  1. Been binging on Jeremy Brett's and Edward Hardwicke's exquisite Granada Sherlock Holmes series from the 80's.  Saw most of the episodes when the series came out, but am enjoying them even more now.  As a boy i read the complete works over and over and this series perfectly captures the characters and stays lovingly faithful to the stories.  One of the finest English television series to date.  We watch one a day, religiously with large heaps of popcorn.  Even bought new speakers for our TV to further enhance our enjoyment.  Jeremy Brett is and will be the definitive Holmes IMO and that of many other's i dare say.  A remarkable actor who left us too soon.

  2. It's been a grueling, but exciting week.  Paid a deposit on this 85 square meter property in Costa Blanca South Cabo Roig Spain, but we don't have the keys yet because the real estate company is dragging it's feet, as is the norm in Spain as i have come to accept.  So we have been clearing the front part and fixing what needs fixing, but that job is only half done.  An Irish man has rented the place for the past 8 years.  He never fixed anything, apparently spent most of his time in a chair smoking and drinking, so all plastic materials need removing inside and there is some light repair work needed as well as complete refurnishing.  Am not counting any chickens yet until signature is completed but we are not worried as we have a human tornado for a lawyer, probably the best in the business in that area.  i will return to Spain hopefully within two weeks to complete repairs, furnish and install appliances and then we have a couple waiting to rent it from us for a year.  We need to do that as we are extending ourselves financially a bit.  After that, it will be completely paid for.  We got it at a very good price indeed.  Great community, good neighbors and fantastically situated within walking distance to beach and everything of interest.  We are so tired, but very happy.  What shall we call it?  i like Casa Jenn as that is my wife's name, but my good friend suggests Lion's Den because of the gate figures.  Without his help and his gracious wife we would never have been able to pull this off.  Wonderful friends and only a few doors down the lane.

  3. When someone has their spelling or grammar corrected by another and responds with "Grammar Police."  i am grateful if i get corrected, as i aspire to express myself correctly and don't get why anyone would take such assistance badly and feel the need to mock the person assisting.

Using a small i or skipping a period at the end of a sentence is something i do however, but i consider that and similar efforts as taking liberties in an effort to individualize and stylize posts.

Touchy subject, no doubt and i admit it has grey areas as i mentioned.

  4. Jehova's Witnesses, Catholic nuns, or Mormons knocking on my door to introduce me to God and save my everlasting soul from the torments of hell.  i am fine with discussing theology and not least philosophy with folks of interest, but the downright patronizing stance of these folks is intolerable.  They can't get their noses out of their books and think that because they studied some religious text or another, that they automatically therefor know God better than i do and therefor in a position to preach.  The nerve of these folks.  i try to stay polite, but they always end up poking me repeatedly the wrong way and soon after that, they make their excuses and leave

Actually, i do enjoy teasing them with difficult questions and ideas that make their closed minds pop

  5. One more complaint before i pass out from cognac

What's with the ??? ?  Is that a question questioning the question?  Is it more of a question?  Is it a demanding question?

And this !!!.  What the heck is that?  Exclamation of the last exclamation and then another exclamation in exclamation of the second one?

Don't get me started on 4's and 5's

And ?!?!?!  What in God's name does that mean?

If you want to make a point, then make a point.  If you want to ask a question, ask

i bet these same folks wave their hands all over the place when describing what they had for lunch

This is not aimed at you Parsnip

    Uhh, yes it is

    ?

  6. Once a month at the KFC car window

Me:  Yeah, i would like a family bucket for 6...

KFC Employee:  What sauce would you like with that?

Me:  No sauce, but just legs and thighs would be good

KFC Employee:  Yes but what sauce would you like?

Me:  i want no sauce whatsoever under any circumstances

    KFC Employee:  Huh?

Me:  What part of no sauce are you not understanding?

KFC Employee:  Huh?  We have this sauce and that sauce...

Me, through my teeth:  Jesus Christ almighty.  No sauce no sauce no sauce no no no soy filled sauce

KFC Employee:  But you ordered the family bucket and it comes with the sauce of your choice

Me:  Here's an idea, pick one sauce of your choice and throw it in the bin for me, will ya

KFC Employee:  So you don't want sauce?

    Me:  You catch on quick

    KFC Employee:  Huh?

Me,  thinking of tearing what's left of my hair out:  You are correct, no blessed sauce

KFC Employee:  Thank you, that will be an exorbitant amount payable at your next car window

I went out last night after the game and got accidentally drunk...and stole a really cool beer glass from the last bar we were in...cheered me up a bit this morning when I saw it on the kitchen table.

The guys at the bar send their best.  Not often a drunk guy buys rounds for everyone twice and then makes off with a plastic beer glass
