  1. As a fully-paid up season ticket holder my seat has been reserved for me for the two games against 'Boro & duckst.

Got onto the DCFC website easily, ticked off all the appropriate boxes and within 5 minutes my seat tickets were confirmed. I received an email no longer than 5 minutes later, and I printed off the two tickets, at home.

I think the DCFC ticket office and website have got the hang of it now!!!

  2. Why should Derby County inform the supporters of anything that might be confidential to their negotiations with a buyer or investors, as well as the complex issues with the EFL?

If they were to issue some details of those negotiations, and it was then misconstrued through the social media platforms which many people use to spread rumour and untruth, then all of those matters would collapse into chaos and repercussions.

If I was running any business, from a football club to a corner shop, and I was negotiating a buy-out, or having to deal with an accountancy issue which could end up in a court of law, then I would refuse to tell anyone until the matters were resolved.

The fans do not own the club. The fans do not have any shareholding in the club.

All we are asked to do is to pay for a ticket, be it on a match-to-match basis, or by season ticket, where we get some discount. If we don't like what's going on, we can either grin and bear it (like we're doing at the present), or don't attend and save your money.

Think they'll already be low. Can't see it being above 20,000 next Saturday in all honesty.

It doesn't matter if there's 5,000; 10,000, or 20,000 attendance - the fact is, Pride Park is open to fans for the first time since March 2020, 17 months ago!!!

There will be many factors why some people will not attend today - still wary of the Covid virus; on holiday; no money because they have lost their job; not interested anymore because of the mess the club is in.

Let's not moan about who will, or will not be there, just be happy that "we few, we happy few, we band of brothers (and sisters)", able to see a live game in, hopefully, a great opening game of the season. COYR's !!!

  4. If Derby get an attendance of @20k, then that will be brilliant in the circumstances, with many supporters not knowing what position the club is in, Re: finances (HMRC & FFP), player transfers, possible points deductions, takeover.

I personally know of five people who are not going today, for one reason or another, and another three who are not renewing their season tickets, if and when, they become available.

I can remember a first-game of the season attendance at the BBG was @15,000, which was looked upon as very good.

Some fans have nothing else to do but moan.

COYR's, let's get off to a flyer with some goals, a win and 3 points on the board.

I can understand 19/20 season ticket holders missing their usual seat for this game but surely 20/21 season ticket holders should all have been guaranteed the seat that they've already paid for!

All season ticket holders who purchased their 2020-2021 season ticket in March 2020, and there are approximately 8,000, have been assured that their seat, wherever it may be in the ground, has been guaranteed and retained for their sole use for league games.

Because those 8,000 season ticket holders paid for their tickets early, and in advance of anyone else, their 'season tickets' for the 2021-2022 season are 'Free'. At the moment, we do not have a season ticket, but we will have to print off our entrance paper ticket, at home, and show it at the Pride Park automated gate.

  6. Got my Huddersfield Town 'Free' ticket today, in my regular seat - Toyota Upper Stand.

Also paid for my Salford FC ticket, although surprised that they've blocked off my seating area for this game. I suppose they're not expecting much of a crowd and it'll save them cleaning the seats and sweeping up the rubbish.

All very easy without leaving my home.

I think, in his defence the 250,000 was a worst case scenario with no restrictions introduced.

Yes, I agree, that was the worst case, however, that was the headline figures, which put the media world into a frenzy, and panic stations amongst the politicians.

Prof. Ferguson has made many presumptions, and many have been nowhere near the figures he has produced with his graphs.

I could produce alogrithim which gave a prediction chart for cases, hospitalisations and deaths, based on the figures the media has shown over the past month, however, I'm not a professor, and my prediction would be laughed at as some sort of crank.

A figure of 22,000 new cases a day means nothing, if it hasn't content, such as age groups; ethinicity; other health problems; have they been vaccinated with one or two jabs, or none at all.

  8. 2 hours ago, G STAR RAM said:

I literally watched this guy on tv sometime within the last 2 weeks saying we would definitely reach 100,000 cases a day and maybe even 200,000.

