There is no plausible situation in which a League 1 club should be spending heavily on a player they have no realistic chance of getting any return on.

The financial difference between being In the champ and league 1, especially with the new tv deal from next season will outweigh the need for a resale value. Get out the league by any means necessary (within budget etc).

This is why I never write off a potential signing. Stats don't tell you the full picture, confidence, positioning, tactics, luck so many different factors to it, sometimes a player just gels at a certain time and club.

Derby currently play an archaic anti football and that needs to change but will it ? 

 

I like Warne and personally don't want to see him go, I do however agree and think he needs to switch tactics. I can't really see how he got promoted with Rotherham if this was his style with them (guess work no idea). League 1 defenders really aren't that good, I'd say the one strength they have is being big and heading away, playing into channels and crossing all game is playing to their only strength. Run at them with pace we'll cause problems, we're a fine example of that we've signed defenders apparently too good for this league and they look like they've been scouted from a pub team how they crumble under a bit of pace and direct play.

Something has happened between him saying we're after another 2/3, to now we don't have the budget for anyone. Can't see how the blame is lying with PW for that. Either an unexpected bill like this has come up, someone above him has messed the numbers up or it's kidology to get fees down.

Heard from a very reliable source we've finally landed Freddy Eastwood. 

Deserves credit today, he held out on making changes when I for one was calling for them at 70 minutes, turned out to be the right decision.
