why do the guys taking corners stick two arms up in the air before hitting the long ones, as if it's some sort of secret squirrel code ? I mean how long would it take for 11 fit and alert young men to learn 'front post' and 'back post' in Cantonese ?
Maybe two arms is front post and one arm back post, but we’re just not very good at the execution

Be paitent, once he gets his first he wont stop scoring, cant knock his hold up play and effort,I for one have been impressed with him.????
I’d say his hold up play has actually been pretty average so far.

Is there anything technical in the fact that a corner is easier to head away from goal than towards it? The angle or starting positions?
The percentage of headers won by defenders from corners must be above 90%
Or is it simply a desire thing?

Worrall at fault for the goal then.
It was only Everton, not Barcelona.

Come on Derby today, go and find that extra cutting edge up top and find that elusive away win. It would be a great platform going into 4 home games.

I would argue most fans in the stadium have a better view than the ref, only the first few rows of the lower tiers probably don't.
@B4ev6is do you sit on the front row by any chance?

Not the first time Rosenior has praised Knight at rb and Justin Walker made similar comments pre-match against Shrewsbury (listen below), it feels like they are settling for Knight being rb for the moment. Perhaps until a loan signing is available? ?
Not what I’d like to see really, however he has done the job so far and we’re under tight restrictions so maybe it’s a “make do” type situation for now.
I do wonder if the Ireland manager, and Knight himself are happy with him playing at right back.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's had a call along the lines of 'get yourself back in midfield or I'm going to struggle to pick you lad'

Wildsmith
Smith Stearman Cashin Forsyth
Bird
Knight Hourihanne
Mendez Laing Collins Dobbin
Theory
Smith for Knight, get him into midfield
Forsyth for Roberts, more attacking threat
Don't need 2 holding mids, trust the defence
McGoldrick and Sibley next in line

Yeah, that is getting on my nerves. Classic aping of certain sections of the media, where an opinion has to formed asap, then everything has to be moulded to fit into this narrative.
Main thing to ignore was the match away at Charlton, where we were really attacking, created loads of good chances and were very unlucky not to win.
I was there, albeit quite drunk, but did we actually create as much as being touted that day?
From hazy memory
Collins one on one, chance created by us, got to score
Collins hits post, defensive error/Collins strength got him in
Mendez back heel, scramble in the box, should connect better
Knight header, created by us, got to score
Have I missed any?

Draw away win at home
You can’t win all your home games
27 wins were needed for automatic promotion last season
17 at home
10 away
Saturday really needs to be the first

There's talking about football in a reasoned, considered manner and there's calling for a manager to be sacked after four leagues games, two of which were won and only one lost - unluckily at that.
Constructive criticism is fine but over the top mardy reactions with the arrogance that we should win every game in this league....nah.
Not sacked, just change the tactics and mentality before it costs us any more points

Yep. I worry that Rosenior is setting himself up to be Cocu-esque. We've some really good players and football at this level isn't that complicated, don't overthink it.
Agreed. We have better players all over the pitch, why don't we get involved in a football match. End to end.

i've seen this a few times since last night
''if we'd have scored early it would have been a different game''
chicken and egg
we don't look like scoring early because we aren't having any shots in the first 35 mins
-
We have the players available to finish in the top 6, even the top 2.
I don't want to get to May and finish 12th.
There will be plenty saying, ''12th?! be thankful you have a club''
I'm sorry but that has been and gone, we will forever be grateful to David Clowes for that side of things.
But that doesn't mean Liam Rosenior, or any manager, should be allowed to take a squad capable of finishing top 6 into mid table.
I really hope it works out, but on current tactics i'm not hopeful and I want to see some improvement to these tactics over the next 10 games.
I was hoping pre season the Interim title would be removed, I'm glad its still in place for now.

My concern is we have dropped a division but despite that are only creating a tiny number of chances each game. But that LR is deluding himself into believing we're creating loads of chances and just not taking them. And, because of this, LR claims he is extremely happy with how we're playing. I said before the season that if we were to think about promotion we had to completely change our mindset as a promotion-winning team must score goals. Instead we've stuck with the ultra defensive setup, with two holding midfielders and no midfield support for the striker. It is same old, same old, where we look a little better because the standard of our opponents is worse.
Only watching the RamsTV highlights for Shrewsbury (so it may be wrong) we had 3 OK chances for our 80% match possession. The first and best fell to Stearman who headed wide but this was from a set piece not creative open play and, unfortunately, central defenders are not renowned as finishers or they'd be strikers. Then I would say Hourihane had a very good opportunity, but took the coward's way out and instead of shooting over hit a pass to Barkhuizen meaning the keeper was pretty much on the winger before he could shoot. Finally a ball to the far post reached substitute Sibley who brought it down and hit an absolutely blistering shot which their keeper somehow saved.
In the post match RamsTV interview LR says it was 99% a good performance but he was cross we went long at the end and this was wrong. And we need to keep playing out from the back (the implication being we shouldn't vary this).
It's frustrating because we seem to have assembled a squad capable of being right up there but we're not using the players properly and our tactics are wrong. Only 4 teams in League One have scored fewer goals than us. Everyone else from 15th place up has scored more than us. This is because we are not creating anything like enough chances, which is all down to poor team selection and tactics.
Spot on

