Why are they waiting?

I get that you would try to negotiate the best deal and brinkmanship can help but...

There are so many advantages to one of the bidders getting this done a few weeks ago...

Our chances of staying up are reducing with every player sale, that leaves a a vastly reduced income.

We are losing assets at reduced prices, therefore you are getting less for your money

Now our academy is being torn apart

Out of contract players can now sign pre contracts elsewhere

We can't protect our best young players values by extending contracts

You would have had a better chance of not being beaten to it by another bidder

The club's name being dragged through the mud a little less

Better reception from the supporters

So it begs the question...why? What are they hoping to gain? and is it worth it?

Frustrating isn't it?

I am hoping reports around the administrators weighing up three bids are true and that they make a decision on those tomorrow to name a preferred bidder.

They are not working for the Football Club. The overall competiveness of the team is of secondary importance, to getting the best deal for the Creditors. They have a legal obligation to the Creditors, the Preferred Bidders, and even Mel Morris, to ensure that  due insolvency diligence and process is followed, otherwise they could be sued.

I will always be a bit disappointed if we end up with the Appleby group because they have been around since the beginning but never put their cards on the table.

If it was just Mel's difficulty getting a sale over the line, but seems we aren't doing any better now with the administrators in charge. Frustrating.

The EFL are waiting hoping settlements between dcfc and boro/ww get them out of responsibility.

Boro and ww are waiting because they don't have to do anything.

The administrators are probably trying to get things moving faster but can't due to their obligations to actual creditors and until the binnie biddy, no bidder taking on liability for the boro and ww claims.

So, bidders brinkmanship?

I think the Binnie bid is probably the lowest possible but are thinking agreeing to take on boro and ww might be a trump card.

Appleby is probably hoping for a determiniation on the boto/ww stuff to go in or pull out. Probably won't get backing to take on boro/ww, probably fear Ashley will outbid at the 11th hour.

Ashley is just waiting to see if the creditors will go for restucturing and getting even less

All bidders are bidding on the asumption we're in league 1 - there's no sane scenario where anything else isn't a massive bonus, so why rush anything based on the squad that mostly won't be here anyway with even in the best analysis a slim chance of survival?

Personally I think Ashley is fine with another -15 points to screw over creditors. If it gets to that point it probably means Appleby and binnie have failed.

I can't buy Ashley wanting to do the deal unless it's very bad for creditors and he's not bothered how bad it gets for us to get to that point.

The prblem with brinkmanship, it can and does go wring at times.

It would be frustrating if the Binnie family or Ashley don't clear the debt enough to avoid another minus 15 points deduction next season.

I wasn't referring to the administrators. I was commenting on the bidders.

But is it just a slim chance of survival? If we win on Sunday and Reading lose at QPR we are just 5 points from safety with 19 games to go. If we could keep this squad together it’s game on for me….

My answer is the same. Do remember though that 10 days ago Wayne and Owen were saying that a preferred bidder would be announced the next day. I suspect Binnie and Appleby had made their offers at that point. Not sure where Gadsby & Co. are now, but I guess that Ashley’s bid was awaited, and may actually only have been received after the EFL threw out the Administrators proposals. The last week would have been spent on challenging the EFL’s position, and perhaps working out which bid is best, especially if one of the bids allows for deferred settlements on top of initial lump sum payments. I reckon we will hear of a preferred bidder in the next 48 hours. You heard it here first.

If you're pricing the risk of many millions of pounds to bid on DCFC, i can only see you pricing it based on relegation.

You're right, on the field we actually have a pretty good chance, but on the spreadsheets I doubt they're factoring that in, and if they're not factoring it in, but pushing things towards 1st feb might get you a better deal...we're not dealing with the cuddly doing social good side of business with these bidders, we're dealing with an american investment firm, a specialist in picking up distressed businesses on the cheap and a sports investment consortium with apparently limited funds (the chatter that Appleby's camp wouldn't match the figure Ashley apparently was in for...but without actually putting his bid in)

Is Ashley that 'blinkered'? He overpaid for Newcastle, he also got them back out of the Championship twice, at speed. Don't you think the league placing and appeal of the Club are important to him?

No, I think he's a bast urd. Whatever might happen after, I think he enjoys screwing creditors more.

After the deal, I'd expect probably a push to championship level, then the same as Newcastle, just not spending a lot.

Is that true?

Sorry but that’s appalling, many of the creditors will be local Derby people who probably can’t afford to take the hit but won’t have a choice.

Hey Bobby. Much as I genuinely appreciate your crocodile tears, and great insight on the concept of fair play, you do seem a little lost. Hopefully the useful information below will be helpful. Cheerio.
