I went on their site and most of them think they will sign a load of star players and walk league one. Deluded t****.

Pretty much what Sunderland, Sheff Wed, Ipswich, Leeds, Forest, Southampton and Charlton all thought at one time or another. Good luck with that.

This also resulted in Smith playing some of his best football with us.

Smith and Bradley really stepped up towards the end of the season when we needed them most. Nelson and Cash were great for the majority of the season, but I thought Bradley was a colossus over the last month. Similarly, Smith really came into his own around the same time as well. I love that we really carried no one this year. At different times in the season everyone has contributed something.

    Derby 3 Eusebio's Benfica 0

I remember someone, maybe Graham Richards or Gerald Mortimer, on the radio saying something like he saw Kevin Hector walking down the corridor, injured, in the afternoon and thought there's no way he could play in the game. But he did play, and he was brilliant 🐏

Scoring one of the greatest Derby goals of all time in the process....

I have a fondness for the 4-0 win over Southampton in the PL under TBE. 0-0 with about 15 minutes left and then the floodgates opened. Eranio, Baiano, Wanchope and Carsley netting. The football we played in that spell was simply sublime.

Conceded just 7 goals with him on the pitch. (17 games).

    Great stat.

When the pressure was mounting and the race for the autos was really heating up we conceded 4 goals across the last 11 games, and 2 of those were in the same game against the runaway champions. 2 goals conceded in the remaining 10 games in that spell. Bolton never really stood a chance when our defense was that imperious.

  5. Been nice to play some of the sides who've been stuck down there for years, who we used to play at a higher level. The likes of Oxford, Cambridge, Portsmouth. Just goes to show the strength in depth of our league system when you have the likes of them in the third tier. Also feel that we've definitely added to a decent league during our two-year stint - crowds of 30,000+ in the third division....doubt you see that too often anywhere else.

The situation wasn't nice, given what it was and how we got there, but take all that away and it's been nice to be playing teams who we haven't played before/for a long time and not just the usual faces.

That being said, thank f*** we're out of it. The officiating is even worse than we're used to.

Anyone spot the guy with a white stick on the pitch?

I just caught sight of him (no pun intended!) teetering precariously back into the stands... with a helper, I hasten to add... down what appeared to be a low but slippery(?) ramp.  He returned towards the Northern end of the East stand.
No idea whether he joined in the bounce!  😁👍🐏🤍

Tbf he was probably on his way back to the VAR studio…

  7. Pompey, Derby and Bolton were clearly the best three sides in the division IMO (Peterborough are far too inconsistent), it's a shame that one of us has to go via the playoffs.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Oxford so wouldn't mind seeing them come up, but I think of the four Bolton are most likely, and would be most deserving.

TBH, of the four, anyone but Peterborough for me. Nothing against the fans, but Ferguson trying to play smart at the potential expense of Burton and Cambridge didn't impress me. Poetic justice that they didn't get the SF they wanted (Barnsley) and instead get a more in-form Oxford who recently battered them 5-0.

Good luck against Barnsley mate 🙂

Anyone have another player down for man of the match? Sign him up….

Bradley was closest IMO, but even then Ebou deserved it. When Carlisle were on top in the first half he was the one constantly breaking up their play. Even when we were the better side in the second half he was still doing it. He was absolutely immense and you could see how much it was gee'ing up the other players. Him not being here next season is nigh-on-unthinkable!
