Think it's the next week 10/9/2022 Morecambe v. Derby.

You may have counted a LC or LT match in getting there a week earlier...

Yes, my mistake, I have counted the Grimsby Town game (Papa John Trophy).

Let's all party on the beach (if the tide is out!!) at Morecambe for our 5,000th game.

  2. Bah humbug!!!

38 Degrees C to 40 Degrees C - is nothing compared to when I was working on a Saudi Arabian desert airfield, changing aircraft engines, and the temperature reached 52 Degrees C., that's 126 Degrees Fahrenheit in old money.

The desert heat is very dry, so God help us if it had been humid as we get in the UK. You can get used to a high temperature, but the humidity is worse.

  3. Did anyone take notice of the German team coach yesterday, which I thought was a brilliant advertisement for their club and team. Not only a great slogan but with all the name badges of the districts and towns which surround the city of Berlin.

"Wir Sind ein Berliner" - translated means "We are Berliners".

Not the incorrect JF Kennedy quote of "Ich bin ein Berliner", which basically means, "I'm a hot dog"!!!

I don't know if Derby County F.C. have an official coach, or do they just hire one for the day?

However, why not a club coach with "We are Derby" on the outside, with our own districts and towns where our supporters originate? Or would that provide a abuse and damage from other club supporters as they drive to and park at other grounds?

Blocks  D and E are either side of the directors box, so I would think that they're reserved for guests of the club or club sponsors.

I've got a front-row seat in Block 'D', which to the right of the Director's Box, as you face the pitch, and it is the most expensive season ticket for Pride Park. However, I am not a club sponsor, nor am I a 'guest' of the the club - just a supporter who has had that seat since the first day that Pride Park opened.

It was originally called the 'Premier Membership' seats, where we paid, along with the cost of the season ticket, an extra £120+,which entitled us to padded seats, a lining on the concrete floor so our feet wouldn't get cold (!!), a free cup of tea/coffee and a free programme.

We no longer get the tea/coffee ,or a programme, and its no longer called the 'Premier Membership' seat.

  5. Having just listened to his interview, post-signing his new contract, he has to be made team captain immediately, as well as club captain for the playing staff.

He is articulate, determined, passionate, and respected by management, players and fans alike.

Curtis Davies is a future coach and/or manager in the making, and I would be more than happy to see him remain at Derby County F.C. in such a capacity, after he retires from playing.

I know lots from around Perth Street, I'd drink in the Rhino and Penguin back in the day, I was from the other end of Chadd, Where the more refined lad lived...Trenton Green area ?, What was your school Henry Cav or Olive Eden?

I lived on Grantham Avenue, Breadsall Estate, from 1955 to 1974, when I moved out and married my first wife, The Rocket was one of the first pubs I drank in, but mainly in town as a 'youngster'.

I passed my 11-plus exam and went to Derby Grammar School.

Does anyone know the maximum amount of season tickets we can sell. I thought it was around the 18k to 20k mark?

As per the EFL regulations, Pride Parks capacity is set at 32,000. Therefore, I believe the maximum is set at 23,000 season tickets, as each club has to offer a maximum of 10% to away fans, and in Derby's case that will be 3,200.

There also has to be a percentage available for the 'on-the-day' / 'walk-ups', which would be in the region of 5,800.

  9. Although all of the new signings have been out-of-contract players, with no transfer fees, which in my opinion, Derby have agreed ridiculous fees in the past 6 years, without seeing the rewards, the EFL will be watching the budget, and, at some point, Derby will have to ensure they balance the books, in accordance with the set business plan, which is in place for two seasons.

So don't be surprised if several of the "assets", i.e. players such as Knight, Bird & Bryne are sold, which, these three players, alone, should bring in up to £6 million in revenue, as well as Beilik being loaned out to save some of his salary.

This is similar to what Arthur Cox & Jim Smith did, by selling some "favourite" players for a fee, to allow them to bring in their own players, who where experienced and wanted to play for a decent club, as well as a knowledgeable manager/coach. The players they brought in were the bed-rock for several promotions back to Division 1 / Premier league.

  10. What are the conditions of EFL Business Plan?

How much can we spend on a transfer? How many players can we sign? Is there a wage cap on what we can pay a new player?

Can we sign contracts with the players already at the club?

Can the new owner put in more money and use that for transfer fees without compromising the business plan?

  12. I predict a press conference sometime mid-afternoon to "introduce" the new owner of Derby County Football Club, which will then enable the news to be shown on all the TV news & sports channels, BBC Radio Derby and for the news print journalists  to put together a story for tomorrows newspapers.

Then we can all go and have a stiff drink and sleep soundly for evermore!!!!!

  13. If you are a true and loyal supporter of your club, not just Derby County, you take the rough with the smooth, the agony and the joy, but you remain a fan to your home club all your life.

I've been supporting, home and away, in the sunshine, snow, wind and rain, for 60 years, and I've seen it all from 1962 to 2022, with the good, bad and mediocre managers and players, but they all come and go in the end, but as a supporter all you can really do is watch and argue from the side lines with your mates and family of what the club and team should be doing.

I've watched and read about all the controversies, the record breaking transfers, the sackings and bust-up's, and twice, under Maxwell and Morris, close to liquidation, the promotions and relegations, but I'll still be there on Saturday 30th July to see them kick-off another season, my 61st.

Whoever the new owner, new manager and players are going to be, let's get out our flags, scarves and shirts and give them our wholehearted support for another season.

  14. In the 60 years of supporting Derby County I've seen many managers and coaches, come and go, and in the future there will be many more, so despite all the efforts Wayne Rooney gave the club last season, he didn't actually, from a playing point of view, achieve very much.

Yes, there were several high spots, never losing at home to any of the top-six teams, and getting the fan base to support the team throughout the season, however the away performances were, at times, dire.

Like Frank Lampard, the media emphasis at times was more about Wayne Rooney, than the team, and in the best interests of the club, I think it was the best option that Rooney departed and we begin again.

In all those seasons, in my opinion, there have only been 3 good managerial teams - Clough & Taylor; Cox & McFarland and Smith & McClaren.

Undoubtedly, Derby County FC need stability, on and off the field, and I believe that can only be achieved by a solid business acumen in the boardroom and an understanding that running a football club is a different model to normal businesses, followed by an appointment of an experienced, "older" (but not too old( manager/coach, who not only "knows the league", but also where to find the up and coming players who are eager to impress and desire achieve higher things.

There needs to be at £300 per night!

They only book rooms on two night stays for a weekend (Fri/Sat, or Sat/Sun), and they are quoting £619 for a standard double room, or £815 for a sea-view.

40 years ago, I worked on the nuclear power station, which is three miles up the road at Heysham, where we stayed in some very decent B&B's for £25 / night, including breakfast & dinner.

I've just checked and the B&B's are now between £40 and £90 per night, depending how far you are from the seafront.
