On what universe would we not appoint Liam full time manager .

Come on David what you waiting for .

It’s because Liam is already paid more than the budget limit in the business plan. Signing a new deal as manager would entail him taking a pay cut. Probably.

Doesn’t seem to be a problem for Liam anyway seeing as he’s already turned down Blackpool earlier in the summer. I think he’s absolutely delighted to be our manager, interim or otherwise.

  2. Old Trampie demanded Prosecco for this info.  Reckons it wasn’t for him but someone called Beryl??? Anyway…

Reckons there’s three in this week.  One (free agent?) might happen after the deadline as the player is weighing up his options.  Another forward who can play across the line is a priority (from Cov?).  Says this one (Gregory) is unlikely despite the fact the player is keen as he’s dropped down the pecking order.  Final player will be versatile e.g. RB/CB or RB/RW.  Less of a priority with the emergence of Rooney but concerns over CB injuries and Kwaku’s readiness in the short term persist. PL loan the most likely route but competition fierce, more than one candidate.

Agree of course, but we need to win away.  That is the test.  We need to actually go to a different team's ground and win - or at least score.

We are in this league until we can do that.

This is also part of the reason Peterborough are in this league too, They are as shocking as us away from home.

Hopefully they make a slow start and go backwards from there ?

  4. I think there’s an argument that Peterborough are flat track bullies in this league. They regularly get promoted using a combination of astute forward line recruitment and using this to exploit the weaker defences in this league.

When the play in the Championship the overall standard of their team let’s them down and the stronger defences can nullify their forward line.

What does that mean for Saturday? I’d suggest that we are one of the tougher challenges for anyone in the division and are only in League 1 on technicalities rather than footballing ineptitude.  So I’d be surprised if Peterborough score more than one on Saturday. Similarly I’d be surprised if we score more than one - someone is going to get a tanking from us but I don’t think it will be Saturday. My best guess is Sibley starts and it’s still a 0-0 draw.

Addison wasn't positionally as good but had the strength of a bull.  Would have been a good player for Derby, until Clough decided to make a point of highlighting his lack of squad by playing him for 98 minutes in an away win at Newcastle. Been moaning for days about a competitive squad and how Addison would have to play despite just coming back to training.  He hadn't kicked a ball for 3 months due to a stress fracture in his foot.  Poor lad was hobbling on the hour and still no sub. Was MOTM against the side that pissed the division.  Straight back to a massive layoff as the stress fracture had opened up but a lot worse. Clough did some good work at Derby with transfers and wages but that sticks in my mind above the rest I'm afraid.

Also nearly killed Barnes. I liked NLN a lot but some of his actions suggested, shall we say intolerance?

  6. I’m not sure I’d describe Oxford’s performance as a footballing one. They seem obsessed with kicking our team as much as possible, typified by their number 8 who I subsequently discovered was among the top scoring midfielders in the division last season. Deplorable performance from him. The last ten, they did try and play football and looked half decent otherwise for the other eighty minutes? Agricultural is the word that springs to mind.

And Hourihane , to my eyes looked much much fitter on Saturday. Along with Bird he’s integral to us controlling midfield. Bird is good on the ball, Hourihane is sublime. He plays every game possible for me.

  7. After a two year absence, I’ve consulted the oracle who is ‘Old Trample’ on this. I had to to buy him 4 cans of K cider and a Babycham but…. he’s adamant it’s Waghorn. Rosenior reckons he’ll bag 15-20 goals in League 1 and is confident Hourihane can create the 30-40 one on ones he’ll need to achieve it.

Trampie also reckons Rosey also asked about Paterson. But that was only for schitz n giggles because Leroy’s on this forum and wanted to wind @bimmermanup ?
