First time I’d seen him from the start and seemed quite a tidy player. He did fade particularly after he got knobbled by that Ipswich player - if the ref had seen it should have been a yellow card at least, maybe a red

Whichever three (or two) we play in CM he should be one of them for me.

Some comments are bizarre, Warne has only just walked in the door, give him some time, cringeworthy to read the knives being sharpened after 4 league games, we have a serial League One promotion winner at the helm. My expectations for Warne are for next season where we expect to be competing right at the very top of the league (top 2 challengers), he has this season to figure out his moves to get there IMO. He will no doubt have players here he doesn't fancy and players here he needs to mould into his image and players he wants to bring in this Jan and summer. Be great if we could allow him to get on with this brief...
And I have no problem with the football, the intensity is great, Warne has said he wants us to pass it better so he is seeing what we're seeing too. And if it got Rotherham promoted it is good enough for me. Champagne football in League One, we tried it, nobly, with Rosenior and albeit we gave that limited time also, the difference is we now have a manager with a formula that is known to work to get teams out of this league - hopefully, our fans won't hound someone out after 10 games because we're not playing like Barcelona.

Warne's not totally won me over as yet - not his fault really as many of our fans and all local media overhyped his personality so much when he arrived. Like when you're meeting someone new and everyone says you're going to love them. Makes me stubbornly think opposite so they have to be doubly good/nice to win me over.  But he left a cushy number where he was adored and mid- table championship and kept talking about the challenge. The ongoing constraints make it a challenge.

I know it cant be an excuse forever but fans are really forgetting where we were at when the takeover was complete in the summer. For us to be able to sign most of the players we did there had to be a catch as we are discovering now (even if its really young and inexperienced).  Rose-spectacled Liam fans (and I did like him by the way) keep moaning about players being signed for his system forgetting fans have been slating Hourihane and Collins all season before Warne arrived and where was Osula?  Rather than totally slate Warne perhaps give Collins some of the sort of stick Laurence got last season for his silly sending off. So being contrary the moaning at PW is making me like him.

But we have a club, people are moaning as we're not more competitive and about mr clowes' decisions when 5 months ago we were talking about starting in this division with negative points and facing instant relegation again or total oblivion. Just remind yourselves how you felt in the few days when the yank imploded, read the Administration thread again.

We went last night (not far for us sorry) and enjoyed it - great crowd and atmosphere which did League 1 proud compared to sterile plastic premier league. It wasnt pretty by either team. Second in league who pundits are raving about were reduced to winning by a gifted goal. If we had got a point from 0-0 everyone would have been "great point away at Ipswich".

And I have put a bobble hat on my christmas list as think I'll be wanting to wear one by then.

True, I didn't. I still think the trend is that we mostly haven't controlled games.  Granted it may be more frenetic under Warne so far, but I don't think we are any more open to attack than we were.

We certainly had some stinkers under Rosenior. Several of the home games we completely lost control - sometimes we got away with it, like Barnsley, other times we didn't, like Plymouth.

It's a shame Derby had to drop into the Third League but I get a chance to discuss a game event with it.     Back in 1975 we were the best two "football" clubs in the UK and now look at it, quite a fall away.    Teams of our stature shouldn't really be playing out at this level but we at least now got a real chance of making it back to Championship status by end of season.
We've had two losses just recent.   Lincoln somehow managed a win last weekend and survived some 35 attempts on their goal and still won while Cambridge sneaked a victory in some pointless tournament nonsense a few days back.    The latter wasn't a real concern but some of our fanbase took real issue with it.       The referee was in so many words, 'sub standard'
I get to follow action week in week out without live attendance by way of our fan forums and news items like EADT.     McKenna's done real good put often plays players out of position and favors a constant one in attack.   I'd expect the same for this game, it's not pretty, it's not particularly effective but has got us results.     The defense at times seems shaky and Walton has made some crucial errors just recent but still remains one of the very best goalkeepers outside the top two divisions.
If only McKenna played two or three in attack from the start and allowed say Chaplin Jackson and Aluko to get forward more often, we'd feel more confident in getting the goals to beat opponents.    Portman Road has come alive again this season after years of fans staying away.     Seeing 25,000 + for each fixture now particularly on a Saturday is encouraging but we don't always get the result to reward those who attend.
This is the type of game that will test our promotion credentials.    It's been 20 years since ITFC last featured in the EPL and while we still got another league to get past if or when we're promoted in May in order to make it back, the team at last is on the up and fans are having their best season in some years.     It should be a good event.

Our defence is only going to get worse through the season unless we introduce some more pace.

