Looks like there will be some movement on this. Expect to see Davies and Mengi being announced soon then.

Maybe the club have discussed the 'nuclear option' of sacking the Chorley team with the EFL and the EFL don't want to be responsible for ending those young players' careers?

Jóźwiak could be a different player this season with fans behind him and a year of getting to know the league (assuming he isn't sold...)

I think that having Bielik back will make a huge difference also, he'll soon be back in training in and around the first team squad and hopefully playing by xmas if he matches his last recovery pattern. On that note, he seems to be implying that he is able to progress better this time, without the full lockdown restrictions from last year.

    You couldn't make it up, for all the youngster here are his qualifications;

Ridsdale's sports consultancy firm WH Sports Group Limited, which provided advice to football clubs from 2003, failed in 2009 with debts of more than £475,000. Ridsale was found to have diverted payments by football clubs totalling £347,000, due to the company, into his personal bank account. In October 2012, he was disqualified as a company director until April 2020 after an inquiry by the Insolvency Service. His wife Sophie Ridsdale was likewise banned from acting as a director of any company until 2016.[22]

That's only half the story, take a look at Wiki, he's been less than successful at Leeds, Barnsley, Cardiff and Plymouth, leaving all clubs under a cloud.

It’s not just the wages, the clubs other overheads need to be paid, Tax, Maintenance, rates, loans etc.

But, it's only the players' wages which need to be paid, to avoid the 3 points' penalties.

Can he afford too? Or we will be paying the team late racking up -3 point s every month in the process

You got to believe that MM won't let paying the team slip behind. The punishment would be too high, the debt incurred would be taken off the value of the club, the points deductions would also reduce the value of the club. For a person allegedly worth £500M, £1M per month shouldn't be that difficult to finance.

On a side note Nixon is asking the question on how MM can afford the £2M per month players wages. Looking at our current squad of players, where does he get £2M per month from?

Don’t get the crowd argument, surely all teams will benefit won’t they ?

Not really, you only have to look at the league table any season, to see that some teams are better home than other teams in a similar position and some are worse.

Quite often you'll see a midtable team's supporters moan that their home form is bottom six and their away form is top 6.

  7. I must admit that I am surprised by this decision, but I can remember 2 other captain appointments which were met with similar enthusiasm at international level, Beckham and Rooney. Whilst not winning anything, they didn't seem to have a detrimental affect on either the England team or the players' performances.

Not sure about you but I could not just magic up £1.4m overnight.

Also, if the club were led to believe the transaction was still going ahead I don't think they would have desperately trying to get the funds in place.

MM's assets are measured in millions and mine in thousands, I'm sure that I could raised £1,400 much quicker than the club did, to pay the players.

I have sympathies regarding the club being strung along regarding the buyout, but the facts were that players weren't being paid and rules were being broken, at a time when the club was already under investigation.

The Weds' punishment is disproportionate though and should be questioned.

  9. I think that we would have had some kind of defence of the players had been paid a couple of days late, as soon as we realised that the deal hadn't gone through. Unfortunately, it was done 2 or 3 weeks later.

  10. I think that there is a lot of negativity over Davies' potential contribution on here, if he stays.

He actually made 13 appearances last season, including one in the league cup. He suffered that bad injury, which I thought would finish his career at his age but definitely would put him out until next season. It says something about his physical and mental strengths, that he managed to return to help out in that crucial final game.

Now let's look at what he can offer the team for next season, he's too slow, but wasn't Darren Moore even slower? Moore showed that experience can carry you a long in that position in this league, during our promotion year. I think that Davies and Mengi could prove to be a decent partnership in the centre of defence.

Strange that , it's happened in Middlesbrough too !! ........Global warming ?

And in Wycombe also..........................and they're not even on the coast, so it can't be rising sea levels.

I bet we'd still do better than last season.

We would, if we had B4 in the centre of midfield organising things.

Oh don't get me wrong, over the season i agree that we were lucky to stay up on such a low points total.

But to say we couldn't do the job ourselves I still disagree with, we did do the job by drawing when we knew the Rotherham result.

Who's to say we wouldn't have won in the last 10-15 mins had we known Rotherham had won? For a start we wouldn't have put Davies on for Waghorn would we! Mind with this manager maybe we would have...

Continuing on this theme, how can it be fair to dock points after the season has finished? A 2 point penalty given before the last game would have meant us still going for a win in those last 10 minutes rather than sitting on the draw. Wednesday had all season to make up their 6 point penalty.

I think that Derby would appeal any decision resulting in a points penalty for last season and knowing the speed of the appeals process, this wouldn't be decided upon until after christmas.

I like the idea in principle, but the maths aren’t working for me. If 40,000 chipped in £2.50 that would probably work, although not probably over the next few months as there are a lot of birthdays in my family during July and August.

How about the 20,000 season ticket holders all turn up at the same time, at the EFL hq, with a fiver each, to pay the fine?

  16. 46 minutes ago, Tamworthram said:

Loathed as I am to defend the EFL but isn’t this now sitting with the independent disciplinary commission?

I think it's actually called the League Arbitration Panel, but, yes, it is independent of the EFL and God knows why it's taking so long.

Surely, when punishment, if any is given out, the continued suffering to the club, by this drawn out process needs to be taken into consideration, just as a convicted criminal's time spent in prison on remand is knocked off his sentence.

  17. I expect virtually all restrictions to be lifted by 19th of July. The only ones not to be lifted may be high risk ie: night clubs or standing at a bar, inside. Outdoor spectator events should be restriction free, except maybe for mask wearing inside the ground.

They're increasing the numbers going to Wembley for the remaining Euro matches, Wimbledon for the tennis, the British GP at Silverstone and the test matches. Data will be collected from all of these events, in time for the start of the football season.

  18. I think Jozwiak's best period last season, was when Bielik was playing.

This could be for a number of reasons:

A, he felt more settled with a fellow Pole in the team.

B, he benefited from having a better player giving him quicker and better passes.

C, he benefited from playing in a team playing with more confidence at the time.

Like many players, past and present, he seems to be a 'confidence' player. Hopefully, he can get and maintain that confidence next season.
