Apart from the goal keeper and central defence, England have probably the best squad in Europe. Bellingham, Kane, Saka, Foden, Rice, Walker, Trent, Palmer all top class, they could get into any team. If Radford gets back in form, Henderson gets back to playing good level you have got a very good a chance to win it this summer.

    Rice has two already.

Apparently not, and it isn't an isolated incident. It's either something that the manager hasn't been able to eradicate through coaching, or the inability of the players to concentrate and manage games. A bit strange considering one thing we do have in the team is lot's of experience. Perhaps just a case of more inconsistency generally in L1.

My big frustration in these tight last 10 minutes is a chronic inability to actually control the ball rather than it being like a hot potato.  It's fairly simple - if you control it at that stage, they'll probably be fouling to get it back.

Considerably better? I watched four of the six games and I have to say we were competitive against all three sides.

Plymouth away, we were the better side for 55-60 minutes and should have taken our chances to put the game to bed. Barkhuizen couldn’t score with a point blank range header and the game turned. Plymouth caught us in the break and got a very fortunate penalty.

Wednesday away, we were the better side until Davies’ mistake and even with 10 men, we kept Wednesday honest and created some good openings. Bird had a glorious chance to level it.

Wednesday at home, it was a drab game and both teams very much cancelled each other out. Of the few chances, we had the best of them.

Ipswich away, our approach was not pretty yes but it was a reasonable plan to contain and frustrate Ipswich and it would have worked if we hadn’t made such an unforgivable mistake in defence, another one by Davies as I remember.

This idea that they were levels above in quality, I don’t get. Consistency and ability to hold their nerve, yes. But actual quality? It’s closer than people say.

Wednesday were pretty basic. Plymouth-particularly their midfielder Houghton tore us too bits for an hour at home.  Away was closer but we sat back too much.  Ipswich were miles better in both games albeit we had a header ruled out for nowt.  Based on the evidence though, they'd have beat us 8 times out of 10.

Limits what we can do against the 25% of teams we’re battling with for promotion though doesn’t it.

And a fair chunk of budget still made up of Liam signings. More freedom to wheel and deal pay transfer fees etc would enable us to get the young talents from league 1 and below. Blackett-Taylor is the only one we’ve managed so far, Posh’s team is stacked with them, and both Bolton and Pompey are spending cash outbidding us for players.

I'm not talking about the 25 %.  I'm talking about the rest. Warnes brought in about 16 players this season and is still playing the bulk of Roseniors side. Blackett-Taylor shows that how he got to spend that money was under a fairly relaxed restriction.  That's on him.

They'd s*** their pants with joy to be second as well.

That's the whole point. With the wage size and player at the club and the facility that allows to change formation, we shouldn't be luckily chuntering past Cheltenham and Burton and drawing with a side who came for a point and should have been thoroughly punished with some game control when their plan disappeared up it's arse after 58 minutes.  Once maybe on an off day. The way we play against these teams has become a habit of agricultural head tennis and Cashin pumping it down the wing. We still had Nelson trying it today for a while. We played a side today who had conceded about 26 goals and got only 3 points from top 6 sides this season- guess who.  Now they have another.

Anyone driven away from a promotion campaign to try and get out of a god awful league where every team sees you as a cup final and make everything a scrap, to be honest we’re better off without them.

Seen enough decent performances and glimpses of us trying to play but lots of teams try to stop us playing. The Paul Warne style of play thing is a myth down to peoples perception of his time at Rotherham from those who never wanted him here.  Apparently the ball is in the sky more than on the ground at Derby these days with Paul Warne in charge. Not what I’ve seen.

It isn’t Steve McClaren football, nowhere near, but we’re in league 1 still under restrictions, people need to stop comparing us to what we used to be. Yes we want to get back there and is he the man to do it, Jury is definitely out.

In my mind it is bonkers we are having these debates on Warne when we’re second!! Just bonkers.

75% of the teams in this division are under permanent restriction.  If they turned over 50% of what we did they'd s*** their pants with joy.

Thompson has proved he’s good enough this season, but no we could play sibley, smith, fornah in midfield or even move an attacker in field to get CBT or Barkhuizen starting.

