You'd get really good hitmen for that price, they probably wouldn't see it coming.

I'd prefer cheaper incompetent blunderers, who'd make it more painful and a lot less quick, maybe resorting to a corkscrew, Chinese burns or a maybe a penknife to achieve their aims.

I'd spend what I saved on another hitman to dispose of the initial amateurs, before they talked.

Not that I've given this a lot of thought, you understand?

Odd that Gibson isn't sueing Villa, who came roaring past both us and Boro from the bottom half of the table after overspending massively in that particular season, and who also sold their stadium to their owners.

Someone might think it's not really justice he's interested in.

Indeed. seems to have forgotten about them since this in 2019.  One of the primary reasons he got an OBE was for services to sport - pull the other fecker. Can we apply pressure on mass to get him stripped of it, won't be good PR for him either way.

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson is demanding an English Football League investigation into the financial conduct of three Championship teams, including Aston Villa.

They actually quote Mel pointing out Boro 'cheated' to get promoted "The sale of fixed assets is allowed in the rules. In 2016 a club [Boro] got promoted who chose to sell the tax loss from the football club to the parent company, because that then makes it revenue which is a positive towards profit, to help remain within Financial Fair Play."

Previously they say this about Gibson: "Middlesbrough's dispute with Derby has been ongoing for more than two years. Steve Gibson, the Middlesbrough chairman, has been a passionate and outspoken supporter of Financial Fair Play - now known as the Football League's Profit & Sustainability rules - and has previously accused rival clubs of “cheating” in order to try and secure promotion to the Premier League."

I mean seriously, wtf! I thought clubs weren't supposed to take legal action against each other according to EFL regs?

    Teeside Gazette

The problems just keep piling up for Derby County.

After entering administration this week, the Rams were deducted 12 points and plummeted to the bottom of the Championship. Another nine points could yet be deducted for breaching EFL rules. And there could be a further hit if administrators can't pay wages.

And on top of those issues, Boro are pressing on with a legal case to sue Derby for alleged financial breaches.

As I understand it its against the regs for him to do this and was the idea behind the EFL taking it up.  This rooster is going to be to be a millstone round our neck till the EFL do there job and put him back in his box once and for all, or he drops dead.

For anyone thinking about whether it would be possible to form a ‘Phoenix’ club, Bury AFC formed last season, but the season got suspended due to COVID.
This season, After 10 games they are second in the North West Counties League First Division North, which is at level 10 in the football pyramid.

These are the current non-league clubs in Derbyshire, level 10 would be around the level of Heanor and Borrowash Vics.

It would be good fun for a bit, but they wouldn’t see league football in my lifetime.

    Level 5

    Chesterfield National League

    Level 6

    Alfreton Town National League North

    Level 7

Buxton NPL (Northern Premier League) Premier Division

    Matlock Town NPL Premier Division

    Mickleover FC NPL Premier Division

    Level 8

Glossop North End NPL Division One

    Gresley NPL Division One East

Ilkeston Town MFL (Midland Football League) Premier Division

Long Eaton United MFL Premier Division

I thought that a basic tenet of English law is you had to prove loss in order to sue.

I can't see what is claim is for.

This is all to do with the last day shoot in 2019 between us, them and Bristol City .  If we finished 7th or 8th that year neither would give a poo . Nothing to do with fair play for all teams, which can't possibly exist anyway. Somehow it's our fault Boro couldn't beat relegated Rotherham to get into 6th place.  He can't possibly sue because 1- it may have been there own team selection that stopped them winning 2- there was no guarantee they would have got promoted or even get to Wembley 3- The thing he moaned about has been binned off 4- One EFL club can't sue another and he's been told this 4- We're in admin so he'll get bugger all and as the administrator is getting paid, they would have a contesting legal team. 5- He's a **** *** with a Wycombe half and half scarf and a love child called popodoupoulos

I don’t know what I did wrong in a previous life but my football team was decided before I was born.

