Saying things like 'MM lovers' just makes you sound silly I'm afraid.

I think Mel admitted he had played his hand very badly so that potential buyers knew they would get a better deal by playing a waiting game..

He said that he had put £200 million in and didn't expect to be getting anything back.
You sound as though you want blood though. Do you want him to have lost money? Would that somehow appease you?
This isn't necessarily assumed at you but a lot of folks who criticised Mel for chasing the dream, and overspending, would equally complain about owners who didn't financially back their manager's transfer demands.
Who'd be a football club owner? I cannot see how they can win.
    (Cue debate on egos)

I think he did well there.
As much as we can hope for an owner who has billions, it’s not realistic. They all want us at the cheapest price and know that administration is the best way to do that. They’ve forced Mel’s hand and he knows that long term this is the best for the club. Also Mel knows the EFL will never give us a fair run without him gone.
He’s never set out to ruin the club and I’m fairly certain if any of us had the money he had we would have tried to do the same.
The amortisation part was a risk, but the EFL didn’t say a word for years and we were conforming to the financial standards. How someone that is not an accountant gets the final say over an accountant I’ll never know.
As much as everyone can say covid can’t be used as an excuse, it’s had a massive contribution towards it. Our turnover was one of the largest in the championship, probably the biggest of clubs that don’t get parachute payments. We’ve been hit harder than any other club and the timing of Covid came at the end of our big spending.
Interesting what he said about only 2 teams that have been promoted since P&S was brought in have not broken the rules. Shows how broken the system is.
We beat Villa at Wembley and none of this ever happens.

Think we all know your views by now.
Instead if constantly repeating them on here now, do you think it might be an idea to listen to the interview and then see if it confirms your thoughts or throws any new light on matters?
    Just an idea.

Probably plenty but, here’s a novel idea, let’s not pre-judge or speculate. Let’s hear it first then, if appropriate, we can let rip.

On the contrary, I want to hear what he has to say. Then I can make my own mind up about it before it is twisted, misinterpreted,  slanted either way to suit people's agendas before posting on here.

He's a generous bloke, £1.2m for a robotic surgeon to Derby Hospital that helps the city, saved lives and pumped millions into the football club.
People can dissect his running of the club and they will, but honestly having talked to him on many occasions, he's a decent guy that does care.
I would receive calls just to check up how I was doing during my bad days with anxiety. Was hard to read that he was going through his own health issues.
I'll get hammered for this post but I'm gutted for the guy with how this is ending. Always will.
Won't ever feel comfortable reading people laying into him as a man, but accept that others haven't been as lucky I have to have been able to see that side of him.

It’s the first time that Wayne has been consigned to the prospect of no more players coming in. I’m fully expecting a “go with what we’ve got” type interview next week after the deadline.

Waynes took a lot of stick from a coaching perspective since he started, from the media and fans especially. For me he’s starting to prove this season he may have what it takes to cut it. I’ve enjoyed our start to the season, we’re playing decent football again, there’s an actual style of play developing but the squad is threadbare. The lack of options off the bench is stopping us from turning the tide of games back in our favour. Unfortunately he’s being severely let down by the people at the top of the club, with a few more players we would easily achieve survival this season.

No way is Mel sitting talking to the EFL if he genuinely believes they are dead set on issuing a 12 point deduction.
He would be out fighting and pushing our side in the media.
He obviously wants to draw a line under things, get a couple of signings over the line, steady the ship and then sell up.
    So - my view..
In an ideal world he wants 0 point deduction and a small fine or suspended points deduction.
He would take 3 points as a compromise, a disappointment but not a disaster.
6 points is a very bitter pill to swallow but possibly just about bearable if we can get a few more points on the board and ultimately a takeover is the result.
Anything more than that is a definite, no.

It’s clear that the EFL want what they call justice and we call their pound of flesh. I believe the basic problem is that we did not amortise player values in accordance with EFL regulations. We would only do that if we were to gain from it- the gain being that it improved our financial situation- why else would we do it? The consequence of that may well be that the revised accounts , using the EFL’s player amortisation method, push us above allowable losses. The stadium sale was not against EFL rules although it was not playing fair in the eyes of the EFL and many clubs. I don’t care for the EFL but I understand why they are looking for blood. Mel will settle- he doesn’t want to endanger a takeover with a long and expensive legal battle whilst keeping the club afloat , knowing that he may lose in court anyway, whilst in the meantime the club are relegated. Personally, I could live with a 6 points penalty. If it’s 9 or 12 then we are in serious bother.

Let's assume that the financial information demanded within the punishment for the accounting breach has been presented, I am guessing the 'constructive dialogue' that is ongoing centres around culpability.
I think we have to assume at this point that restated accounts are reflecting a breach in P&S allowances and therefore a further punishment is due. We don't know that of course, but the fact this is still rumbling on (and the fact we used a non-standard amortisation policy in the first place - why do that unless it was 'needed'?) points that way.
It seems logical that both sides want to settle the matter so are perhaps ready to set aside the full EFL disciplinary protocols to get things sorted. I would guess the argument will be centring on the fact that, by accepting the 2016 accounts, the EFL removed the necessity of the club altering its course for 2017 and, indeed a few subsequent seasons.
The club will be arguing that the EFL accept some culpability in this matter and that a punishment should reflect that.
For what it's worth (not very much!) I think we'll end up with a 6 point deduction like Sheffield Wednesday did last year. I'm not saying the 'crimes' are anything related, but regulators love to hide behind perceived precedent.

I agree with the above but the issue does go a little deeper than just not flagging our different amortisation policy clearly enough. We were not instructed by the Disciplinary Pannel to just provide clearer notes for our different amortisation policy we were instructed to "redo" the accounts and resubmitt them. In redoing the accounts there is, as we know, a possiblity that the accounts might show that we have breached FFP.

Anyone remember Mike Ingham’s time as RD match commentator? He actually wasn’t that great but went on to become the BBC’s chief football correspondent. Also, Alex Trelinski who wasn’t very good but went to the BBC and then back to local radio.

No one has yet provided any evidence of Rooney saying that we would be out of the embargo tomorrow-in my view, that is because he has said no such thing. I am though optimistic that both the club and the EFL want to put an end to the saga. Unless a takeover is imminent, any post embargo transfers will be loans or free transfers.

They weren’t lucky goals, they were a result of defensive errors. Roos should never have been in goal - he seemed incapable ,at the time, of catching a ball. I agree, team selection for the game was woeful.

We’ve all seen @David’s apology, in my humble opinion do not take it on your shoulders. I have put my own thoughts in that topic but just wanted to show the appreciation for him by dedicating a topic to him.

Top bloke who I believe always acts in the best interest of the forum  keep your chest pushed out and your head held high. With no David there would be no forum and for that alone I am grateful.
This should probably be in another thread but I’m guessing this is the most popular and where it will get the most views.

Thanks for all you have done and continue to do. ??
