Because he wants to ensure that his principle aims of restoring the club's footing and delivering a sustainable future are both achieved.
    Did that really require explaining?

Bournemouth, Fulham and Brighton spent a ton of money to get promoted. All of which is well documented. Palace were highly competitive in terms of finances too. Palace had a lower revenue than us the season they got promoted but spent 150% of our wage bill to put it into context.
Burnley (first promotion) and Luton were Cinderella stories but then you’re considering two in almost 20 years, so 60 promotions.
Money is no guarantee, of course, but not having it guarantees a ceiling to your success over time. It’s no surprise that Rotherham are in the bottom three, for example, whilst Leicester are top of the league. It might be that Leicester are a better run club or it could be due to their additional £100m in wages - difficult to say.

Being competitive while living within our means is what I have long hoped for, Mr. Clowes delivered that, I can't praise the fellow enough.

Some absolute drivel in this thread, from those so desperate for Warne to fail.
    Utterly pathetic.

That was my first thought too, after reading @cstand's post!  👍

... Pay the Tube (keep the tickets) and get cash back off the coach driver when we got back... still waiting for the replacement bus to arrive... handy pub across the road... (Some royal connection?  King George?  King's Head?  Something along those lines? 🤷‍♂️)
A meticulously choreographed rendition of Oops upside yer head (I said Oops upside yer head)!... I seem to recall a quality but late night, before we finally got back on the road!
Not one to keep up with the proper drinkers on board...

Happy days... and a great group on those Mafaways.  😁🍻🐏

Were you on the Mafaway bus that day ? I was and remember breaking down outside Highgate Cemetery (final resting place of Karl Marx)

A few years ago I was looking at some of my old Derby County tickets.
Apparently I have been to Preston and Fulham but I have no recollection of going to both games. I even wrote the scores on the back of the ticket.
Been to Leyton Orient but the bus broke down on the outskirts of London only saw the second half.

Very well said. The worsted  PM to send the troops to war in my life time so far is Blair, and he will not meet the famlies of the fallen, what a Coward.

I live beside the war memorial to the merchant navy, which is effectively my front garden. We all gather there for 11am on Armistice Day, wearing our poppies. It must be a terrible thing, perhaps below deck at sea, when torpedoed and the freezing water rushing in, in the darkness. Later in the day yesterday, I had to go into the West End and I was struck that hardly anyone in London was wearing a poppy. I think it's important that the poppy, just as other symbols like the flag, are cherished by everyone, precisely so they do not become "owned" in some way by extremists.
I get the white poppy for peace thing, but the money from red poppies goes to the Royal British Legion which supports military veterans. My take is that service personnel are often treated appallingly and need our support. They have lived through terrible things that no one should have to, and then are expected to assimilate back into ordinary society - no wonder many have problems. Also, they are sometimes unscrupulously recruited from poorer communities where the only opportunity of social mobility and escape, is to join the services. We probably all hate the politicians who send other people's children off to fight and die in wars, but wouldn't dream of letting their own kids near any danger. But I would say, don't use that as an excuse not to buy a poppy to support those who did go.
Yes it should never be compelled and there should never be peer pressure to make people feel they must comply, but I'm just giving some reasons why I think it's important.

We have all given Collins stick at some time or another but 5 goals in 2 games shows his character. Some of those 5 have been from close range but could he be the 25 goal striker we all want to see ?

It's not easy to stay switched on for 80+ minutes and then make your first save of the match.
A well deserved win to finish off a fantastic week for the academy lads. 5 of tonights squad played for thr first team in midweek, and 7 from those who featured tonight are still only 1st year scholars.

I remember my Dad asking one of the 71-72 team what he thought of Clough. The answer was that most of the time he hated him. That's a conversation from 1989 so I might not have the exact words but that was the gist of it.

Seen a couple of comments like this, which I understand given how unhappy some people are with Warne, but doesn’t he deserve some credit tonight? He picked the team, I assume they’re playing how he’s asked them to, he’s made the substitutions, yes some of what’s gone before this season hasn’t been great but if people are going to give him stick when it’s bad give him credit for the good too 🤷🏻‍♂️
Backs up some of what Warne has said himself about needing the likes of Sibley and Barkhuizen back to provide more attacking threat. Wilson back from injury and seemingly playing 90 mins, Bradley and Elder better tonight, Fornah and Embleton playing their part as they settle in further.
As you say let’s hope for more of the same on the weekend.
