    Don’t get me wrong, people have been slacking in terms of face masks. Some people can’t even wear them properly, while some people flip them on and off when it suits.
    But in crowded areas, science suggests they do work. They will never be 100% effective for the reasons you mention.
    We still mandate masks in supermarkets and indoor places. Cases are really low here that it’s barely spoken about. I believe that is largely due to Mexico being such an outdoor country it’s more difficult to pass on the virus outdoors, whereas indoors we still take precautionary measures such as distancing, masks, hand sanitizers etc.
    You have a point about the silliness of pubs and closed restaurants regarding mask removal. But it’s possible in those situations it’s where it’s more easily spread as the precautions go out the window.
    If masks were never introduced, it’s almost certain cases would be so much higher especially during indoor socializing and at the supermarkets etc.
    And just to add, I hate mask wearing. Wish I didn’t have to. But until this virus becomes as weak as an ordinary cold/flu, I’ll continue to follow science.

    By that logic seatbelts don’t work either as people still die from car accidents.
    And chemo doesn’t work either as people still die from cancer.
    You simply don’t know. But you and Archie continue to argue against popular belief in the science world regardless.
    My biggest query is why? I can understand the lack of trust in the government and their message given how they have acted throughout.
    But forget government. Science tells you masks reduce the chances of spreading COVID. Why you and Archie continue to choose to deny that is bizarre.
    Ive mentioned previously on this thread. We all choose to believe the information presented. But I just don’t understand those who are hell bent on choosing the minority view.

    Heard this sort of conversation around quite a lot recently. It’s sad people aren’t willing to take more responsibility with their health in all situations, but one of the core values and principles behind the NHS- and the way I believe medicine should be practised- is without prejudice or judgement. Whether that’s spending thousands on the treatment of a (likely) cigarette induced lung cancer patient, transplanting a liver into an alcoholic, doing your utmost to save a limb for a patient with diabetes or indeed treating an anti-vaxxed Covid patient on ICU. Healthcare is a right and should never be conditional. My penny’s worth anyway

    Thing is, the morbidly obese are not causing lockdowns and restrictions causing innocent folk to lose their jobs..
    (I think stronger encouragement for those obese to stop harming themselves would be a great thing mind you)

    Nothing to do with fear, mate.
    And we’re both perfectly fit and healthy, touch wood!
    We’ve managed to stay clear of covid thus far, and right now, more so than at any other time, we’d really like to stay that way!
    it’s more out of respect, and putting others’ needs above our own.
    Staff, visitors, and patients at Derby Royal, in the main. But the main reason is that me & Muckrrette are both currently testing on a daily basis, and should either of us test positive, then her 90 year old dad will literally be allowed no other visitor, as we are the only visitors he is allowed. (Hospital rules).
    After fearing the worst less than a week ago, he’s now thankfully on the mend. He’s effectively out of danger. And for that, we heartily thank the hospital staff, and count our blessings. But he’s still going to be in there for a while yet, and he’s relying on us visiting for a measly one hour a day, every day, as his only connection to the outside world. (He’s started smiling again today. We want to see that every day!)
    We see that not as a duty, or a chore, but as an absolute pleasure and an honour, to a wonderful man, and in order to keep it going, we feel we must try everything in our power to ensure we keep covid at bay. For us, that means minimal shopping, cancelled family gatherings over Christmas, cancelled camping trips over New Year, and even at the risk of being called a half fan, (or worse!) cancelled trips to what I currently consider to be non-essential attendance to football matches.
    I’ve recently started taking a travel mug of coffee, and have a season ticket, so rest assured, DCFC won’t be losing a penny, by me not turning up!
    Just don’t forget… Give them a cheer for me… I’m relying on you, buddy!  Big time!

    Which ever the remaining biders become the new owners at least we will still have a club for next season and that, given our present condition, is the most important thing, anything else is a bonus?

    Its my 79th birthday today and I have been a Ram for 66 of those years. The first ten of those years defined me as a person and as a rams fan, I got a job I got married I had two sons I bought my first season ticket and we bought Kevin Hector, A great decade for me. The next ten years were also great from Brian Clough to Dave McKay, and then things changed, in 1976 we lost to Man Utd in the cup semi final we were odds on favourites to win, And for whatever reason that result upset me so much that it made me ill for weeks after. And being a Rams fan was never the same again for me. I still had a season ticket up until Peter Taylors time as manager but the fervour had gone. I never lost the love for the Rams but I did not go very often after that. I still have that same love for the Rams I had 66 years ago and indeed I have had a season ticket for the last 14 seasons, but I am afraid its coming to an end, Covid scares me so I don't go now. But I would just like for a birthday/Christmas present somebody to get us out of this mess. Not bothered what league we are in I will still be a RAM till I die. UTR

    Can't wait to see the back of this year. Will say now I'm ok, but it's been a challenging year, starting out with Derby going into admin.
    Broken foot makes you realise how much you need both your feet
    Next up both sisters and partners testing positive for Covid, little sister has been hit pretty hard.
    Out of isolation period but still having breathing issues.
    Next up Mum has also tested positive, home alone for Christmas, not a lot I can do other than FaceTime. Luckily she's not been hit hard by it, first couple of days were rough but quickly recovered.
    Was due down for the first family Christmas my side for years, that was cancelled with my mum still isolating until next weekend.
    Now the hammer blow, Leanne's sister in law found out this week she has 5 months to live, been having tests for pains, was suspected kidney stones, came back she has kidney cancer which has spread to her lungs.
    Tomorrow is now billed as the "last time Christmas" for her whilst her other brother was sectioned again at the weekend. Believes Adele is in there with him.
    Football has become secondary at the minute, but not lost on me that the clubs future is in serious doubt.
    Roll on 2022

    I feel increasingly uncomfortable with this whole process of administration because it feels like  the usual players are still trying to manipulate events to their advantage.
    We all think Mel Morris has walked away, leaving us in this mess, but I think he is still involved behind the scenes and trying to get the outcome he wants. Whether that is an outcome that is best for Mel Morris or best for Derby County FC remains to be seen. They could be the same thing.
    But, we have administrators appointed by him, two previous owners, the most recent CEO all very active and involved in this ongoing process.
    Kirchner offered something different,  a fresh start without the decades of club politics. Whether he could have delivered on it, I don't know.
    But I know I am weary of the same faces who have not been good for our club in the past, still hovering around the honeypot. I worry that Appleby has been talked about for over two years but has still failed to produce a bid that could have prevented administration in the first place or made an early exit a possibility; that Gadsby is a safe pair of hands who really doesn't have the financial clout or the ambition to rebuild the club; that the administrators are busy being administrators rather than actually working for a better solution.
    Meanwhile we as fans have more uncertainty and no say in proceedings. We have to fight to change that in future or this won't be the last time we find ourselves in this situation.

    I don’t think there is any chance that we’ll go into liquidation… but then I:
    * Never thought we would have broken FFP rules;
    * Never thought we’d go into Administration;
    * Never thought we’d have 21 points taken off us;
    * Never thought Mel was a wrong ‘un having defended him from pillar to post;
    * Never thought we’d need to sell the ground;
    * Always thought the powers that he knew why they were doing and believed what they were telling us…
    So, perhaps I’m not the best judge!
