    You don’t know the facts

I'd like to trust him, but trust has to be earned, you can't demand it. It is earned over time, through experience. That said, he hasn't let me down yet!

Btw, do you know some facts that have helped you remain positive about DC or are you just pointing out that most of us just don't know the reasons behind this? Either way, fair dos.

Derby musicians / bands off the top of my head. White Town had a big hit , Anti Pasti did well , The Struts who were formed in Derby are doing well the lead singer sang with Queen the other week at the Foo Fighters drummer tribute.

Cheers, not heard of the struts. Jyoti from White Town used to hang around with my big brother in the 90s. Quite exciting when he had his 15mins. Still a good track that, but the album was weak.

  3. Wildsmith 7.5 Great saves, some crap kicking and beaten at his near post.

Chester 6.5 Apart from balls up for goal with Curtis, looked tidy, better technique than Stearman. Coped OK RB, will be good at CB I think and hope he can leap like Cashin to make up for lack of height.

Knight 6 Relative to his own talent. He will get more goals from that position in this league. Love his energy.

Roberts 7 Good pace, energy, tidy feet, got forward well. Quite tough and gets stuck in too.

Cashin 7.5 Solid, combative, good reading. Lovely couple of forays forward one good shot and a lovely cross from the left!

Davies 6 only issue were forward passes. Solid otherwise.

McGoldrick 8 Energy, lovely movement and feet. Glides around creating and beating his man. Breathtaking at times. Lovely chip, delicious reverse pass, shame he didn't get a goal. I love him. Thrilled to see a 90 mins of running from him.

Sibley 6.5 Decent shift. Ball gets caught under his feet at times and play broke down but drove us forward at times.

Hourihane 8. I'm one of the few that thought he did well before the goals. Good corners, good passing and one cracking goal and another decisive finish.

Mendez-Laing 7.5 can't believe he's injured, (according to Rosie) looked as powerful as ever. Great shot which was pushed onto bar. A thrilling outlet, they could not deal with him.

Bird ? 5. Really lacking in any kind of power, lost the ball a few times due to a combination of this and slow execution. Rest him. Only use him as back up for Hourihane.

Collins 6.5 Good sub appearance. Nice technique and good decisions apart from that kick forward to their keeper in the final minutes.

Barkhuizen. 6 Not his best day but didn't do much wrong. One peach of a cross but nobody in that area in first half. More to come.

    Forsyth 6.

  4. I recently found out about this Derby born singer and, whilst his music is quite dated and not completely my bag, he possessed a great voice and creative mind and some of his wonkier blues-based psychedelic stuff is really good.

    Some info here:

Fascinating to me, partly because not many musicians to gain any kind of fame or critical acclaim seem to come from Derby. As far as I know any road!

Maybe some of our older fans could help me out here. Does anyone have memories of him ? Did anyone know him personally? Any relatives out there?

  5. Liams latest interview has left me with mixed feelings.  On the reassuring side, he sees that teams work us out and out run us. He hints at some modification but is clearly not going to deviate from the style. However, he never acknowledges that he has made mistakes in selection. Being kind to him, it would perhaps be foolish to signal changes so obviously on the eve if a game. I worry that he is overly reassured by the stats and like everyone else, i worry that the idea of possession based football is something he is far too committed to and creates a fatal blind spot.  Curtis was outspoken about Cocu-ball, let's hope he's speaks honestly about Rosie-ball now rather than after another demoralising  lesson for the club. Intruiging game coming up.

  6. I agreed with Liam that they were better than us and he was right to be concerned even at 2-0 up. However, he then talks vaguely about energy levels. My view is the midfield balance was wrong and I'm a bit disappointed he didn't see this and own it. What I'm starting to wonder is whether playing Bird and Hourihane is wise, particularly when Mcgoldrick plays. It seems that both is a luxury and leaves us far too open and without any steel or enough mobility and power in that area.

When Smith is fit, I think he's our first choice DM or should be. I don't want us trying to accommodate all the best players at the expense of balance. As someone mentioned before, is Hourihane immune to being subbed? If you are bringing Thompson on surely its for him?

Also, lack of pace at the back without Roberts. Whilst the tactic of having forsyth pushed up and winning the long ball often worked, it left us exposed at times down that side.

Great football at times from us, very entertaining but far too open if we're serious about going for promotion.

Just seen that others posted similar views. Sorry for the repetition.

  7. Wildsmith 6.5 Decent save, erratic kicking. He'll grow into the role.

Knight 7 Pretty solid. Tenacious, great stamina, some driving forward.

Stearman 6 Bad deflection for the goal, otherwise did better than I expected.

Cashin  9  Always in the right position, a natural defender. His passing short and long is v.good, won nearly all his headers. Blocks, tackles and intercepts. NEarly always found the perfect solution.

Roberts. 7 I like him. Great vision passing forward at times. Decent cross on him. Solid defender, decent in the air. OK made a couple of horrendous gaffes, but is skillful and strong.

Sibley 7 Looked sharp and dynamic in first half.

    Bird 7.5

Hourihane 7 Some lovely passing, free kicks and corners. Faded again, difficult to sub him off with his quality but sometimes we made need to.

    Mendez-Laing 7 That was a great finish.

Barkheuizen 7 Nice assist, good direct running.

Collins 5  Put a shift in. Didn't link up play much from what I saw or win headers.

Smith 6 Arguably should have come on for Hourihane and not Sibley. Still don't get using him to press high. Tidy enough.

Dobbin. 6 Tried a trick in our half and lost the ball. Unlucky to get penalised for a great tackle back.

Forsyth 5 or no rating as so little time.

Subs could make a big impact today in this heat, if we keep the ball alot like we normally do they could be knackered come the last 20-30 mins. Make the ball do the running

I agree. I'm on the bus and I'm spent already. Might need a s7b myself to complete the walk to the ground. Cannot imagine playing in this.

Seriously, it's a good point tho.

Young band, making their way in the world.

Sure, and most rock/ indie bands will below their standard so it was perhaps a bit of a mean comment.  I wish them well but their sound, lyrical style and delivery seems to directly mimic ARCTIC monkeys and I found that off putting. Sure every band is influenced by others but these tracks sounded like poor imitations. I hope they're having fun and at least they have the balls to try.
