This isn’t law making or law giving. It’s politics pure and simple. Lobbyists, polarised mindsets, unspoken agendas from numerous sources of power and influence. I’d almost feel sorry for the lawyers but they are making a pile of dough from the fall out from every party so maybe not !

FFP is all about stoping an unfair advantage .. ummmm well DFC started in the championship, are still in the championship and the majority of parachute clubs continue their existence in the yo-yo world that is the lower half of the prem along with the odd enforced break down with the rest of us lads in the championship. Except perhaps Middlesbrough who seem to have spent an awful lot of money with limited results.

this is tiresome in the extreme and is killing my love of this game.

I think whatever the EFL want the EFL get.
Is it just a coincidence that every time the EFL appeal they win? Does that mean that every person who sits on the first independent panel of every case is completely incompetent and isnt able to come up with a decision based on the information provided.
Strange as well that the EFL are able to appeal a decision made by an independent panel and if the original decision is overturned (everytime) the club isnt allowed to challenge it.
Cant be just me that thinks we have a legal system in the real world and then football that seems it's own entity with power hungry greedy barstewards who can change rules at the drop of a hat to suit.
One last thing. Why are we being so severely hounded for breaching rules that have seen us gain absolutely nothing over recent years and clubs like Forest and Watford can have owners who own 2 clubs and sell players between them for over inflated fees to circumnavigate FFP.
And dont even get me started on West Ham who can literally field 2 illegal players costing Sheff United their place in the prem, are found guilty and fined 10 million, but dont receive a points deduction. Then get given a stadium at our expense.

If you call Forest, Notts Forest their fans go nuts, miserable gets.
I thought let’s embrace the media’s insistence on attaching Frank Lampard’s to the clubs name for a laugh and it started there.
It’s really not meant to be that serious, I mean we even have sausages in the main board description.
When Cocu was here, we introduced the Oranje theme, it’s all just a little bit of fun when each new era starts.
I get Rooney isn’t massively popular with fans at the minute, but removing it just feels wrong whilst he’s in the job.
The day Rooney leaves I will remove it as I did Lampard and promise to never place a managers name on there again, even if we get Klopp, so none of you will have to be offended by it when you look at the homepage again. Deal?

Meanwhile Aston Villa now they are a Premiership club escape their punishment  So where is the fairness in that. If we are to be held accountable so should they. In addition to that this must be costing  the EFL a hell of a lot of money, I'd love to know how much and who is going to pay for it?

A big beasty leader at CB would be a priority. I was trying to remember what happened to Goode from Northampton who impressed me before and of course he signed for Brentford last year.
If they were to go up, I'd ask the question about him. Doesn't seem to have played a huge amount for them this season and they might look to improve on him for the Prem. Its not clear what they paid for him but he's the type of player I'd like to see.

Wolves overspent too, on their way up. All these teams ended up with a fine.

Should be in the squad for this Summer. I fully expect Southgate to favour someone like Eric Dier though.

Pretty amazing to think that we had Tomori and Mount, both now starring for two of the biggest clubs in the world (Mount arguably a CL finalists best player), and only just scraped into the play offs.

We need a centre back who is a leader and vocal, as good as Clarke is he isnt that. We need a younger version of Davies, just like we need a younger & more mobile version of CKR

Do we have the full transcript of the Percy article? I agree it’s the most concerning. The Alonso deal will either happen or it won’t happen. The Percy article seems to talk about what next and infers that Mel will put us in administration if this deal doesn’t go through - which is something many of us including me thought was never going to happen as we trust Mel to do right by the club (regardless of any criticism of how he’s managed it). I still don’t believe he would, unless he has actually run out of money.
We need to focus on the game tomorrow but after the game we need some answers. If this thing drags on through the summer then we will only start next season on the back foot whichever division we’re in

I agree. Not only that, my perception is that he’s got a lovely-lad temperament about him. I can see him being really polite and respectful to the older generations and being a caring son etc. Bet his parents are mega proud.

just popped into my head that he plays with a smile and an enthusiasm that is endearing. Made me think of Tom Ince and the perception people had/have of him because he’s got a stern look when playing.