Growing up in Cornwall, there was no local team. The nearest professional side, Plymouth Argyle, were nearly two hours away. All of my friends supported Manchester United, or Liverpool, or Arsenal. That’s the route I’d have taken too if my dad didn’t have different ideas.

From around the age of six, I was being literally dragged out of bed at 05:30 on a Saturday, put in a car and driven to Derby. One stop at Cullompton Services for McDonald’s breakfast, few hours in Derby, watch the game and run to the car to beat the traffic after the game. Get back home at around 11pm if we were lucky.

I’ve watched some poo football, and had the piss taken out of me endlessly for my choice of team. If people don’t take the piss, then they just treat me with confusion and/or amazement.

Yet I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’d still travel every mile again. And as an adult I still continue to travel to watch them play. I’ve been to some weird places, loved it all.

So whatever happens, nothing for me has changed. I will still love this club, and if the very worst happens and a Phoenix club is born instead, then I guess people will be even more confused as to why I support a football team at the bottom of the football pyramid 350 miles away.

I was at a wedding in Ireland and met a bloke there from Belfast.  He's a PE teacher and basically everyone there supports Man Utd or Liverpool amongst the usual Glasgow affiliations.  He's bonkers on Derby having lived here for 2 years when he was about 11 back in the late 70's  When the kids he teaches ask him which team he supports and he replies Derby, they look at him like he's from outer space apparently.

I think after being deducted 12 points if the EFL continue with another possible 9 point deduction they are making the club unsaleable ? Is that what they really want as a Governing body? Teach Derby a lesson? Sending a club like ours to the wall? If we get new owners and let’s hope we do they can’t punish them for Mel’s actions surely?

It's the debt, not the points . If we lose 25 points this season  the club would sell tomorrow, if the calamity who owned us paid his bloody bills.

Hopefully no-one,wouldn't wish this mess on any other clubs fans either. Even red dogs

I never used to think that way , but the tirade of dog poo that's come our way has changed my mind regarding 2 clubs - Leeds and Bristol City . It would be a real shame for their young supporters but in the end being away from these two might give them a chance at a normal life.

Wages and transfers in. Ave player on £10-£30k  a week, spend £4m a piece on Johnson and Anya transfers et al.  Don't take long to burn.

Take into account money coming into the club. 130 -150 million in external revenue during his tenure and also another 60 million in fees for players / managers.  If he's put in 200 million, he must be papering the walls with it.

Apologies if this has been asked already. Perhaps @Van der MoodHoover can help me with this one.

One thing I don't understand is the purpose of bringing in administrators. If the administrators are just going to come in, make people redundant, sell our assets and pay off the creditors, what's stopping Mel doing that himself without triggering the legal process and being deducted 12 points?

Not an attack on him (though I've got plenty of ammunition). Just genuinely interested.

At one point it could stop interest and also the poor buggers getting laid of will go in a creditors line and be struggling to get anything.  In other words it saves him money.  It may be that creditors will be willing to accept less- sometimes a lot less - to ensure they get something.  Bielik will probably go back to Arsenal on a free to cover the remainder of his fee and be flogged on again for a few million.

Personally think Mel is correct on his covid argumement and the tv rights .This has obviously upset a few big fish in the efl , which has also meant he wasnt liked and watched closely he didnt want to tow the line and they dont want to be told what to do . His biggest plus is why no accountant on the 2nd independant panel , neither radio Derby or any newspapers are reporting this as odd behaviour from the efl . As it does look very much like a stitch up . His downfall is the stadium sale although tech legal it was legally cheating and losing far to much money on players and managers the club could afford . So he has gambled at the clubs livelihoods expense .A gamble that can lead to liquidation whichever way you look at it that puts mel on a par with Maxwell . Sorry to say i liked Mel but on quite a few occasions he has gambled to much or thought he was to clever . You need a safer pair of hands on the tiller even if that makes for mundane transfer windows and football .