Thompson isn't as good as Hourihane, Smith has as much ummph as me and Fornah plays like Bambi on skates.  None are as likely  to score or create a goal.

  8. 2 minutes ago, Eoghan1884 said:

Please god can we rest Hourihane on Tuesday, he loses so much 50/50s and barring set pieces offers next to nothing. Would also start CBT because barkhuizen is a good player but his finishing is absolutely awful.

Are we playing Thompson who lost his footing for their goal and ran around for 10 minutes doing sweet FA instead.

A tough one to take after leading with five minutes to play.

But it’s a good point nonetheless against a team who are unbeaten against us in over 30 years.

Not it wasn't . It was awful defending against a bang average side that could have seriously damaged a chance to get out this league.  Why in gods name did he unsettle that defence with 5 minutes to go and bring on a wide player at full back.  Perhaps he didn't want an awkward after match aperitif with his mate Hursty.  Absolute b******* substitution.

Plenty of  drivel in this interview. And when he does talk about the football, why can’t he just say he loves NmL’s pace without saying how much faster he is than Collins. It’s just so unnecessary

More concerned the clubs league table shows us 4th.  Ain't hard really.

You can stand and wander where you like in the away terrace, no allocated space. It's small and made of thin metal so bounces when fans bounce, it's a great experience 👍

I have to say mate, this pretty much sums up the misery of this league and why we need to get out ASAP. I'm not sold.😂

The lad has some strange split leg stance when he's trying to hold the ball up.  Puts strain on hamstrings and lower back and he winds up on the deck or injured.  That should have been coached out of him by now by strengthening his upper body or teaching him to play out wide and cutting in or off his marker.

  13. Always thought that when a player gets a yellow and it's enough to trigger a ban , it can really create a deficit to you rather than a benefit if the game/s they miss are against a rival who is just ahead or behind you.  I Don't know the answer to that one but if they give a sin bin foul you would get the immediate benefit but would need even more VAR as they'll be hurling themselves around all over the place.  3 hr games will be the norm.

  14. New plans to take the few refs and officials on the line who can see, out of League 1, once they've been identified, to train as fast track VAR decision makers to bring more enjoyment to those who aren't getting the full match experience from their premier league day out.

It's actually going to get worse.  Could they care less of a s*** about any clubs outside the top 6 places. (the rest are interchangeable, whether they think it or not).

Lets get out of this bollox league before this cluster commences.

I did read that at one time Derby had more medieval buildings than York, The Council soon sorted that out. I remember going through the Town centre and there were huge areas that had been demolished especially behind the Cheddar Cheese

They certainly had one of three Georgian squares remaining in the UK. Then built the car park off Chapel Street and a road.

Just heard we offered £200,000 for Lee Gregory, apparently their chairman wanted £260,000 and we said no.

The Wednesday chairman then told Gregory that if he wanted to go he would have to pay him the £60,000.

Now he’s got to pay his wages till the end of the season.

I mentioned when we were in for Smith that it if a player isn't playing, is getting on a bit and has probably a far bit of cash from a few years at a good level, they could help out by foregoing some wage to get the move.  Seems that's what's happened here .

Why are people desperate for a 34-year old Dwight Gayle with 8 goals (from 99 appearances!!!) in the last five years to his name?

I'm happy to just wait for Washington to get back fit or bring Brown back when we can.

If we have to put NML or TB up there and scrap out wins, then fine.

Probably a lot as sub.  Would he get 7 or 8 in this league before the season ends, most likely.  Could that make a huge difference in a top 4 this tight, most likely.  Are his wages for 6 months affordable, don't know.

Carl Froch is growing on me. Still an arrogant knobber pretending that being an arrogant knobber is part of an act. But.... He's quite funny and a decent troll.

I wanted to go to the tour him and Groves were doing last year or the year before. Mostly because I like Groves and their rivalry was good. But the price, if I remember was extortionate. That had Froch written all over it. Did anyone go? Any Froch fans here?

The gag were he pretends he would have beat Calzaghe was always my favourite.

I've been today today that Burnley had a bid of £10m turned down for him and were quoted £21m !!

Swansea have a sell on I believe.  If they get their sell  on, I'd assume we'd get a percentage of that as part of our sell on with them.
