I genuinely think that Q see the CK deal as better for creditors and it’s the only bid which makes it the preferred choice but….if in a few days time when the exclusivity expires there are still problems then I expect MA to bud well under the price and get it including the ground but mean -15 points

I was told shortly after we went into admin by a reliable source who had a night out with someone from Q that MA was very much interested in buying us but his valuation will not be anywhere near what was required to please creditors …I don’t think that has changed …if anyone thinks MA is not in background waiting to see if he can get at his value then you’re very much wrong ….after reading the articles tonight I firmly believe CK will get this over the line but…..if he doesn’t MA will step in

MA and -15 points (and no Rooney) would mean league 2 to follow 23/24. No sane businessman would see this as "value"

Always thought Weimann had a 20 goal season in him. Too quick, too hard-working and too good movement to not have one season like this.

Always thought he’d play well playing off Martin as well.

The calls at the time were for Martin and Vydra but they both liked to look for the same space.

Sometimes a tossed coin can land on its edge.

Never convinced by him at Derby, so many chances and so few goals. However having Martin as his partner would inevitably have led to more goals from him than being alongside Vydra.

Huge must win game. Pretty good performance. 3 points and Reading lost, and the day closes with the thread on Page 18. Not only do I hate it when we lose, I hate it that I usually after to wade through 40 to 50 pages of poo because we lost.

The Sun rises the Sun sets. We lose people want to gripe, we win so people go out for a drink - it is the natural order, just like the million times your comment has been made.

  4. Lawrence is reaching heights we have not seen previously. I am sure giving him the captaincy was a Rooney masterstroke.

For players like Thompson, who were never seen before Rooney, claiming improvement is not possible. What is certain is Rooney has, with his decisions on the timing of their introductions, managed the younger players superbly. His leadership and the values he has demonstrated  have enabled a unity of purpose that has led to us having a chance of survival.

So the EU vaccine rollout must have been the same as the UK one then if we were operating under the same rules I assume?

    WRONG

I had my 1st jab before we left the EU at the end of the transition period. Individual member states were free to make their own contracts with vaccine manufacturers or have joint contracts with other EU states. UK rightly went on their own but it had nowt to do with Brexit.

See Institute for Government Dec 2020
the chief executive of the MHRA pointed out, Mr Hancock was wrong to say that the UK could approve the vaccine early because it was no longer subject to EU rules. The MHRA’s decision was taken in accordance with the relevant EU legislation, which allows member states to grant temporary authorisation for a medicinal product in response to the spread of infectious diseases (among others). [1] This legislation still applies to the UK until the end of the transition period. Any EU member state could have used the same provision of the legislation to approve the vaccine. They decided not to for political and technical reasons, not legal ones.

The terrible thing is if we'd had Starmer we'd have been way slower to acquire and then distribute vaccines, and massively stricter on authoritarian lockdowns. You can understand why Boris has survived to date, because however bad he is, all the other options appear worse. And one thing we need at the top is optimism and positivity and the ability not to bow to every media clamour going.

Yes Boris deserves to go, but be careful what you wish for. Of the people vying to step in, it probably comes down to a choice of Sunak, Truss or Patel. Would people rather have one of them? The perceived wisdom is that the voters factor in our PM's behaviour but like him for other reasons. And the visceral hatred of him by the left is funny because he is by far the most left-wing Tory going, which is why he was able to win London twice when it is a Labour city through and through.

Politicians have an inflated idea of their own position in the country. In the Westminster Village they don't see it, but not many people would recognize Starmer, Sunak, Truss or Patel in the street if they walked past them. Everyone would recognize Boris. That is his gift and the political reality, and to his slight credit he has kept things more open than in Scotland and Wales. Derby County wouldn't exist had we locked down again. It will be interesting to see what happens. PMQs tomorrow could be decisive.

Total fiction. You have swallowed hook line and sinker the LIES that being in the EU would have stopped the UK from carrying out its vaccine policy. We carried out the vaccine strategy whilst under EU rules FFS. How sad that you prefer a "personality" as opposed to someone with honesty and integrity, and choose instead a serial liar and adulterer.  Bringing DCFC survival into this discussion is total gonads.