Isn't he also the 'expert' who, last year, predicted up to 250,000 deaths.

I believe, it's time that the media stopped bringing out all and sundry to give their expert opinions, with their algorithim's, graphs and charts, and even 'league tables', as we know the Covid virus is here to stay, and we will have to live with it for many years to come, as we do with influenza, and have a booster jab every Autumn or Winter.

  9. Tommy Docherty's two seasons was also a depressing time.

Just two years earlier Derby had been Division 1 Champions, Charity Shield winners, beating Real Madrid, FA Cup semi-finalists, with a team of players who were all top of their game.

Docherty sold them all, brought in poo, and when he left us in 1979, it was a total mess. Within 4 years the club was, literally bankrupt, and getting relegated to the third division.

Derby County FC throughout their history have been through everything - you name it, and the Rams have done it, and sent the postcard. However, like the proverbial 'Phoenix', they will rise again, and probably do all the same mistakes again, just with a different set of players, managers, coaches, owners and directors.

That's the fun of following your club, and, I suppose, I wouldn't have it any other way, apart from at least 10 years of being in the Premier League, a FA Cup win and a couple of years following them in Europe.

That's not too much to ask for, is it?

  10. I think it's got to be a minimum of 2 centre-backs, then either 2 strikers, or, one striker + one attacking midfield.

However, if they sell one of the players on the books, i.e. Bryne, Knight, etc., then that allows them one or two more, plus some money from the transfer fees.

With Bielik to return in 4 to 5 months, Derby have more than enough to cover the midfield positions.

So far it's only been used on the school run. Getting 50 to 60 mpg though on a 5 mile round trip is impressive. Thats more than double what my wife's old car did on the same journey.

I've had a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid for 18 months and it is an excellent motor.

I've travelled to London and Suffolk several times over that time, and my get an average of 55 mpg, and my best on a short trip to the Peak District (no motorways & just small A-roads, has been 66 mpg.

  12. I took my grandaughter, along with my son-in-law, when she was 6 years old, and she loves football, and stayed up last Sunday night to watch the Euro final.

My grandson, is now coming up that age, he'sfootball mad and stayed up and watched the Euro final up to the end of 90 minutes when he was falling asleep.

I'm thinking of taking him to the friendly vs Real Betis for his first game and I'm sure he'll look forward to it. My grandson always says come on Derby when I see him, however, he'll have to grow up to take the jibes as they live in Beeston, Nottingham!!!!

No one answering phones or replying to emails.

All of the telephone numbers are either not manned or have an answer machine, to which no one replies when you leave a message.

However, I sent an email to the ticket office email address and received a reply within 30 minutes, so that system is working.

Whilst we don’t all agree with B4 on many points, I think if you were more of a regular poster you’d understand why we tend to cut him a bit of slack rather than respond as you have.

My sincere apologies for that sentence.

However, the danger of people making statements on a social media platform, which are either incorrect or misleading, can cause a good deal of misunderstanding, and sometimes anger, especially if those statements are delivered during a crisis.

I understand B4 has autism, and his arguements can be somewhat mixed up, but surely even when a statement is so wrong, it must be pointed out that it is for the good of the majority that rules are in place to protect everyone, irrespectively that some people may find them awkward to adopt.

Well at wembly did you see anyone wearing masks no part from one person I saw.

But still they can ask you to wear one but no longer law for you to wear one.

The government is asking people to use their common-sense.

To continue to ignore the dangers of getting Covid by not wearing a mask in crowded areas, such as trains, buses or stadium concourses, you're not only risking your own health, of which you have mentioned that youi have some problems, but many others who wish to stay safe.

Mask wearing is not going to  be mandatory, but is advised, which if we are sensible, then we may all be able to go about our lives in a more safe and secure manner.

After 19th there will no social distancing so no need mark out thing and stadiums be full capacity mate.

I believe the government will still include some restrictions, such as wearing masks when entering/leaving venues, such as cinemas, theatres & sports stadiums, but once you are in place, then the masks may be removed.

