    Thanks Coconut. I agree with this too. I am not standing up for the EFL. I just wanted it made clear, not necessarily to you, that the EFL do not set and implement rules without the consensus agreement of the member clubs.

    Fair enough but Jim has asked for feedback on 'improving and membership'. That was the pitch and that's what I'm drilling down on as I think any potential subscriber needs to know that this bright, new mission statement is more than fine words. They will have my support as an organisation, but as other posters have pointed out, the reasons given for choosing not to engage before now ae not strictly true. I'll cite Ramzone and leave it there. I think it's also fair to ask how our involvement is actually going to effect change. There has to be a plan, but thus far thee seem only veiled criticisms of us for our 'lack of support' and less than helpful interaction.
    I think it's entirely pertinent. BAWT has only been in existence for a month and a half. Big followings or not, RT have had over a decade to generate a significant subscription base et have failed to do so. Surely identifying why will allow them to address the issue better than not doing so.
    Not entirely sure how I'm starting a competition. I'm pointing out the disparity in approach and engagement models. There are lessons to be learned which is surely the whole point of this thread. Jim stated that Twitter and FB have been the preferred models for however long the Trust has been in existence, but whatever platform an entity selects, you need to drive traffic. Mohammed and the mountain springs to mind. Jim seems to feel that many fans are hostile to the Trust. I'd venture many of us were wholly unaware of RT until recently. It's fair and helpful to look at the reasons behind that. I see no evidence that the Trust even accepts this fact, let alone has any real intent to address past mistakes.
    I agree fully. In so much, it would be helpful to know that RT's 'official place at the table' will be exploited in a meaningful manner.
    Herein lies the pinch Angie. How will our involvement effect change other than swelling RT coffers and making subscriber numbers look a tad more respectable? Surely there's some sort of strategy and if not, why not?
    Me neither, but when a business is failing, where does the buck stop? And do shareholders need to know the board members to evaluate their performance? One can argue that the Trust is not a business, fair enough, but I'd argue it needs to be run like one. Frankly, this thread has only served to harden my view of the the Trust's efforts to date.
    I'll not post further on this thread in any case. I've much to say but little faith it would be seen as anything other than unhelpful, but I'll subscribe irrespective.

    Driving bans are a matter of criminal law. It makes sense that a failed appeal could see the sanctions increased because in appealing you're taking up both time and money of the courts. They have a duty to look after the interests of the public as a whole.
    The example of a multinational company where a prior punishment can be seen  as too lenient and increased after an appeal makes sense because you're re-evaluating the sanction handed out. While it may often fall the way of an increased punishment there's scope for them to say they were happy that the original sanction was correct and to not add anything extra.
    The EFL disputes are not covered by the law of the land nor is the proposal that any sanctions would be fairly reassessed, rather they have put in place measures only to add additional, arbitrary punishments for a failed appeal.
    Without the backing of criminal law it doesn't really make any sense to do this. Without scope to simply uphold the original decision it doesn't make sense either. Its simply the EFL having their cake and eating it.
    Now, not content with that they want to put up further barriers that look to heavily discourage anyone from appealing in the first place!
    That isn't a fair and just appeals system.
    Their actions aren't in the interests of anyone but themselves and their mindset seems to be that the best way to deal with anything is to hand out as heavy a punishment as they can get away with.
    They may as well just be saying "accept your punishment and STFU, if you appeal we will crush you"

    Matchday 15 – Saturday 30th October 1971 & Derby day in the East Midlands as we visited City Ground, Nottingham
    Forest came into the game 3rd bottom & had been destroyed 6-1 at Spurs the previous weekend – a game pleasingly captured in a ‘Right Hammerings’ compilation VHS I had bought for me as a kid. For those of you who think the City Ground is shabby now, you’ll be interested to learn the 1971 version mostly didn’t have a roof & their away end appears at first glance to have an electricity pylon plonked in it;

    Goals there from Alan Hinton (pen) & a screamer from John Robson giving us the points in a game that saw Steve Powell make his first start for Derby, aged 16 years & 40 days. Forest’s penalty missed by Ian Storey-Moore, who infamously was on the verge of a move to Derby later this very season before Forest changed their minds & sold him to Man Utd instead. Bit more on that here;

    Programme of the day from Notts;

    A cracking day for the Rams who apart from local bragging rights, also moved up to 2nd after Man City could only draw away at lowly Huddersfield. Elsewhere Man Utd lost their first game for 2 months (at home to Leeds) meaning their advantage over Derby was cut to 2 points;

    I'm hoping this to be the case being double jabbed and wearing a mask at work and shopping etc but tested positive today and feeling a bit poo but suppose I'd feel worse not being jabbed.

    Female contestant: (presses buzzer) "Oh God, I used to have it at school... Handel's Water Music..."
    Rogers: "So who's the composer?"
    Female contestant: "Chopin?"
    (audience shrieks in disbelief)

    Crikey, that Horan link is as convoluted as one of the clue answers on '321' back in the 80s. Although, if this was 321, Tepper would be the speedboat, Kerchner would be a new Mini Metro wheeled out with its four way flashers on, and Alonso would be....