  7. We have had many players in the last couple of years who have made the leap from academy to matchday squad, and many have done great. Sibley vs Blackburn before the Covid shutdown did great. Since then he has had many opportunities to shine but has rarely done so.

Knight, Bird, Buchanan and now Thompson have shown a level of consistency that has proved beyond what Sibley has been able to deliver. I don't buy the excuses about him being played outside of his best position.

Rooney's judgement about the alternatives he has and his consequent selections have been proved  on the money by the results achieved. Sibley faces a big challenge in getting back up the pecking order.

Matchday 23 - Monday 27th December 1971 & Derby finished the year with a visit to Elland Road

    Leeds started the day behind Derby on goal average but Don Revie's side had shown themselves to be particularly strong against the better sides in the division - beating Man Utd at Old Trafford & Man City comfortably at Elland Road in recent weeks. Sadly that knack & Derby's poor away form were to collide with Derby turning in their worst league defeat of the season. Match report below;

Derby's task wasn't made any easier with the continued absence of Colin Todd, still recovering from his broken nose at Anfield. He was replaced by Tony Bailey, who was not only making his first start of the season but unbelievably also his league debut in such a crucial game. He never played another league game for Derby.

An unusually generous programme from West Yorkshire with our team photo dominating their front page

    Derby's heavy defeat saw them slip to 5th place behind Leeds & Sheffield Utd. Elsewhere Man City won 3-1 away at Stoke but Man Utd could only surprisingly draw at home with Coventry, meaning the gap to the Rams was now 6 points. Full league table going into 1972;

    Was there!

Redemption finally achieved in 2006/7 , finally seeing the Rams win at Elland Road

    Lets leave it there lads.

Feel free to go over to the Coronavirus thread if you really want a pointless debate!

Whilst the comments are not entirely on topic your comment about "pointless debate" are inappropriate as a Moderator. You are providing your personal opinion.  Close to 150,000 have died so pointless it is not, even if on the wrong place in this forum

To be honest, I am not concerned about the majority of the “missing 10,000”.

Quite often they are the ones who are showing up and moaning about the fact that the current crop can’t spread 60 yard pinpoint passes and score every time we go forward. Oh, and why aren’t our keepers able to dominate the box and perform better than any keeper we have ever seen?

The atmosphere at the ground is much less poisonous as a result.

    Tripe!

Covid has been the reason for my limited visits to Pride Park, despite having a season ticket. Most of the season ticket holders I have sat with for over 20 years have not been back. They were not moaners or grumblers so keep your bilious judgments to yourself. I'm just hoping they are still alive!

The gulf between the two sides was massive. Don’t get me wrong that was a fantastic point for Derby, but for 90% of the game we couldn’t get out of our own half. And that Fulham team would go down in then PL. The gap between the top two leagues is just too big now.

Huge credit to the lads, worked their socks off. Rooney deserves praise too.

While Curtis, Jags and Shinnie are real grafters and great off the ball, they really do limit us going forward. The reason why we could barely get out of our own half was the slow passing at the back just invited Fulham to box us in.

But with the players we have, it’s to be expected really.

A rather confused post. That Fulham team would be a bit different if they get promoted, with signings. The 90% claim is just cobblers.

Every team needs grafters, why are you complaining we have some? The CD partnership of Davies and Jagielka needs no defence from me, the stats speak for themselves. They are classy defenders. Tonight really is not the time for griping posts like yours.

We would have had a fighting chance…..without the 21 points deduction.

Correction: we would have had a bloody good chance without the 12 points deduction solely down to Morris

Blackburn probably bought about eight hundred to a thousand, so 21k for a team at the bottom of the division with all that's going on (at DCFC and in the world) is a pretty sterling effort. I agree with the OP, that needs recognising rather than ignoring.

Especially when you compare our attendances with Blackburn's and many others, we are doing OK.

Saturday was my first visit since Covid. Formerly there were around me a dozen or more ST holders who I had chatted to for between 10 and 20 years. Only two of us were there! I am hoping all of the others have either moved seats or are just not comfortable turning up at the moment. Missing them was worse than witnessing what happened on the pitch.

You loved him as england manager then, nobody was queuing up to employ him, only us, but thats just my opinion which is different to yours. So we will agree to dissagree

Not a matter of disagreement of opinion, rather of fact. Mac was employed by QPR as a coach and left them to join Derby.