    You forgot Barkhuizen!
Wildsmith 8.5 - saved one penalty, put their lad off enough to miss their second, clean sheet, kicked well & handled well throughout
Chester 7.5 - composed throughout although do worry about lack of pace
Davies 8 - dominant aerially which meant they rarely threatened in our final third
Cashin 7.5 - like Chester, very composed. Unlucky with a scissors kick second half
Mendez-Laing 7.5 - good shift defensively (although tired noticably second half) & some decent quality from wide
Kinght 7 - understated but effective. Game suited him as there were plenty of gaps for him to move into
Smith 6 - solid sub cameo
Dobbin 7 - caused difficulties with his pace & worked hard. Still believe there's a lot more to come from him
Osula 9 MOM - two fantastic finishes & an absolute menace in general
McGoldrick 6.5 - as per, added plenty with his hard work & flair late on
Roberts 6.5 - offered left side threat during his brief cameo
Stearman 6 - solid sub cameo
Bird 7.5 - liking the more mobile Max Bird, dictating play a few yards further up the pitch is helping the team away from home
Sibley 8 - excellent all day. They couldn't cope with his direct running
Barkhuizen 8 - best game for Derby so far. Fantastic shift out wide both going forward & covering back line. Quality was good & scored late on

I think anyone who’s seen Derby play live this season will know that Hourihane gets bypassed in midfield. He is capable of producing special moments but in my book that makes him an ideal sub.
I’m still not convinced the three that played together yesterday is the right combination for every game (Accrington are not the strongest team we’ll face) but it’s certainly one which will play good football.
I think Wayne still has a number of issues to resolve.
Chester, Davies and Cashin as a three leaves us exposed and we didn’t concede yesterday only because of one man’s nightmare performance.
This is why I’m realistic in my expectations for us prior to Christmas. We will be found out in some games as we try different combinations, especially trying to play cup matches in between.
We have most of the pieces. Slotting them into place might take a bit longer.

So, we’ve all discussed the terrible balance of a midfield of Bird and Hourihane. Now Hourihane drops for Sibley, and Sibley plays several really good set piece deliveries which is supposed to be one of the main positives of Hourihane, and we play well in general… just leaves me thinking, is the occasional screamer worth being so disjointed from open play every game?

Needed that. Tough day in Bury on Friday at my auntie’s funeral so this was just the tonic. One of the best away days, easy parking and it’s free, beer in the crown got served really quickly, same in the ground as well. Welcoming home support for most part and fair play to them, weren’t many of them but those behind the goal didn’t stop singing all game. 3 brilliant goals from Derby, even managed to run 20 yards to involve myself in the celebrations for the second goal,  rubbing Sibbo’s hair a highlight ????. That 3 or 4 minutes of madness with two missed penalties then Osula making it 2-0, I’ve never seen in 38 years. Mental!!
As for the game itself good win, looked very clinical on the counter and some of our attacking play was outstanding, we thoroughly deserved the win but there was a lot wrong with that performance and a better team would’ve punished us. With the system and personnel we play, only playing 3 defenders, when we lose the ball we look extremely vulnerable and can get overloaded which happened with both penalties. Knight and Bird were particularly careless as well as others such as Barkhuizen although won’t criticise him as much as he put a real shift in. Bird was a mixed bag again as he also had some moments of real quality.
The other thing I didn’t like, second half appreciate we were sitting deep and playing on the counter but for saying Warne is about intensity, there was a complete lack of intensity from Derby, really slow closing down around their own box and all over the pitch, the only one who showed the required aggression and intensity when he came on was Korey Smith.
Standout performances, Curtis at the back, Mendez Laing when he was on, Barkhuizen did ok, outstanding finishes from Osula he’s a real outlet for us, but man of the match by some distance was Louie, excellent game throughout and at the heart of everything we did. Deserved a goal.

Will take a 3-0 we should take confidence from it but play like that against Ipswich and could be the reverse.

Take a bow, 2 great finishes today from the lad, had the chances to bag himself the hat trick but it’s not a day to pick out the negatives.
What a reception he had walking off in front of the stand, must have felt 10ft tall.
He’s given Warne a huge headache now, one of those huge headaches that managers love to have up top.
Collins, Dobbins, Osula, for a team that had nothing just a few months ago, we have some great forward options for this level.
You would have to say he deserves to keep his place in the team against Ipswich, would be harsh to take him out.

Great result and some lovely personal performances from the lads. Osula, Dobbin, Sibley and Barkhuizen with a special mention for their energy and movement throughout.
Barkz deserved that goal at the end for his constant runs and their keeper did well to keep the score down.
Defensively we still don’t look settled or solid, but we’re doing enough. Has Cashin been instructed to go charging out of the defensive line and leave Davies to mop up if he misses his challenge? It happened a few times and I’m not sure if it’s over confidence in his ability or naivety on his behalf.
Midfield was a nice balance throughout without people stepping on each others toes. Bird, Knight and Sibley work well together, but Smith came on and offered some good physical cover and also was effective on the break too.
