Exactly. Apologise to all 72 clubs, amend the rules to make them clearer with what amortisation method they wish clubs to use going forward. That's it.
It's ok putting out a 10pm statement saying they have no vendetta, but when they are forcing the club to rewrite its accounts for previous seasons, is it any wonder we feel a little aggrieved by.
What really gets my goat is, Gibson initially kicked off about the stadium sale, meanwhile the Forest owner down the road is moving players/money between his 2 clubs, season after season and no other owner has questioned who sets the valuations?
The fans of that club have the balls to laugh and call us cheats. For what exactly? I bet not one of them can clearly state what it is Derby have done wrong, they will mumble their way through a stadium how much, dodgy accounts line.
They belong down Hooters where all the other tits are on show.
Oh, back to Gibson, the guy who sold the clubs tax losses, how he can even think about even lifting his finger to point at other clubs is beyond me.
Anyway, sorry I quoted you in all this, every so often I just have to write it all down in the hope that someone, just one person looks at this and says, you know what, that's a bit dodgy what they are doing to Derby.

But that was my whole point - sorry if I wasn’t clear. The accounts did reflect EFL rules, because the rules themselves only asked for audit compliant accounts. If the rules had said “straight-line amortisation of player value over the period of the contract/a fixed period” then they could challenge them even if they were audit-compliant.

The fundamental problem is their own rules didn’t say what they wanted them to say, and it was entirely in their power to clarify and change. To interpret them “against statute” and say other forms of amortisation aren’t audit-compliant is untrue and unfair, and to apply this incorrect interpretation retrospectively to gerrymander a points deduction is even worse.

I seriously believe that you have missed the point here, the EFL are victims of a malicious targeted attack from Derby fans that are jeopardising the clubs future by antagonising them.
You can twist it how you like, but how would they know what was in the accounts we submitted, they can't be expected to read them, 72 clubs worth of accounts.
What we did was dirty and underhand, we've been caught out and now must accept the punishment coming our way.

What do the EFL rules say about amortisation?

But is it just a slim chance of survival? If we win on Sunday and Reading lose at QPR we are just 5 points from safety with 19 games to go. If we could keep this squad together it’s game on for me….

Of course they can be challenged. But through proper channels (financial reporting Council and ultimately statute).
What you cannot do is what the EFL have done, which is to seek to override accounting regulations in order to make things "fit" into rules they do have jurisdiction over. Ie the P&S calcs.

I agree. For all grief they’ve been getting, I think Quantuma have been pretty good. I think it took them a while to realise/admit that they weren’t on a level playing field, and that the griping Morris had about the EFL’s treatment of Derby had some merit. But since last Friday they’ve played a blinder. Said just enough about the EFL’s stance being possibly “against statute” to set the cat among the pigeons and it has escalated beautifully. Watching all other parties talk too much mainly because their bruised egos didn’t like being seen as the bad guys was great.

As Napoleon said: “Never interrupt your enemy when they’re making a mistake.”
Hopefully some common sense will prevail in the next few days and weeks.

Rubbish. It's not stopping clubs over-spending. But being docked 12 points is reasonable punishment, I can see that being increased if we 'escape'.

Interesting quote from Kieran Maguire regarding the ownership debacle at Derby.
"You’ve got to give a lot of credit to the Derby fans because they’ve done the smart things.
“They’ve got mobilised, organised, they’ve bombarded MPs so you’ve had the matter being spoken about in the House of Commons and, all of the sudden, the pressure has come on."
If only our MPs gave a toss.

They've all been tweeted and none of them has replied.

I know, it's not conventional or requiring of a response but...

Perhaps the next huge step would be a petition for this to be heard in parliament.

I'm sure if Derby, Blues and the next club got togehter to push this through, we'd get 100,000 signatures.

If too much of a step right now, shall we mobilise to bombard the offices of Birmingham/West Midlands MPs with letters/e-mails?

Apologies if this has already been suggested.

The best thing about this, is even if our academy lads are deemed unlikely to get regular game time with ourselves, we clearly are a club that’s producing careers for young players.
The benefit of a joining a category 1 academy can’t be understated here, if you had a son who was aspiring for a career in professional football, these sort of moves underscore the attraction of joining Derby’s academy over others.
Clear message here, even if you don’t make it with Derby, we are now starting to see our youngsters have good professional careers blossom elsewhere. Noticed young Morgan Whittaker playing for Lincoln at the weekend as a perfect example.

Forest are like the lads loitering at the back of a feisty human rights riot. They aren't there for the cause, just to nick a telly out of the electrical shop when the rioters smash the windows.
Buchanan, Ebosele, Sibley? They won't care, as long as they can claim some form of looting trophy.

Definitely buy stadium and lease under some irrevocable legal deed - in perpetuity to future owners of the club at FOC / peppercorn cost - with the proviso that it undertakes Maintenance  and upgrades under the watchful eye of a supporters trust. If this doesn’t happen as it should then commercial rents would be charged. Supporters trust members on the board
Financial stability, proper wage and transfer structure, the academy, youth youth youth … so important. There’d be an academy v 1st team annual game. I’d build on the Real Union thing
then  gourmet hot dogs, pies burgers, real ale. Ticket prices would be fixed at mid league average with year on year discounts for regulars such that when you get to 40 years / or pension age a ticket wouldn’t cost more than a beer and a bag of crisps.

Then I’d build statues and landmarks. Lots of em ! We’d have a laser illuminated Ram rising above the city on night games. Hector, Cloughie McKay, Igor et al  standing tall there’d be a statement .. this place is special - not a stadium in a box a match day experience. Not pre packaged MacDonalds. …. “Have you been to pride park oh wow, took my breath away”

Anyone wetting the bed if Rooney goes to Everton needs to give their head a wobble. If my employer was in administration with an uncertain future and someone offered me a more lucrative and secure opportunity I'd certainly be taking it, and I suspect almost everyone on this forum would in the same position. Why should I hold Rooney to a higher standard than I hold myself?
