I’m not a MM fan but what that really shows is that his tenure has been considerably more successful until the final year.

I know some say the EFL don't have an agenda but I think they do. It would not surprise me one bit for the result of the appeal to be dragged on for a few more months, they may know they won't win but leaking snippets of information that suggests points deductions in the hope it will continue to derail us between now and when the season starts.
Points deductions or not, what cannot be disputed in my opinion is that 18 months after the original charges were made that it is still ongoing. The EFL claim their primary goal is to protect the league and the clubs within it, yet by being utterly and totally incompetent they do just the opposite.
Its disgusting and appalling that this has not yet been resolved. The EFL should charge themselves with breaching FFP rules..with FFP standing for Fit For Purpose in this instance. They are a disgrace of an organisation.

It was an outpouring of relief by both players and fans alike. Did you see all the fans outside the ground? You embarrassed by them as well?

With the past 12 months and no fans allowed in the ground maybe it was an opportunity for the players to give the fans a thank you and a bit of reconnection.
People moan when there’s no communication/interaction from the club and people moan when there is....sometimes you just can’t win

Is he OK? I thought Leeds fans were obsessed. Is this all because we got a draw with them in some game a few years ago? Sometimes I wonder why I have so little free time compared to others.

Just over 30 years ago an event occurred that I think all of you would consider to be of greater import than the current struggles of our beloved football club.  In July 1988 the captain of USS Vincennes panicked and let loose 2 surface to air missiles. He brought down an Iranian passenger plane.  290 souls were killed including babes in arms and it is believed, with some justification, that some were conscious as they fell 10,000 feet into the Gulf. Imagine.
Robert Fisk was a proper journalist working for a proper newspaper, The London Times.  He didn’t buy the American versions of events (they changed as evidence changed) and he investigated the story as a good journalist does, using his many contacts in the area.  He wrote a story that destroyed many of the American lies. When it was published all the points contradicting the American versions of events were missing, taken out by Fisk’s editor. What was left was largely anodyne drivel. Fisk left for the Independent. Their gain.
Our match today is, for various reasons, a big story, played in a febrile off field atmosphere and always was going to be - two big clubs with big traditions fallen on hard times; our manager; a takeover; the financial consequences; and the football ones too.  And yet many appear to be surprised by the drivel that is being written about us; and, worse, appear to be believing it; and, worse still, appear to be repeating it, giving it a life of its own.  There are negative comments about the tabloids and the Daily Mail and yet, apparently we’re more than prepared to take as gospel what Craig Hope and others are feeding us.
What do we actually know about the takeover and Erik Alonso’s finances?   Diddly squat is what.  We know Mel has agreed a deal and with whom; we know that’s with the EFL for the owner’s test. That is pretty much it.  And that is all anyone actually knows apart from the 3 parties involved (plus their advisors).
All the rest is guesswork and rumour, pure and simple. But there are plenty who might want to disrupt us in this week of all weeks.  Mr Chansiri for one.  Might he be Craig Hope’s source? Not beyond the bounds of possibility.
If a paper like The Times can distort the truth about the death of 290 people why do we accept the word of hacks whose sole aims are to get clicks on an article, names on the stories and followers on twitter?  That’s now a job apparently. We don’t have to help them.
There are times too when not only am I glad that I have no social media presence but I’m also happy not to be a moderator of this board; when I feel so out of sync with my fellow fans that I question my sanity.  This is one of them.  Imagine having to read all the codswallop that’s being spouted in the name of ‘it’s my opinion therefore I’m entitled to express it’. There are very few, I suspect, that would say much of what they have written on these pages to the faces of the players, the manager, coaching staff, recruitment team or our current owner.  There are more than a few contributors to these boards who allegedly espouse treating people with respect, who say they believe that mental health is important (and we have at least two players who have publicly described their own mental health challenges) but who have joined in the general pile on with apparent alacrity. Apparently it’s even worse elsewhere. An opinion is not necessarily correct just because you’re willing to die for it (Oscar Wilde). ‘Chancer’ is the latest adjective being liberally bandied around about a bloke none of us have met and none of us know.  What if he isn’t? Why can’t we give him a chance, if he is, eventually, to take us over?
We have no say in who runs the club we support.  It is not in ‘our’ gift to choose our next owner whether we like it or not. Never has been. Whether that’s right or wrong is a legitimate point of discussion.  In the meantime we have a team to support and a match to win and a future that will take care of itself, win, lose or draw. And I hope it’s the first of those.

Didn’t the club say right at the outset that there would be no further comment until the matter was concluded (or words to that effect) which probably covers options 1,2,3 and 4.
Perhaps there is another option if they wanted to be really rude:
”FFS, we said they’re be no further comment. Which part of that don’t you understand?”?

And in both those finals we had no right to win because of what the other teams had at their disposal and the money they spent to get there. Even the Villa game whatever money we had spent in the years leading up to the final, it pales into insignificance with what Villa threw at it.

This season given Bournemouth’s form right  now there is a strong possibility the teams that came down will all go up. Next season there is a very good chance it will be the same and so on. The premier league will become a closed shop due to the disparity between the finances unless clubs are prepared to face ruin or break FFP just to compete!

