We recorded our new episode last night - it'll be out today or tomorrow (once I've given it an edit...!).
Cheers ?

DesertRam reacted to Oldben in New signings, who will be first...and next?
I think when it comes to Roofe, its time to make a sacrifice.
Rangers can have Knight, but we get Roofe in exchange.
We need goals more than we need a player of knights undoubted talents.
I think i am correct in thinking that the efl rules have stopped us paying for any players, but exchanging players for players isnt covered by that rule.

DesertRam reacted to Joe in Matlock Town Vs DCFC U21 - Clowes Cup - 29/7/22
will just be some under 23s and 18s I think, give this a miss the day before the opening game save some money. Notice Matlock blew promotion last year could not score and think they have only scored 1 goal all pre-season and actually could not even field a team against Alfreton, could be a predictable 0-0

Hello friends,
I hope this thread finds you all well on this warm Sunday afternoon.
As a club, we were strong supporters of the "Save Derby County" campaign as we strongly believe no fan base or community should have to face losing their football team and we were overjoyed when our friends at Clowes UK came to the rescue. Clowes UK sponsor Matlock Town including our away strip so it's fantastic to all be part of the same football family.
To celebrate the continued links, The Proctor Cars Stadium will be hosting Derby County on Friday 29th July with a 7:45pm kick off. It promises to be a fantastic evening of celebrations as the Gladiators will wear our Clowes UK away strip for the first time ever, the Clowes UK Cup will be up for grabs and they will be in attendance and we get to celebrate together the saving and hopefully thriving existence of the club you all love.
Tickets are available now via the following link - https://matlocktownfc.ktckts.com/event/mtl2223hpre3/matlock-town-v-derby-county-u-21s
We are hoping for 2300 sell out which we believe can be made possible by two fantastic fan bases. We were encouraged by Rams fans on Twitter to add a donation ticket option for those who want to help us out but are unable to attend for one reason or another.
As a community based non league team which doesn’t have a wealthy owner we rely solely on our community to fund the club whether through gate receipts, sponsorship or donations. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you to all who took the time to read this post and we hope to see you this coming Friday.

DesertRam got a reaction from RamuelLJackson in Max Bird

I listened to the Rams Review Podcast, which has an interview with Simon Dawkins, who is
now back in the US playing for Monterey Bay, a team in the USL football league. I can recommend
this as a good listen, especially his take on Maclaren and 14/15 team.
Out of interest, I tuned in to watch his team play New York Redbulls 2 - he's still got it, at 34,
and scored a fantastic header, they went on to win 2 nil.

He seems to have a sensible head on his young shoulders. He's played next to Wayne Rooney, he has been managed by Frank Lampard, seen leadership at its very best from Curtis Davies, I think he understands what young players have to do to be successful.
I hope we see him lifting a title winning trophy for us one day, a promotion to the Prem in 3 or 4 years time will do nicely.
Well done Max and well done to Liam for making this young guy feel 10 feet tall and a special part of our club.

Ive been critical of him in the past but last season he really progressed and based off preseason he is going to be a key player for us next season, I really think it will be his best yet.
To think he is still only 21 is incredible, been around the first team for years.

DesertRam reacted to RamuelLJackson in Max Bird
He's the one player from our academy that I couldn't handle leaving, so I'm glad he looks to be sticking around. I want to see him in a Derby shirt at age 27. I think he'll be a revelation

DesertRam reacted to LeedsCityRam in Match Thread: Rams vs Leicester (Pride Park, today 1pm)
Good points Jono. I like what I see from Collins, just concerned his confidence might start to slide the longer he goes without a chance (let alone a goal).
McGoldrick will definitely help create those opportunities but did like the balance of midfield of today albeit Hourihane probably needs to be closer to Collins. Not unreasonably that was difficult to achieve against a Premier League side.
Also agree the tempo of our passing is really the key to us doing well this season. Multiple touches and/or sideways balls and we'll struggle to score all season. As you rightly say, we do have the quality to knock it around at pace. If we're brave enough to do that consistently, I think we'll do well.

No surprise about the result.
I cab see that the team still requires work, and derby are definitely missing that total striker.
We are missing a player who scores goals for fun ie Alfie May or cole Stockton.
Defense still needs work.
We have some old midfielders who just don't have speed in their skill set.

Based off todays game & current signings, again will assume Forsyth stays, in a 4132 -
Wildsmith - Smith Chester Davies Roberts - Bird - NML Hourihane Barkhuizen - Collins McGoldrick
Loach, Forsyth, Cashin, Thompson, Knight, Sibley, Stretton

DesertRam reacted to ramsbottom in Matchday Thread v Hertha Berlin (H) 16th July 16:00
Watched on Rams Player and I think we were good value for the win. A few thoughts -
First & foremost. We have to do whatever we can to keep Max Bird. Coventry can gladly have Sibley, Leeds can take Knight, but we have to hold onto Bird. Him, Hourihane, and Smith/Thompson can boss it for us this season. He’s matured so much the past 18 months. Captain for me once Davis hangs up his boots.
McGoldrick looks like a fitter, faster CKR. I can see why United fans praise him so much.
Hourihane, Chester & Roberts look very astute signings.
Wildsmith is going to take years off my life, playing out from the back.
Cashin & Thompson look like they’re hungry to kick on from last season.
NML showed more flashes of what he’s going to offer.
Overall, everyone put in a good shift, in what was difficult conditions.
Can’t wait for Oxford

DesertRam reacted to Foreveram in Wiil you be disappointed if we finish outside the top 2???
Actually history says we finished in the top three in three of the four seasons spent in the third tier.
-
DesertRam got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Wiil you be disappointed if we finish outside the top 2???
I think we will finish inside the top 6 (not expecting it mind) we will have a couple of draws, a slow start
is to be expected - but come the end of the season the momentum will be with us, whether we
can achieve the ultimate is a dream, but if we are in the top 6 it is possible ?
However, History says we will be there at least a couple of seasons