There may also be, for maybe upto 6 months, some sort of entry 'passport' to these venues, to prove that you have had the vaccine jabs. Let's see what Boris J. has to say later today.

Trying to buy a ticket online. It's a shambles.

It puts you in a queue when you ask to login. Was in position 29, spent 10 minutes telling me i was  1 minute away, 2 mins saying i was being redireted , then it tells me my access was rejected and i'm starting again in position 362,

    Same experience.

Joined at 10.02, 2 minutes to go. 20 Minutes later it says is redirecting me to site and then kicks me out completely.

Good to see the clubs website is being run as well as the club is.

Yes, same experience as above, but eventually got in on the third attempt, which then worked smoothly.

Why do they have these systems which, as I'm of the "older generation", I find I have to check everything to ensure I've done it right, then get confused when things go wrong, especially when a notice says that the payment has been cancelled and I'm hoping I've not been scammed out of the money.

Anyway, even though its only a friendly and it might be the reserves, it'll be great to go inside the ground again and see some live football.

  18. The United Nations defines youth as persons between the ages of 15 and 24 with all UN statistics based on this range, the UN states education as a source for these statistics. The UN also recognizes that this varies without prejudice to other age groups listed by member states such as 18–30.

Most Brits aged 40 to 64 consider themselves middle aged, as do a plurality (44%) of those aged 65-69. People in their 50s are the most likely to self-identify as middle aged (82-84%). Very few consider themselves old until they hit at least 60.

Today this person would be considered middle aged, and around 93 percent of men survive until that age.
About 150 year ago less then 25% were celebrating their 60th birthday. And indeed, at those times someone at age 60 was consided an old man.

UN defines older persons as those aged 60 year or over. On many occasions it is defined as 65+.

In most industrialized Western nations, someone is considered a senior by the age of 65 or so. But remember: That number is based primarily on retirement age and the age at which social benefits kick in. Many people would not consider someone a senior until they're at least over the age of 70.

  19. Common assault is an offence in English law, provided by section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

Common assault has a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment and / or a fine. However, if you are being charged for the first time, a custodial sentence is unlikely, and a fine is the usual punishment.

Because its the police and not Prof. Whitty pressing the charges, then if the chap hasn't had any other convictions then he'll get a pretty hefty fine seeing that its in the national media and all over the internet, along with some unpaid work, like sweeping St.James Park of its dogs**t.

  20. Football is a Saturday afternoon with your brother or mates.

Football is about arguing about the team, the tactics, the players, the manager and the oppostion.

Football is the banter, the sounds, the smells(!!), the andrenaline of walking to the ground - it's an emotion of highs and lows within just 90 minutes, and the next week, whatever the previous result may be, you go again.

Once you have committed to a club, it's yours for life, whatever division the team plays in.

I'm 69 years of age, and next Easter Monday 2022, will be the 60th anniversary of the first time I watched Derby County, when my dear father and uncle took me and my brother to the Baseball Ground.

I've stood on terraces, in all weathers, sat on hard seats, been treated to the hospitality suite, and even played on Pride Park in a charity game and football have given me despair at time, but also much enjoyment over the years.

I even bought a season ticket when I was working overseas and only saw 4 home games a season for 3 years, but I still supported Derby County from afar.

Whatever division The Rams find themselves in next season, I will shout at them, criticise them, moan until I'm blue in the face, but I'll support them because they are my club from my home town.

  21. Ipswich Town - Tractor Boys   /   Norwich City - Canaries   /   Morecambe - Shrimpers (learnt that one today)

    Bristol City - Robins   /   Newcastle Utd - Magpies   /   Brentford - Bees  /   Southampton - Saints

    Forest - Gumps

    None-League: Chesterfield - Spirerites   /   Lowestoft Town - Trawlermen

  22. All professional footballers contracts end on the 1st June.

If a player is in his final year of contract, he, or his agent, can begin negotiating a new contract with his present club, or contact other clubs, to any offers which may be available from the 1st January in his final year of contract.

Clubs, of course, can sell the player in the January transfer window, to receive a fee, otherwise, they receive nothing if the player runs down his contract to June.