One answer to the problem is to get back to the championship. then it's only really Luton that becomes a scramble. if i were the ticket office i would then gauge the top priority bracket against Luton's allocation. i.e if its 1000 then work out how many games the 1000th person has gone to and set it just above that. I would also add in STHs for priority. It would also be good to know the plan for 23/24 priority before the end of this season, that way you know if your on 14 or 4 games and you want a certain level you can get the extra game in.
I think category's like this could work in the championship.
Away Members 15+ games (scenario 950 members)
Away members 5+ games
Away Members
Season Ticket Holders
General Sale

Agree with most of that, I'm in the same situation but just wondering if I have missed something with the Lincoln game as I've got it down as a possible due to the allocation of around the 2000 mark and the fact it's a Tuesday night game.
I thought it was a 1000 from footballgroundguide but other sources showing 2000 so not sure on that one now

Breaking news. Team with talented individuals fail to break down well disciplined defensive unit.
I believe this is the first time this has ever happened in the history of football.
I've just called Liam and told him what we should have done. He thanked me and apologised for not knowing the simple solution to always beats teams that set up like that.
I'm very unsurprised he said that as I knew it to be the case. I can now claim to have predicted the future.
Why aren't we winning every game? If only I were the manager.
Attack?

There will be plenty of opportunity for fans to get to away games, it's maybe a case of how much do you actually want to get to games, or would you prefer to miss out and moan about the scheme?
I'm in the away members with 0 games (actually 4 games) bracket but I still see plenty of opportunity for tickets. Our aim is to get to at least 5 games and move up the priority order for next season.
I would say the below chances applies to general sale as well as bottom rung away members.
Charlton - got tickets
Mansfield - didn't get tickets
Shrewsbury - didn't get tickets
Fleetwood - didn't get tickets
Morecombe - little chance
Lincoln - no chance
Cambridge - little chance
Accrington - little chance
Mansfield - possibly, novelty factor gone
Ipswich - good chance due to distance
MK Dons - 100% anyone wanting a ticket will get one
Portsmouth - good chance due to distance
Burton - no chance
Bolton - good chance, good allocation and xmas
Port Vale - good chance on allocation
Cheltenham - little chance
Plymouth - good chance due to distance
Wycombe - possibly
Barnsley - good chance on allocation
Oxford - possibly
Peterborough - good chance on allocation
Forest Green - little chance
Bristol Rovers - little chance
Exeter - maybe, distance and night game but no chance if promotion is possible
Sheff Wed - good chance on allocation

Win on Saturday.
That's a big if though isn't it. That's like saying if my business comes good this time next year Rodney we'll be millionaires, with our away record ?
If we score first I think we'll be alright but on what we have seen so far this season we are really lacking in the scoring department.
I think we need another striker of quality +a RB so we can play Knight in midfield as other people have said.
I don't think we are, I think we have more then enough.
The main issue I see is we are not playing enough of the game around the opposition box and wasting too much time playing it round the back.
Last night we wasted the first 35 mins of the game, 80% possession and no efforts on goal, ask Cotteril last night would you rather play a 55min game or 90 min game against Derby, what do you think he'd go for?
-
I asked this last night and got no response, so i'll ask again...
Why are we passing it round the back for over half the game?
We have superior players and we're just ticking the clock down for the opposition turning it into a 30 min football match, then its a lottery
My understanding is playing out from the back is a tactic used to try and beat a press. if 3 or 4 of the opposition press and you play through it you are through and advance on their defence
Last night we played it round the back, beat the shrewsbury one man press then cashin either goes long into their half or it goes into bird or hourihanne. at either point shrewsbury had 10 players all in position in their half
I know its early in the season but I dont see this tactic changing, i can see many away games ending 0-0 or worse. lets be honest, if Shrewsbury were half decent last night going forward we would have been punished

if we know we're poor at corners, which we are, i'd suggest going short every time.
lets say we get 14 corners again, I would hope that half of those would result in a shot from the edge of the box. one may take a deflection through all the bodies and go in.
