to Florida I decded to rewatch The Godfather trilogy.

My goodness those first two that I'd not seen in 20 years were sooooo good. Almost flawless acting, direction and script.

I watched the 3rd on the way home, in as mentioned above, a horrible mood and feeling sick because I presumed that I'd overreacted with Part 3. So maybe I'm overreacting.

But, jeez, it was an utter trainwreck of biblical proportions.

Sofia Copella would have been laughed off the set of Crossroads, Eli Walch was almost as bad, and Al Pacino was hamming it up too.

Even the ending was laughingly bad.

It's incomprehensible to me that it was Coppola and Puzo involved and that it scored 7.6 in IMDb.

  4. Inside with Willem Defoe - not sure when it came out.

High end art thief gets trapped inside a penthouse apartment without food, water (kinda) or any communication method. Even the TV is on the fritz.

Weird af and I have no clue what the ending meant.

Then again, I was flying home from Florida feeling sick as a dog with the flu that had kept me in bed all week and wanting to die. The film just made me want to die faster.

Just on episode 5 of “Ferry, the series” on Netflix about drugs manufacturing in the Netherlands.

It hasn’t reached the heights of Subara or Gomorrah yet and the Dutch language is a bit harsher on the ear than Italian but I’m enjoying it.

Isn't that a spin off series? That character was in another Dutch series about two cops going undercover that I think originally was based on true events around e smuggling.

First season was ok but the second was terrible.

  6. Oh wow, that is truly awful news.

He was one of the first posters I ever interacted with on this board, and he was always guaranteed to put a smile on my face.

I never met him, but I feel like I did, and his positivity in the face of a lot of life's crap that he faced was always inspiring and remarkable.

He will be sadly missed and my heartfelt condolences to his family and those of you who knew him personally.

I've watched it several years ago.

Yep, tagged the wrong person, I meant @Tamworthram

After getting the ok from @Comrade 86 we watched The Covenant with Jake Gyllenhall on Amazon Prime last night.

Way better than I expected and better than a couple of more recent Guy Richie movies, especially that abomination bank heist movie with Jason Statham playing Jason Statham.

This was really well acted, devoid of the usual hoopla and fist-pumping that accompanies anything remotely military from a US director and very enjoyable.

Not surprised it had 7.5 on IMDB, I'd maybe even give it an 8.

Interesting. I really enjoyed Breaking Bad but not so El Camino. Perhaps my expectations were too high having seen the series.

I thought the movie was dreadful, but it would be interesting to slip into a parallel universe and watch it having not watched BB.

If you enjoyed the movie, you're in for a treat with Breaking Bad @Eddie if you watch it. One of the great TV series of all time.

  9. The Burial with Tommy Lee Jones and Jamie Foxx on Amazon Prime.

Gentle courtroom drama/comedy (in that order) about an old funeral home owner resisting a big chain of funeral homes after they tried to stiff him on buying him out.

Based (heavily, it seems if you wait to watch the end credits) on true events and real characters, it was pretty enjoyable and easy to watch with Foxx his usual excellent self and Jones doing exactly what TLJ does.

No real surprises, but worth taking a look.

One small, but important (IMO) point of order. Shouldn’t you have said Israeli response rather than Jewish response?

    Apart from that, I agree.

    I think that's fair enough.

But sadly, the only Jewish people I know (only 3 tbf) supported at least the initial response.

I  have deliberately not talked about it since because if they still do I'd just get irritated.

I'd be interested in the split between Israeli/Jewish feelings and those of Jewish people elsewhere.