Worse, at least he wasn't the cause of liquidation and we had enough on field assets to break two British transfer fees, to allow him to bugger off.

Is it personal investment as all .investment or personal investment as various loans,i don't know, just asking. There are that many other companies it gets confusing.

I don't think anyone knows its so convoluted but a club with a revenue stream like ours should never be in this position, So much of his investment seems to be borrowed over the last 3 years, not personal investment and he basically wants to walk away,  Why he was spending 10 mililon on Bielik and  8 million quid on managers is anyone's guess. I would suggest he started going down this road adding money to the wage bill with promises of budget to Lampard.  When those players went on frees he lost interest and control.  As a minimum he should be clearing the tax liability - once again I'm not sure where this 26 million figure comes from, but if accurate he should clear it and give us a realistic chance to get a buyer.  That one could be the killer.

I was thinking the same. If Mel has bought the stadium for £80m then he will have to pay it. On the other hand how much is he owed, if anything, by DCFC.

    His personal investment in Derby since he took control in 2015 is now ‘more than £200million’, and despite that being money he will NEVER recover, he will continue to bankroll the club until ‘a new custodian for this great club’ is in place;

interview 6 months ago.  He never expects to get it back and he will continue to bankroll our great club apparently.

  14. 4 minutes ago, Ambitious said:

It's plain to see that Mel hasn't been putting his own money in the club for the most part, hence the loans. He bought the stadium for £80m and sees that as money spent. If he gifted the stadium back to the club then he would have a point, but since he owns it... I don't really think he should be putting that money into the equation.

The information that has come out today is damning for the club. Derby look like a club that is beyond the peril. An investor would look at the numbers, the situation and have to figure pretty quickly that it's going to be near-on-impossible to turn a profit for a long time. Multiple sanctions, huge debt and barely any tangible assets due to the way the club has been run.

Sure, someone has the opportunity to buy a fairly reasonable sized football club. However, we genuinely need someone with too much money, with too much time on their hands and someone looking for a vanity project. A chance to save Derby County may not be front page news, but it will get your name in the newspaper and on the radio every now-and-again. It could be worthwhile branding for someone - again, if the money is no issue.

It's hard not to think of the worst. The stories of a big club, a genuinely big club, going bust has been foretold now since I was in school. I just didn't expect it to be us.

Well at least sky sports will take a huge hit when we eventually get shafted - lots of cancellations at that time I suspect in this area

talking of sky sports we have been their bread and butter for the last 8 or 9 years what on earth are they going to do without us?

league one/ third division is really taking on the graveyard of major football clubs ( if we make it there)

Pointed this one out last week.  If Derby and another large club were to drop, the remainder of the clubs in this division would miss us when the TV rights moved to League 1 and that would only be the start of a shift. Barnsley v Peterborough.  Tell you what, you pay us.

Don't worry the Administrator will only be thinking of how he can get most money back for the creditors.

He will sadly give the long term future of DCFC and indeed the fans little consideration.

Can not believe Morris has put the Club into Administration.  So much for having the Club at heart.

If the Club have debts of £60m then I just cannot see where his input of £200m+ has gone??

I can't either. I assume he's including the money! he paid for the stadium in that, even so the club averages 25- 30 million in revenue outside of last season.  That's a lot of money and were talking another 60 million plus in incoming fees as well.

    Who’s next?

    Stoke?

    Bristol City?

    Hull?

    Cardiff?

    Huddersfield?

    Swansea?

Any team who’ve come down and not gone back up or a team like our who have aspirations to get up to the Prem.

We could be involved in our own mini league of docked teams if things carry on.
Then the EFL will look like a complete shambles won’t it?  The bigger teams are suppressed, so the smaller clubs get promoted then they come back down and join the rest of us.

Not them. Squeaky clean. The chairman doesn't offset millions of pounds of debt annually by converting it into shares or anything.  Not sure how many years he can do that for, each one must be worth 10 p by now.  Or Boro moving club debt from one entity to another, all fandabidosi.
