So I would say that so far most of our signings have shown glimpses to excite us.
Not too sure Wildsmith is a top keeper but we said the same about Allsop.
Would prefer Cashin next to Davies like last year.
Collins needs a goal to ignite his season.
We need a keeper, a right back and a speedy striker for squad strength.
BUT
Wow! We have a team!
They will take time to gel and I hope the fans will be patient.
Not only do we look like surviving, we might actually be competitive.
Compare that to a month ago. Remember how that felt?

I'm under the impression that NML is RW and knight is RB and korey Smith next to bird and hourihane behind Collins? 

Based off todays game & current signings, again will assume Forsyth stays, in a 4132 -
Wildsmith - Smith Chester Davies Roberts - Bird - NML Hourihane Barkhuizen - Collins McGoldrick
Loach, Forsyth, Cashin, Thompson, Knight, Sibley, Stretton

I don't. I've seen people say well Smith can play there and Knight can play there. 
Yeah but we can't go into a season with a completely unproven right back and 2 midfielders as back up.
Fwiw. I think the fact Bielik is still here is essentially why nobody else has signed yet. 
We are clearly needing him off the wage bill. His wages alone will cover 3 players.

Yes but you're talking about football like it's a normal job. People would move jobs who don't have sayings, dont have much money for the sake of earning an extra £200/£300 a month.

In the first 2 preseason games wr played it through the lines much quicker and there were less passes around the back not really going anywhere. Against Stevenage it went back to too many passes around the back & it showed by the lack of attacking intent with 0 shots on target. Im hoping the first 2 games is what Rosenior is wanting more of, he was critical of the performance vs Stevenage which I was happy to hear.

Surely we won't sign a CDM in Smith and make him out first choice right back? Rosenior has already said he's looking at experience there. 
Neither Thompson or Hourihane are CDMs for me. Plus you've got Bielik there and if we're honest there's no chance he's here next season. Id imagine we want him off the wage bill sharpish. I forgot about Thompson. But not convinced he's ready yet.
A lot of it is square pegs in round holes. Sibley LW for example. He doesn't fit there. In fairness I don't know where he does fit in the system we play.
Of your CDMs one of them won't be here, one isn't a CDM and one of them was released by Dundee. 
Absolutely desperate for a right back, wingers and a striker. Stretton is nowhere near ready. The last thing we need is an injury to Collins and then having to rely on Stretton.
Although it won't make any difference who's upfront if we don't have any threat from midfield and wingers who cross the ball.
 

Little update, expect 2 announced on Saturday before Leicester game. A midfielder (McDonald?!) and an attacker (Diallo?!) hearing josh Murphy has been training today and there’s a possibility Jamal Blackman could come in, he is still training at Huddersfield however. I expect we’ll see more movement soon

Josh Murphy would be a top signing, sort of player who could maybe hit his stride in L1 and stay with us longer than some of the other signings we’re making.

Thing is, both are good enough to be wanted by any number of Championship teams if they were made available for transfer.
Had either one said “Look, I know I’m under contract but I don’t want to play in L1 so I want to go” then we could have listed them accordingly. With a year left on their contracts any transfer price we put on them would have been appropriate, ie not silly money. I would bet that both would have been snapped up by now for a nominal/respectable fee. 
Instead, their behaviour has legitimised the view of other clubs that “Why should we pay anything when they might not be contracted?”. 
Bottom line, had either handled this better then both would likely have gone by now, and we’d have some £££ in the bank, but instead, no one wins and either we’re going to get screwed out of transfer fees, or they’re going to be left with no clubs to play for come the start of the season.
I have more sympathy for Byrne’s position as he hasn’t publicly tried to force the issue, but from our perspective they’ve both removed themselves as options for the coming season, and it’s an insult to the bond that the (vast majority of the) squad helped form with the supporters last year.

He would be a good signing at League One level. I didn't realise he was out of contract - he always used to chip in with a few goals in the Championship but always seemed to be in and out of the team. We definitely need wingers so could be a smart pick up!

I think I'm in the minority here but with Byrne I have slightly more respect for as he hasn't actually signed for anyone else yet. Hasn't come out and said anything derogatory.
He's been given advice saying DCFC are in the wrong. DCFC have been given advice saying Byrne is in the wrong. He's waiting on an outcome. It probably wouldn't right for him to be with the squad, on either party. DCFC don't want someone with an active dispute in training. Byrne can't really train with us as it might prejudice his case. 
If Derby turn out to be in the right, I'd give him the opportunity to rejoin the squad and play. (Albeit, probably with an apology) Buchanan however is playing for another club right now. 

Shows to me that Hourihane is not a deep midfielder, he needs to be further up with smith/bird/bielik covering for him. Sibley on the wing is a waste (we all knew it). Collins isn’t really getting much service. We definitely need a good 5-7 more new faces in the squad but other than that it’s a good run around for them in pre season and an experiment that hasn’t worked quite to plan

I’d like as many pundits and publications as possible to give that sort of safe answer. Lowers expectations and will keep us under the radar longer.
