How many more do we need to be competitive?
-
Can a ticket exchange thread be set up for the new season?
I want to put money into the club so will be buying 3 season tickets, 1 adult 2 children.
However I have my kids alternate Saturdays so estimate we’d only get to about 15 games as a three, so would be happy to hand over the tickets to someone for the odd game if they agree to spend some money in the ground.
We are on holiday for the opening day, gutted to be missing that especially if it’s a sell out.

If the takeover completes today is that Mel 100% gone?

Written by the genius composer Keith Mansfield, who also penned the theme tunes for Wimbledon and Grandstand. Just saying...
This would be great for the players to walk out to and fits perfectly as this is still the song played at 2pm on match days on radio Derby, goosebumps every time.
anything but SBW

Is that Mel completely out the door now?

Does anyone know if that is the end of Mel Morris for good? or is he still tied in in any way?

What a shambles. I'm starting to worry that if many more players leave, Rooney will too.
If Rooney went in the next week or so would any of the bidders follow suit?
-
I'll take anyone, and be grateful whoever it is
But assuming none of the bidders will pay enough to avoid point deductions, my order of preference would be
1. Ashley
2. Morgan
3. Appleby

My guess is that he was trying to move his money but the banks were asking difficult questions about his Bitcoin profits. Plus it was taking him too long and there was possibly pressure from other potential buyers like Ashley (not wanting to be a "contingent" was his words?). So Q may have just told him to go away and clear the way for someone else.
I’m now wondering if his wealth was all in crypto, and he hadn’t cashed it in. That market has crashed significantly in the last 6 months and maybe he’s now left with a lot of bitcoins that are worth a lot less at the moment.

Yep you nailed it - for me who’s had a season ticket for a very long time I wouldn’t be buying one if we were still in administration or if we were being dragged down by point deductions, yes I would buy the odd ticket on a game I fancied going to but it wouldn’t be when the weather forecast looks grim either. Then again I know lots of mates who have had season tickets also and between the ten of us there are nearly always a couple of us who can’t get to a game so there are spare tickets to be borrowed.
In terms of ambition on the pitch, it’s important to me because if you are just fulfilling fixtures then it all becomes rather uninterestingI agree with all of this. However I think as fans unfortunately we will have to pay the price of what Mel has done to the club for a little longer. I expect one more season at a non level playing field, that’ll probably be as a mixture of points deductions and squad make up. As hard as it is next season will not be the time to jump ship. I really hope it isn’t the case and the next few weeks are crucial.

This thing seems to have gone on for an eternity, Genuine question, how long have we got before we go pop? End of June when wages need to be paid?
to preempt the predictable, i know, 48hrs, imminent...
We won’t go pop. Local businessmen have said they will step in and fund until a buyer is found. We will start the season, most probably in administration still.

We are at the point where we just need to be saved. Whether that means it’s -400 points, only being allowed to play children or starting every game 5-0 down, we don’t have the luxury to pick and choose what we want. Whomever saves the club, we should be grateful to them IMO for stepping in and pulling us out of the biggest mess that I think any football club has ever been in. Certainly at this level.
Agreed. My point was really that the anti Ashley brigade are really starting to grate on me. He is a third of any viable options we have of being saved.
-
If Appleby takes over, doesn’t buy the stadium outright and doesn’t pay enough to not get the -15….where will the anti Ashley brigade position themselves towards him? I suspect plenty of backtracking will be done

We would be relegated for sure. We'll have an attendence of around 16,000 and no players of championship quality. Last season was all about sticking it to the EFL but next season on -15 points, it will be down to the new owner. No group of players will put in 100% every week when it's the owners fault and the fans will throw the towel in also.
But the "bring Mike Ashley in" brigade don't see it.
15 points deduction next season will mean League Two the following season.
this is on Mel actually, the new owner will just have saved us from liquidation

He will say that because him and Nixon come on here as a source of what to report.
sorry im not quite sure what you mean? rob dorsett says there are local businessmen willing to fund us because he comes on dcfcfans forum? has that been stated on here before he said it ?

I would have thought we need to able to show the EFL that we have finance for the season ahead in order for us to be included in the fixture list for next season. I cant see where this is coming from until the club is sold. In my opinion this has to come to a conclusion, one way or another, before next Wednesday 22nd absolute latest.
Rob Dorestt said there are local businessmen that are willing to fund until taken over. They and the administrators can explain that to the EFL and we will start the season, almost certainly now in administration

If we are still in administration on 30 July, the real clock starts ticking.

It comes back to the same thing, if we want to be competitive next season we need CKs deal to go through, if it doesn’t it’s going to be a struggle definitely next season and things could get worse before they get better.
It’s looking increasingly like it’s CK or MA.
agreed.
CK may be better next season but who knows how his tenure as owner would go
MA may get worse before its gets better, but you know the club's future is in safe hands
I think my preference is MA at this point, whilst i'd love next season to be having a crack at promotion if that fails does CK have a plan for season 2 and 3 or will he pull the plug when he realises he's way out of his depth owning a football club. if he pulls the plug we will be back in this situation pretty quickly

If we had a game tonight how would we line up?
Be interesting to see how that changes over the coming days.
