EtoileSportiveDeDerby reacted to i-Ram in Missing 10,000 it’s time too turn up
There are a lot of fans who are not turning up who might wish to be ‘busting a gut’ too. However, COVID has not been fair to the old - and we do have I would suggest a quite old fan demographic - nor has it been kind to many in terms of income. I think it’s a bit crass to call out fans who in the past have done their bit, but for now have good reason for not being able to attend.

EtoileSportiveDeDerby reacted to Bris Vegas in The coronabrexit thread. I mean, coronavirus thread
I’ve seen lots of people quote this 2% and brush it off like it’s nothing. It’s so weird. 2% chance is one in 50, that’s ridiculously high in terms of a percentage considering you are likely to get COVID at some point.
I have a friend who bats it off like nothIng. Yet he’s afraid of flying. The chances of you dying in a fatal airplane crash is one in 1000000. Chances of you dying of COVID by the 2% rule is one in 50.
Would you get on an airplane if one in 50 flights suffered a fatal crash? Of course you wouldn’t.
So why do people brush off the chance of dying from COVID like it’s nothing...

Bloody nationalise the lot and offer a decent service at a decent price, shouldn't be too difficult, should it???

I have been abused by David and Boycie on numerous occasions but I can honestly say I'm Derby County and I don't give a fook.

Some of these challenges to @David are a bit ridiculous, in my opinion.
He owns the site, set it up, updates it, does all the technical stuff (except when he calls in @Boycie to switch it on and off again), keeps it online, listens to all the moans, arbitrates in disputes, lets the volunteer moderators cry on his shoulder, puts up with a lot more nonsense than I ever would. He always does this with good humour in a balanced way, in fact, he's probably too kind for his own good.
In the past several years he also tried his best to represent DCFC Fans' interests at various club-instigated networking events - and got nothing but grief for it from a small number of the self-entitled oiks who unfortunately frequent these pages alongside our wider wonderful membership - and most other internet sites, from what I see. I am not surprised he pulled out of this aspect of the role, for his own wellbeing!
I just wonder if some of you expect him to do this completely gratis? As far as I know, DCFC Fans is not a charity or a public company, as such David is a small trader who has to pay his bills, feed himself and live somewhere, jut like the rest of us.
I am always amazed at the number of people who seem to think that the internet just happens out there, for free, without any time and effort being put into it.

P.S. David, come and sit in the West Stand with us - you'll get no grief there, most of us have never heard of the interweb if the amount of fuss kicked up about having to print our own tickets is believed!!

EtoileSportiveDeDerby reacted to GboroRam in 100,000 children in care soon.
My experience, which is a lot less than sage's, is there's a bunch of reasons.
    1. The cyclical nature of care. The number of children who have come to us who's parents also were in the care system, is depressing. How we break that cycle will be tough.
    2. Addiction. Drugs and alcohol are very common in cases of neglect.
    3. Mental health. Often accompanying drug and alcohol abuse, I've seen too many parents not psychologically capable of caring for their children.
Having fostered I think 14 children (need to count them again!), none of them had parents saying they didn't want Parental Responsibility. They perhaps took all the wrong decisions, refusing to engage with social services, the courts and even their own solicitors. One was under protection from family knowing their whereabouts due to previous actions towards the child, so they were completely out of the loop. One was an orphan as both drug addict parents fatally overdosed while child was very young. But the rest had parents who were incapable of seeing they would never be able to care properly for their children, despite what they wanted.

Agree with the sentiment but that ship has sailed for the employees who have already lost their jobs. Simply put, you dont get to where he got to by just being a nice man. Owing money to the ambulance service FFS, I simply could not look at myself in the mirror

EtoileSportiveDeDerby reacted to Rev in Derby finally accept 21 point deduction.
This may be the worst analogy I've seen on this forum so far.
No one takes on a mortgage as a gamble, it's a long term investment of low risk for both the borrower and the lender, and the basis of our home owning society.
Mel's done the opposite, gambled with money he does have, then walked away to let taxpayers, businesses and quite shamefully, in my opinion, two different ambulance services bear the pain, one state owned, one a charity ffs.
