Can't that be seen as inciting violence?

I posted that tweet because if you give The BBC et al the benefit of the doubt (I don't, they are quick to point out the errors of others with their Trusted News Network and BBC Verify, yet are slow to respond to their own errors and biases - but thats a topic for another thread) the rush for instant news without verification could lead to 'unjustified' escalation.

Secondly, the tweet was from a former Derby MP - so some relevance here has quite tellingly not been removed, as is typically the case when people post things in the heat of the moment.  It is absolutely inciting violence equivalent to the Nazi's in WW2, wanting to wipe an entire country including its people - most of whom no doubt just want to go about their daily lives in peace from the planet.  Shocking and disgusting.

You lasted longer than me. I didn't watch from the beginning. I still don't know the score as no one has mentioned it on this thread and I can't be arsed to look. International football is just so boring 😴😴😴.

    Here ya go...

  3. As with many similar sized clubs that have been relegated to Lg1 I'm expecting 3-4 season, any less is a bonus given that our starting position was far worse than most of the others.

Whether we'll get back into the Prem is another issue.  We threw money at it and failed, if we are now being run sustainably (as I think we should) then we're gonna be relying on god tier scouting and/or a group of academy graduates all coming through at the same time and achieving promotion before they get poached.

Anyway, on to the Sanderson Farms Championship next weekend - I have no doubt you will all tune in....

Unlikely, I don't have a TV Licence.  I had to force myself to go to the pub all weekend to watch the Ryder Cup 👀

Other than the thrill of the live action, you can catch up with the best bits of virtually any sporting event moments after its finished on youtube.  Day 1 of The Sanderson Farms Championships for example!

  5. No, I think we're capable of pushing towards the top 2.

Assuming we're embedded in the top 6 by Christmas, unlike last season we should have a transfer budget available for January and we'll be an attractive proposition for players - big crowds, good wages, gunning for promotion.

A large part of why we missed out on promotion last season was that our small squad tired whereas other teams reinforced.  I'm still quietly confident this will be a good season.

... Just like the rest of us on here.

Write it down somewhere, if need be.

#you sir, are most welcome.  😁

Dammit, I thought I was the only one 😛

I presume I dream . Very rarely remember it though. Maybe once a year?

Same here.  I can't remember the last time I can recall a dream.  I just shut my eyes, open them and its a new day!

My wife tells me I occasionally talk in my sleep so something is going on, but dammed if I can remember one.  I also sleep through thunderstorms and the odd earthquake we've had as well - there's probably a link 🫤

Agree with all said above by @Srg but the team spirit wasn't there either. Cantlay played exceptionally well, was probably their best player, but when the whole vibe from their team is about whether or not he wears his cap or whether he thinks they should be paid something is wrong. He should have been taken to one side, told to put his hat on and keep his views to himself till the event was over.

    😛

I agree entirely...but as of yet the evidence is far from convincing so I remain extremely doubtful of any alien stories.

Yeah, that sounds like something Elon would say, he is certainly an advocate of the simulated universe theory.  But I think the answer to his question 'why wouldn't you'? is pretty straightforward. Because it would be an enormous drain on resources, even if it were possible. Computer games are getting much better no doubt, but what is their resolution really, when compared to the complexity found within even a single human cell for example?

Maybe not now, but at some point in the future when we have the power to run such a complicated simulation it would give some school kids the chance to 'go back in time' and simulate life from the big bang for a history project.  We'll probably just get scraped into the garbage when they're done!

  9. There's a weird reality somewhere in which Rammie is some kind of uber strong mascot doing all manner of stunts before the game kicks off - and this is the game in question...

*I don't even what to know why youtube recommended this to me...

Interesting certainly, although I'm not buying any of the alien disclosures either for the moment. It's not impossible of course, but I think there is a low probability that we've ever encountered aliens at this point.

Oh I'm very much in the camp of incredible claims require incredible evidence, but I do find it all very intriguing.

Whether or not Aliens have/are visiting us is up for debate but I think the theories surrounding the 'visitations' are interesting.  Rather than coming millions of light years to reach us, maybe they live in parallel dimensions - in which case, and to answer one of your points, we'd have no way of detecting their technology before we detected them.  Alternatively, and to get back to the Simulation Theory idea, maybe its just the creators dropping in and out of their creation from time to time to see how we're all doing.

    12 minutes ago, Highgate said:

The computational resources needed to create that would be astronomical, pardon the pun. A simple question has to be asked, why would anyone attempt such a colossal undertaking?  And if we do take the simulation idea seriously then don't we also have to take into account the possibility that there would be far more flawed alpha or beta simulations than the perfect finished article in existence.  Meaning, if we were to be in a simulated universe, we would surely be far more likely to be in a flawed universe riddled with mistakes and bugs...than in a seamless perfect simulation. That is unless we want to give the simulators God like powers.... which I don't think anyone here wants to do! 🙂

Wasn't it Elon Musk (or someone similar) that hypothesised once you get to the point of being able to create a Simulation, why wouldn't you? And once you do, the chances of you being the original species to create the Simulation drop dramatically.  In 30 years of playing computer games I have seen the gameworlds grow dramatically in both terms of scale and detail, who knows where we'll be in another 30 years.  Or 300 years...  Any maybe despite the best programming there are built in error correctors such as deja vous and the mandela effect.

Its fun to look into and chat about, but we'd probably never want to know the actual truth.  Depending upon what we found, it might doom us all.

If this is a simulated universe, then why make it so detailed and so vast? There seems too much redundancy and complexity in this universe for it to be a simulation.  Seems far more likely to me that this universe is the real deal and simulated universes are merely an interesting philosophical idea.

Sailing over the horizon seemed a long way off once.  Assuming we don't ruin it all in the meantime I'm convinced that we'll be a space fairing civilization one day.

If anyone has been following the UFO disclosure stuff over in USA there are a number of theories springing up about our origins and potential place in the galaxy, along with the Simulation Theory its all interesting stuff and food for thought and debate.

The away leg should be a tad keenly contested, I reckon. Already quite excited for that 🤣

    Haha indeed.

I don't mind the crowd being raucous and partisan but when the (American) players and caddies interfere with shots before they have been taken it leaves a bad taste.  Very happy we got the job done 🙂

I think that's the best Ryder Cup performance I can recall. The rankings book has literally gone out the window this week and the Americans, who many called as a shoe-in this weekend, have been well and truly humbled. Rahm and RMac will take the bulk of the plaudits, but there were so many heroic performances across the week. I love this tourney. Sport at its very best IMO.

Its the best team event imho, made more remarkable (by the Europeans at least) due to the fact that its largely a solo sport and you're playing against your teammates most weeks.  The emotion from Rory at the end of his round bought a lump to the throat.
