Arsene Titman reacted to BramcoteRam84 in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
Definitely been through a roller coaster of emotions on this during the week. I was extremely disappointed Liam didn’t get the job, even more disappointed they gave it to a League 1 specialist long ball merchant in what I thought was a knee jerk short sighted move.
After a few days of sleeping on it and doing my research into Paul Warne, I remain gutted for Liam and think we’ve lost a good one who could take us all the way to the premier league and I’m sure he will do really well elsewhere. But I have a warm fuzzy feeling about the potential future under Warne.
He isn’t necessarily the long ball merchant I thought, he seems to be someone who adapts to what he has. He’s driven ambitious and I love the fact he’s already talking to key players about wanting to get to the premier league. He’s likeable and will absolutely give his heart and soul to the cause. I hope for his own self preservation he keeps a bit of distance between himself and the club, but I’m not sure that’s really his way. This will be a tough unforgiving gig compared to his previous jobs but he wants to test himself and if he gets it right, he could be a hero and he’s the sort of character that would want to see it through to conclusion on principle and not flutter his eyelids at the next job.
His record at this level is unrivalled and I really look forward to seeing how he gets on.
As for Clowes, I was hasty to compare this to a Mel appointment. He’s given himself time he’s been considered and Warne is the man he clearly thinks will take us to where we want to be. He deserves our backing. Reading the minutes from the supporters meeting I’m really with what’s happening off the field for the first time in years.
Bring it on!!!! ????????

A manager who has experience in this league and getting out of it with a tiny club with a tiny ground and a tiny budget. Of course they are always going to struggle in the championship.
He's now manager of a Bigger club with bigger Stadium and soon a bigger budget.
Excitement is probably a strong word, for me, It's a good appointment.

According to Alan Nixon, this lad who is a striker at Everton, will be asked to extend his contract and then go out on loan. The Rams and Charlton are the two clubs named as being interested in taking him.

Arsene Titman got a reaction from LeedsCityRam in TOM CANNON
More info:
Tom Cannon joined Everton aged 10 and was 18 when he signed his first professional contract in March 2021. A Republic of Ireland youth international, he made his Everton Under-18 debut aged 16 and scored on his second appearance at that level in April 2019.
The curtailed 2019-20 campaign yielded 16 goals in as many games – 13 starts – including four in a 10-0 demolition of Sunderland.
Cannon was formidable again the following season. He scored at a rate of a goal every other game in 20 Under-18 appearances, while steadily being introduced to Under-23 football by manager David Unsworth. There were 13 appearances from the bench and one start for the older-age team, Cannon netting twice, in addition to an ever-present role in Everton's run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals.
Tom signed his first professional contract with Everton in March 2021, agreeing to a 2-year deal that runs until June 2023. At the end of the season, he was chosen by coaches and staff to receive the Tony Heslop Award, which honours a player who “represents The People’s Club with distinction and passion”, at the 2020-21 Academy Awards.
It was expected that Cannon would perhaps step up to the first team during the 2021-22 season but he played only for the U23s. Neither Rafael Benitez nor Frank Lampard were sufficiently impressed to chance him with a senior run out. He ended the season as top scorer for the U23s with 9 goals.

Ah, so you're suggesting that any player that "doesn't want to play for us" should simply be released? - regardless of the length of their contract ; how much we paid for them; what their possible resale value is? That will make the football transfer market an interesting place....good grief

Any chance we can lock this thread?
Frick all evidence its true, and he'd be a great signing so every time I see an update I check it...and its a crap pun, repetition of the same initial vague link or someone asking the same questions that have been asked before.
Possibly the most annoying thread ever. Absolute rubbish based on nothing and now he's injured, yet B4 seems sure he's coming based on there being no news. Please can we stop the madness!

