    Rooney on the fans

Rooney: "The fans have been excellent to the players and myself."

    13:55 STEVE NICHOLSON

    Build up

Asked if he does anything different with the players before a big game like this, Rooney joked: "I went to Thorpe Park (with the family) yesterday, and went on a few rollercoasters."

Is he preparing for a rollercoaster of a season.

Yes, but what exactly was Peter's role? Was he actually any good? Was he calm and collected on the touch line, or was he like cat on a hot tin roof? I guess we'll never know if it was down to him or God.

Well apart from they were both poor on their own ??‍♂️

Taylor scouted the incoming  players, I think

Would appear to have been filed at companies house, BUT 2019 have not yet been filed as the 2020 accounts are not now listed as overdue whereas 2019 still are overdue.

I would expect 2020 accounts for public viewing to be available mid next week based on current lead times at companies house.

The only reason I can think of is that 2019 is probably irrelevant to a takeover deal going through whereas 2020 filed accounts will be needed to satisfy the EFL as to recent trading position and questions about the club being a going concern and also an insight into P&S given that wages were down and overheads reduced during the 2020 period, essential for any new ownership group and the EFL to understand.

This also would explain the 6 day extension and constructive dialogue statement.

I am really please that you understand all this .sounds good re takeover in any case. I cannot see that this is really about whether we get deducted three points. Ok we dodged the bullet last year but with more than forty games to go surely we can overcome a three point deduction this year.

Would love him to play for Derby, same as Ravel Morrison, he has a point to prove. The only the issue for me is , if he came in where would he play?

Our Centre Mid department is stacked! I know you can always improve but, Bird and Shinnie have started the season brilliantly (I am a massive Bird critic) Bielik and Knight waiting to come back, I am just unsure where he would fit and obviously if he could stay fit

Amazingly we only look short of players if we get Injuries. A small injury free squad has its advantages.

And in the case of outcome 2, even if this materialises, if they cannot deduct points for an FFP breach, they will make sure it takes them until after the transfer window has shut to confirm this. They will probably do their best to delay it to the closure of the second transfer window to disadvantage us as much as possible in lieu of not being able to deduct points.

I believe the EFL executive decides this and my understanding is that now comprises of Rick Parry, Trevor Birch, some independent non-exec directors, Nicholas Randall (Forest), Peter Ridsdale (Preston), Neil Bousor (Middlesbrough), along with some Lower league representation including Jez Moxey (Burton).

It is absolutely clear what the championship appointed club representatives will be advocating and why I will be amazed if we sign anyone else before the deadline.

    I will also be amazed.

There would have been some decent options for the bench

For me the biggest problem we had on Saturday was that to refresh the side / rejuvenate the play we only had youngsters to bring on - who definitely have some promise but aren't (for me) game changers right now - If we'd had Waghorn or maybe Marriott on the bench I think they might have made more impact

Basically, we have a better squad now than last year. We are playing better football but after the Forest game, our fixtures look difficult for a while.

It'd be an interesting turn if "England's greatest ever goalscorer" ended up having a managerial career as being an expert at saving clubs who are in a right mess - but we are a mess as a club, and so far this season, he's doing best to save us.

It is working. Which of the players that moved on in the last two years could have got in our team on Saturday.
