Well if he wants a good new contract elsewhere presumably if he has a brain he knows he needs play well and get us promoted to get the best he can.  Wont get dream move if he plays half arsed will he?

I'd guess he'd already have something in place regardless, also wouldn't want to risk himself getting injured which would be another reason to part ways now

Sadly folks, the news I’m hearing isn’t great. With Wednesday dragging their heels, don’t expect any new players in.

also I’m hearing Max has rejected a new contract.

Surely best to sell now then and get in what we can to hopefully take us over the line, if it's true he's not signing a contract can you expect his head to be fully in it for us in the latter part of the season? I'd rather have someone here who wants to be here and that's nothing against Max I don't blame him for wanting a new challenge he stuck by us when many didn't I'd wish him all the best.

I'm not sure thie vision many of have CBT on one wing and NML on the other will be be in effect as often they're imagining, although I'm not saying it'll never happen.

One of the only big downsides mentioned by Charlton fans is CBTs lack of defensive effort and contribution and we don't exactly have high expectations of NML in that regard, so playing them both wide at the same time could be defensive suicide. Niambe may cope down the right, but from what we've seen of Elder (and as his career history would show) he's a good overlapping fullback playing in tandem with his winger,  but you don't want to be leaving him exposed as he doesn't seem the calm/composed type.

Doubt it would happen but I really like NML as a striker, proven already this season he's a nightmare for defenders played through the middle. Being linked with Smith though it's clear Warne won't step away from his crossing game.

I think a midfielder who can score goals and be creative and be very influential is the signing that would take us to another level

This is where I'd be spending our money , I really don't like how teams seem to go straight through a non existent centre midfield at times

but playing 3 rather than 2 in there would help a CM who could chip in with 8-10 goals a season would be brilliant

Yeah agreed as mentioned below maybe we just need a solid CDM at the side of Bird then push CH further up. If we don't sort our midfield it could be our downfall imo, we get overrun especially later in games.

So some more information I’ve heard.

    CBT - almost done

    - Langstaff is the top striker target as is Devante Cole

    - wide players - two youngsters from Brentford  , dobra and one from Mansfield -

CM targets are Moxon , Dobson at charlton and loan deal for a guy at Sheffield United

If we pull Devante Cole off start calling me Meg

No Idea Idk GIF by goodfortunesonly

There must be a young, combative midfielder playing for a Premier League club who is just itching for 6 months of first team football and a promotion on his CV at the end, mustn't there?

Nothing against TJJ, but if we had a midfielder like that in place of him tonight, I think we'd have been a lot more comfortable. This team is ironically crying out for a Jason Knight type player, we just don't have enough energy in the middle right now.

TJJ needs to be played off the last man, his movement is wasted how he's being played, can see he's not got the confidence for what he's being asked to do.

Agreed has to be someone out there that's not scared to run through the middle.

Gonna be honest, if you're 25 (ignore the article, he's not 22) and still playing at that level, it's highly likely you're not League 1 standard. Happily proven wrong but I don't think he's League 1 promotion standard.

Parks where he wants Wisdom is finding his feet in National League north. Could argue he'd still do a job in league 1. Situations, confidence, luck all play a part in ones career, I don't think you can write anyone off in this world.

  8. Tough window for Warne now, the lads have given him a headache. I wouldn't touch the front line, maybe a pacey raw winger on loan to bring on last 20. Midfield we need a good CDM and a ball carrier can see one or two outgoings, Sibley maybe a loan. If we can pin down JJ and two in midfield I'd say that's a good window.

Good player, although after recall from Vale, Wilder said they wouldn't be looking at another league one loan

Exceptions made for a premier league club visiting league 1 ☺️
