i could totally see it happening but i dont think hes ever been a good player

hes a small player that isnt strong, isnt quick and doesnt have a nailed down position & hes got over 350 senior appreances, that should be a worry

This post is a bit contradictory, isn’t it? 350 senior appearances should be a worry? How?

He’s 29, never played below the Championship and had 3 seasons as a fairly regular PL player, albeit for a poor PL side.

For a side coming up from League One, he would be an excellent signing. Experienced at this level without being too old, versatile to cover at least 2 positions that we need to strengthen. If he’s willing to come, it’s a no-brainer for me.

Branthwaite would be STARTING for me, never mind not even in the squad. Baffling.

Me too. With what’s been chosen it looks like it’s going to be Stones and Guehi, but the defence looks incredibly weak.

If Shaw can be fully fit, big if, then we might be OK at full back. We then have to hope that the likes of Rice, Wharton, Mainoo can provide enough of a shield to protect our weak point.

Isn't that the case of every transfer rumour account on Twitter?  This is why i hate the post-season.  Roll on the Euro's simply so we have a distraction.

Most seem to be some kind of agent or transfer exclusive account. I think that account is just someone who generally doesn’t like us.

Has it been posted anywhere else other than by that account? The bloke (probably kid) is just a wind up account, I remember seeing him regularly spouting off about how the best team in the league were going to beat us to autos. He then had the meltdown of all meltdowns after they lost the play-off final.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s just made that one up because he’s bored in his bedroom.

Makes it easier for you to get tickets if it's on a Tuesday.

That’s true, a day out in Plymouth to watch Derby would be lovely though. Better than walking through Central Park in the bitter cold then surrounded by Plymouth fans who insisted the dive was a “nailed on pen”

Really messes with me that there are women players in this same list. Some of the names I have zero clue if they're men or not.

It was only when I got to Miedema that I realised that, she’s the only one I’ve heard of. I even thought Sabrina was a unique name for a bloke.

It’s the first time I’ve seen a club mix the players for no apparent reason. Most even do separate lists for senior & youth players.

  7. Pay as you play suggestions are made quite often for injury prone players, how often does that actually happen? I mean outside of non-league football?

Any player, injury prone or not, can pick up an injury like an ACL. You don’t have to be injury prone like George Thorne to suffer a double leg break and be out for a year plus, that kind of deal just won’t happen.

I wouldn’t want us to re-sign TJJ on any kind of deal. At one stage we were left with no strikers and if it wasn’t for Dwight Gayle’s short run of games I don’t think we’d have gone up. Regardless of budget TJJ will take up a place in the squad, and it could have a big impact on our season if his injury leaves us short of options again.

He’s a good player but I see him at a middle of the table League 1 side who could afford to give him a chance to prove he can stay fit.

Out of interest, we didn't need a back three last season why do we need one this? Just shift Bradley on, he was the reason for the three.

I never said we need one, but it’s how we finished the season and it seems to be how Warne prefers to set up. We came away from that when Bradley was suspended and had no other centre backs, but as soon as he was back it was a return to that shape. I’d be surprised if that changes over the summer.

  9. Both Souttar and Lonwijk would be really solid signings for where we want to be this year.

If Bradley goes to Charlton, Souttar to fit into his place in the middle of the 3, we’d have Lonwijk, Nyambe & Forsyth who could also play there which would allow Rooney to go off on loan. After his injury, I think it’s important he gets some regular game time which he probably wouldn’t get next season.

A starting LWB to replace Sibley with Elder/Forsyth as back-up, plus possibly Iversen in goal, and the defensive side of the team would be sorted, and a quality one even for Championship standards.

The biggest thing for me is he will go for free with no compensation due.

Just another legacy of Mel’s regime unfortunately.

If anything, Mel’s negative impact on the club would have prolonged Sibley’s stay, surely? He can’t say it’s improved his career like Cashin would’ve, but if we were top half Championship for the last 3 years would Sibley still be here? He’s managed to get more football in the league below playing LB, a Derby County that wasn’t pulled apart on and off the pitch probably would’ve let him go a year or two ago.

Went to James Acaster last night.

I was expecting more crowd work with a show called 'Hecklers Welcome' but there was none until right at the end when a guy blind drunk asked him to sing his Kettering song.

There were lots of very clever callbacks and some sharp writing, but I was less than blown away. Not even close to Ranganathan or Tom Allen for me, but pretty enjoyable and glad I went.

    7.5/10

I was there too. I've liked James Acaster for a long time, inadvertently watched him back in 2011 when he was warm-up for Milton Jones.

I was worried he might be a little too virtue signalling but I thought he was brilliant. He's an extremely clever comedian who links different parts of his show very well, the well-known Netflix special is genius.

Makes a lot of sense to me:

Option 1) spend a fee now and have less money to spend on other players

Option 2) loan him for a year and get him on a free the following season.

No doubt the loan costs will be a lot less than any potential permanent fee, and you'd think a contract would get pre-agreed for him to sign the following summer, so no chance of him heading off to another club instead.

It's not as flashy but it sounds like good business to me!

I guess it would make some sense to Leicester in that they’re guaranteed some kind of fee rather than lose him for nothing next year, but that kind of deal sounds like something that would happen later in the window.

There were apparently a host of clubs who met Johansson’s release clause, you’d think that Iversen may be a logical choice if those clubs are still after a keeper.

If it makes more financial sense, then sure, but Warne has said we will be looking at PL loans. If Iversen comes in on loan, permanent next summer, we can have 4 more at most. We might not even fill those slots, but I would’ve thought spending a little more on Iversen as a permanent now and keeping the loan slot may make more sense in terms of building the depth we’ll need for the season.

A lot of teams do these things now all through the leagues, especially at premier league level. Not always for end of contract, but quite often loan with buy at the end. Presumably it must help with PSR somehow.

I’m not 100% sure on how the rules work alongside restrictions, whether we’d have the same limits with or without restrictions, but only able to spend a certain amount of it etc?

Surely kicking the can down the road in terms of fees will just go towards our total in the next 3 year period when we could spend more if we chose to.

Man Utd have taken one of our PL records this season - most shots faced. The record was 629, Man Utd faced 660. I really don’t know how they finished where they did in the table.

To be fair, they did have Onana in goal so perhaps players just thought they’d have a go and stand a decent chance.

When you’ve got to beat Stephen Bywater/Lewis Price/Roy Carroll, it’s a much harder task and you’re probably better off passing.

As others have said Daniel Iverson is a target, believe it’s similar to CBT deal of a loan to a free

I wonder why we’d do that now? It made sense with CBT because of the allocated transfer pot vs loan pot with the restrictions. But if we are going to, for example, pay £300k to loan DI then sign him for free next year, why not pay £300k to buy him now?

We have 5 available loan slots in a match day squad, it wouldn’t make sense just to use one up in that way.

    Issue with Steve Holland apparently.

Sounds like Henderson has been left out in breaking news reports.

I think it’ll be Southgate’s last tournament whether we go out in the groups or win the whole thing.

I do wonder if he’s more likely to “go for it” as a final shot of winning something. We could’ve won one of the last 3 tournaments if we weren’t quite so conservative.