You telling me that Coventry Birmingham Preston Luton Barnsley (massively overachieving) Millwall have better squads than ours in terms of ability? We’re scrapping with Rotherham and we’re 3 points above Wycombe - they’ve done great - but they’re pub teams by comparison.

Lawrence Waghorn Byrne Clarke Shinnie Roberts Marshall are all more than capable championship players, with exception of Waggy and Marshall I’d say the others could all play in a top 6 team. With the right players around them Knight Bird Buchanan and Sibley could also play in a top 6 team. Then there’s Jozwiak - a first team polish international going to the Euros!
A large chunk of this team was here last season and we finished 10th. We should not be anywhere near this. Top 6 - no chance, but mid-table definitely.
They should be doing better with this team. However they are not, and even if we do stay up, if the off field stuff isn’t sorted and Rooney remains in charge then players out of contract and loans will leave, we will be struggling to bring players in and IMO we would be odds on for relegation next season.

And that’s the problem! Right here!! You slag off Mel because of the position we are in now yet why are we here?! Because he tried to compete against teams with parachute payments. Went about it the wrong way but he tried. Wednesday did exactly the same look where they are. Reading will be the next one, if they don’t get up next season I would then say the red dogs would be next.

Run the club sustainability- no ambition sack the board. Spend money trying to get promotion against teams with more resources - sack the board.
We all need a reset of expectations because ultimately we want a football club to support at the end of the day that we feel connected to, whatever division we are in.

Really humbling reading some of these posts. If there's one good thing to come out of this lousy season, its the community on here within which people can share painful experiences. All my best wishes to those who have posted ?
    @Ken Tram great opening post & totally understand the thinking. To those who are worrying about relegation & understandably so, please bear in mind the following;
Man City were in League One in 1999 - their hated rivals had just won the Treble, basically their lowest ever point. 12 years later they won the League title & they play in the Champions League final in 3 weeks time Leeds were relegated to League One in 2007 & it took them 3 years to get out. They're now eyeing a Champions League charge next season Leicester were relegated to League One in 2008 - 8 years later they won the League title & are back in the Champions League spots again Sheffield Utd were relegated to League One in 2011 & spent 6 years there - once they got out, it took them 3 years to finish top half of the Premiership Our very own Derby County nearly went out of business in 1984 & were relegated to the old Third Division that same year - 5 years later, we finished 5th in the old Division One, beat the Champions Arsenal & would have got a UEFA Cup spot had it not been for the scousers You can also add Wolves, Southampton & Norwich to the list above. Human spirit is an amazing thing & there's a hell of a lot of it backing this football club - whatever happens tomorrow, please don't get too down & keep the faith because the good times will return. COYR ?

They were unpopular when they tried to run the club at break even or better. They became more popular when they let nigel spend a bit more cash and ran the club at a loss.
Those of us bemoaning the financial state of the club now might reflect on what a championship team being run on a cost neutral basis looked like. Not great.

Cocu brought in better more consistent players than Rooney has...FACT  I think we'd be gonners already if it wasn't for Clarke,Byrne,Beilik , Colin....just what was the point of bringing in the Everton lad Bangime .....
Also something  that  really rankles me is this...why did Rooney not keep himself in good enough shape to be able to come on for the last 20mins or so in some games when required and play CDM and use his experience on the pitch to see games out...why?

The situation is clearly concerning. Personally, I'm more worried about Alonso actually completing the takeover than either relegation or administration. He's too close to Matt Southhall and he deliberately wrecked Charlton to enrich himself.

My question to the OP, is what do you hope to achieve by demanding that Mel speaks? If things are OK, he'll say that things are good. If things are terrible, he'll say things are good. It's a complete waste of time.

    So, ok, no "alternative agenda".
You just want to come on here and basically say: "you should all be really afraid of what I know, not that I'm going to share it with you. Just be afraid, really afraid."
So, bit like religion, no proof just banking on people's blind faith.

And, just to make that point, the OP states themselves that they haven't had time for a year to think much about DCFC. Now, when thankfully it seems their personal affairs are more in order, they feel the time is right to have the most senior people at our club to stop all that they have been working on for a year and update them. But not when they're working on their Uber shift. I mean, seriously?

The guy is a human being for goodness sake
    Let’s have some balance
Has anybody actually thought how this might be effecting him personally
I grew up in Littleover with Mel although I didn’t personally know him .

No issues with the rest of your post, I'm generally on board with it even if it does veer into opinion dressed as fact territory.
This seems a very strange thing / a very minor issue to bring up though, it actually comes across a little as sour grapes that Jordon Ibe's getting paid to (not) play football while you're working your arse off (and fair play to you for it) delivering for Uber.
'Getting paid very well' is very subjective - we've been told it's a negligible amount compared to the rest of the squad. Also 'I wonder why...'  Bit vague, too open to interpretation (possibly suggests underhand dealings!) & goes against your claim to only be posting facts, not opinion.
If you know something we don't and can prove it (or at least tell us how you know), however...

£10m less revenue for the year, cancelled out by sales such as Lawrence, Jozwiak, Byrne, and if absolutely necessary the academy graduates.
I've shown my workings out for cash flow many times over the past few months and I struggle to see how it results in administration. That remains the case until we no longer have assets (players) to sell.
To keep us going to the transfer window, Mel needs to find about £500k pw - he has stated he will cover that.