Whilst I appreciate your own feelings regards the recent turmoil.
Am I the only one who didn’t expect Derby to disappear from the league? The current owner is the reason why it wouldn’t have happened, and I believe there would have been others who would have combined to save us going into oblivion. It was always going to go to the wire, Mike Ashley would have got us if the poo had really hit the fan, we might have been hit with point deductions but we’d still have survived.
But, I can understand that some may not have had the same view and can see how it can effect them.

Arsene Titman reacted to LazloW in Korey Smith - Signed 2 year deal
Apropos of nothing, but does anybody think the (over) analysis of football and footballers is taking a lot of joy out of the game? In particular, when a new signing comes in and armchair experts and statisticians have already decided how good he is, where he will play, how many goals he’ll score, how many ‘key passes’ he’ll make, where on the pitch he will spend most of his time and his overall value to the team. I find it really tiresome. Am I alone in that?
I welcome any signing. Can’t wait to see them play and then I’ll judge them after that (not using stats or heat maps, but using my eyes and nearly 50 years of watching football).

Arsene Titman reacted to ariotofmyown in George Nunn - signed a 2 year deal
Here here, finally someone who thinks like I do. The last thing I want to do is wade through lots of repeated puns, especially when I'm in the mood for stats!
Some of the puns can get really tenuous too. Puns on this thread should be directly linked to nuns. Habit...yes. Superior...fine. Some idiot used stigmata earlier for a weak pun...whilst this is linked to religion, this is clearly not linked directly to nuns.
I was planning to compile a list of pun repetition offenders, as well as though who use puns not directly linked to the subject in question, but I can't find the time. Would you be able to to this please, then we can try and get these incorrect pun merchents banned? Thanks.
Finally then we can both enjoy a forum based on accurate, one time only puns.

Gives away too many free kicks and penalties, due to his poor technique.
He puts his left leg in, then pulls his left leg out, in, out, in, out, shakes it all about.

Arsene Titman reacted to Day in Question for the boss
It feels like there is a suggestion within this question that I and others, suspected this would happen yet kept quiet.
I can hand on heart say that was never the case.
Now I’m fully aware that history will not look kindly on some of my posts, however I personally do not regret a single word I wrote at the time as that is what I truly believed. Let’s also not rewrite history here, you will have seen the memes, not created by myself, Mel Morris was a popular figure not so long ago.
Pumped a lot of money into this club, play off campaigns, took us to the brink of the Premier League. Those raising questions were largely in the minority.
Covid happened, you can argue how severe these impact was, however it wasn’t just financial, lost a close friend, had his own health concerns, throw in the EFL retrospectively looking to change the rules and applying punishment, not sure anyone could have foreseen any of this.
Do I know why he put us into administration? No I do not, but I believe that even in his wildest dreams the long term goal wasn’t to burn a load of cash then ride off into the sunset.
I sold advertising space on the forum to the club, this was handled by the marketing team led by Faye Nixon who was my primary contact at the time.
At no point was there any interference in my views, content on the forum or whatever accusations have been thrown out there by fans believe you would be banned for posting anything anti Mel, not that they were incapable of sticking to the forum guidelines we have in place.
If this comes across as defensive, it’s because it is, as I say it does feel there is a suggestion inside this that we’ve been silenced somehow and not been honest, which does sting a little I have to say.
Now if that suggestion wasn’t intended, I have to say it’s a bit of a daft question.

Arsene Titman reacted to IslandExile in Question for the boss
As it turned out, Mel made a complete and utter b***s up of running the club.
He spent way too much, badly managed the finances and ultimately jeopardized the very existence of the club.
Nevertheless, I do not see why people even now think that was his intention.
He was trying to get Derby into the Premier League against a backdrop of unfair competition - and we all agree with him on that: parachute payments, the EFL, the structure of the TV money, badly thought out FFP rules.
He just made a total hash of it - by going too far, by inconsistent choice of managers, paying over the odds for players etc.
But, as is usually the case in woeful situations, that's because of incompetence not conspiracy.