Made up for Mount he deserves everything he as got out of his career to me he is just going to get better and better and go on to be one of the best British players of the next 10 years. It was a privilege to see him in a Derby County kit for one season.

Always feel good watching him do well and proud we played a solid part in his development. Rooting for him to achieve as much as possible in his career because of it. He gave his all here after all.

Like others have said, he was good today but brilliant is pushing it a little. Arguably his best work was defensively particularly with the cover he provided to stop Whittaker scoring after 3 minutes. Going forward, one nice touch to set up Kazim first half & couple of decent crosses but that's all I recall from today.
Also very harsh on Kazim to suggest he isnt doing his job. The guy is clearly injured & playing through the pain. Its definitely affected his strength to hold the ball but still some sublime touches & 2 shots on target in another game where we've created little...great block by their defender first half & great save from their keeper second half to deny him.

Agree 100! I remember Old Trafford and Elland Road...he showed his natural ability as a great striker. You don't get to perform like he did at those stadiums without pure instinctive ability. What went wrong behind the scenes I've no idea but I want him back in the summer.

Just gonna say, don't care what anyone says.. I rate Marriott. Just madness to send him away, after scoring our only open goal for quite a stretch in the early season, when we had no strikers as back up. Even if you thought he was tosh, surely its better to kept him around in case he reached some of his past form.
On that one decision of sheer stupidity, going from one striker to 0 fit strikers.. we arguably deserve to go down.

Yeah, fine margins. At times it's because we've lacked quality at vital moments, at times it's because we've set up wrong and only started trying to attack once already behind, giving the opposition chance to just get everyone behind the ball and hit us on the counter.
Waghorn getting sent off against Preston didn't help, although (despite the recent result) I still think Preston were there for the taking, and that they were pretty crap thsemelves in the 2 earlier matches against them.
The unlikely point against Brentford just serves to remind me of how Sibley's been mishandled - the fear of him giving away some free kicks and picking up a few cards vs the threat of him scoring a few goals if played centrally is a difficult balance to get right, but we've totally bloody fudged it IMO and ended up with the worst of both worlds.
That Brentford game showed me what we could do! It gave me a glimpse of what another manager might have seen from the off had he not been someone complicit in our failures up until that point.
We don't need to have been massively, significantly better under Rooney than we have been, it's just a couple of goals here and there and we'd be sitting here feeling a lot more relaxed about the whole thing.
I refuse to believe that 32 goals is the most anyone could have got from us.

Having watched the Rotherham v Coventry game live on sky sports tonight, I'm covinced that Rotherham deserve to go down. Their Thug Football and not being able to string more than 3 passes together does not deserve to be in the 2nd teir of English football. Well to be honest they did put 6 passes together in the 77th minute on just the one occasion. But their pushing of Coventry players off the ball and fouls that the poor Ref did not give to Coventry was terrible. Not a shot on target and a keeper who saved them at least 3 times could have given them a worse goal diff than the Rams. I feel with their remaining fixtures, if they don't win on Sunday against Birmingham they are sunk (regardless of their 2 games in hand).
Can I remind the Rams fans who still feel that Rotherham can escape, the stats dont lie. They have lost 22 games (only Wycombe have lost more) and they have done that in 39 matches compared with most of the rest who have played 41 games. Yes, they have scored 41 goals, thats better than 6 teams above them, but conceding 53 goals is only worse by than 3 teams above them in the table. A small squad with 7 games to play in 21 days is a tall order and with 2 teams to play in the top 6 in their remaing fixiures does'nt bode well. And just to remind you, Rotherham have only won ONCE over the current top 10 teams and in their remaining games, they have 4 fixtures against top 10 teams.

This thread seems more about academy finances rather than any Spanish-based takeover.
As for the takeover, I think Kieran McGuire is always desperate to appear in the know and has embarrassed himself over Derby on several occasions.  A self-appointed "football-finance expert", he seems the only source for a link to Raja Oktohari, probably because McGuire does his research on Twitter and has seen the two together. And hopes for a Barry the Ram style scoop.
I am dubious that the takeover will happen. After having his fingers burnt by the fake Sheikh, Mel has surely demanded solid proof of funds. But why would Alonso want to buy us when Championship Clubs are a guaranteed way of ending up with a small fortune? But only if starting out with a large fortune.
